It turns out that this permanent A+ lister/icon who is a little height challenged does have offspring. He just does not want anyone to know it. He met the mother of the child way back at the peak of his career and she raised the son out of the public spotlight. Apparently the son wants to be noticed now though and wants to come forward. The only thing holding him back is the threat of being cut off financially.
Prince
After what all he want through with the child he had with Mayte that died of Pfiefer Syndrome, you would think he'd embrace the fact that he has a child.
ReplyDeleteThat would stop me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he does embrace it, Salaam, he just doesn't do it in public. It's a little weird but I'm not sure I blame him. Public life is a bitch and a half and he's always been a very private person.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Look at what is happening with rocco, keep it quiet. The kid may want fame but it's not good for him.
ReplyDeletePrince is a very devout Jehovah's witness now, maybe out-of-wedlock children are frown upon
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Minneapolis, where Prince still lives. He's a very quite quy. He doesn't go plastering his private life all out there for everyone to judge. His mom works with children, my mom has a PhD in Child Psychology & worked with her a few times.
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree, but the issue with the deceased child ended up playing out in public - Remember the bizarre interview he and Mayte gave Oprah about the deceased child? And Mayte still talks about it in every interview. So I get that he is notoriously private, but at the same time, it's not like his private/family live goes uncommented on by others that are in his circle.
ReplyDeleteLove Prince. But him stating he's a "devout" JW is like Kim K saying she's an Orthodox Hebrew.
ReplyDeleteJust dancing & singing in public is a big no no. Let alone sex out of wedlock.
Don't blame him for keeping his son out of public eye, but they do grow up & if the kid wants a public career, to threaten him w/ being cut off also isn't very Christian. And probably won't work.
May be better to help & guide him.
Just saying.
Maybe this was one of those heaux-turned-baby-momma situations and the baby wasn't wanted by Prince so he doesn't want to publicly acknowledge him. The Mayte situation was not like that
ReplyDeleteAt least he's paying to support the kid
It sounds like the kid wants to be recognized by dad so that he can become famous. He must see all the nepotism in Hollywood and must want to be a part of it.
ReplyDeleteIf Enty is writing about it, that means it is out....ijs
ReplyDeletePrince lives in his own little world....if you want a glimpse of what he's REALLY like...listen/watch this by Kevin Smith....it's hilarious - yet sad, but explains so much about Prince.

Lol. Singing and dancing in public is not at all "a big no no" among JWs. That's an absolute lie. It's a strict, fundamentalist religion, yes, but it's not like something out of Footloose. Many members of my family belong to the sect, so I've seen their beliefs in action first-hand. One is a professional dancer, for heaven's sake. I went to high school with another who had aspirations of being a pop star and did singing gigs and talent shows in public all the time. Several attended my sister's wedding and drank like fish at the open bar and spent all night dancing, sometimes rather provocatively. They're not ascetics. Premarital sex is extremely frowned upon, that's true. It can get you expelled from the religion.
ReplyDeleteHe is odd, of course, but not mean. Love him
ReplyDeletePS. There was an item online years ago about him renting an LA mansion and outfitting it with a hair-dressing salon with chairs - it was hysterical. And so very Prince
Surprising as I always thought he was in the closet and also thought he was a blind item in terrace dean's 'hiding in his hop'......
ReplyDelete*terrance*
ReplyDelete*hip hop* damn auto spell!!
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens...we still love Prince! Why does everyone want to be famous these days? Lol!
ReplyDeleteI knew several women of that faith. They were the kindest, most forgiving people I ever met. I don't imagine they would hold anything against anyone.
ReplyDeleteOMG...I watched that whole thing! I still love Prince, but I believe everything Kevin Smith said. Questlove has said similar things about working with Prince, so I think he's just gotten weirder as he's gotten older.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. One of our best friends is a JW and very kind & nice & def not judgemental.
ReplyDeleteI also know that though they likely wouldn't hold it against him, I don't know if he would be totally accepted as one of them b/c of the choices he makes.
Also, don't really care, he's extremely talented & his faith etc is up to him.
I do not agree.
