What leading lady turned character actress and Oscar winner/nominee accidentally revealed on a talk show that she fabricated most of her autobiography? Maybe it was the influence of alcohol but in the realm of promoting a ghostwritten memoir, she committed a major no-no.
Shelley Winters
why is it a no-no, I'm pretty sure she isn't the only one.?
ReplyDeleteoh n/m I didn't read it right....
ReplyDeleteI liked Shirley when she got older, maybe she was always drunk, but she just didn't give a shit anymore in interviews, she pretty much played herself in any roles she still did.
ReplyDeleteI liked the fact that Shelly was able to do that swimming stunt in the 'Poseidon Adventure.'
ReplyDeleteShe stayed under water for so long and pulled it off.
She seemed like a fun broad with zero f@cks to give and I admire that.
ReplyDeleteI'd almost forgotten she was married to Tony Franciosa.
Oh, Nana Mary. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Shelley. Wasn't her autobiography notorious because of all the famous men she claimed she slept with?
ReplyDeleteBet this happened on Geraldo. ;)
ReplyDeleteShelley's autobiographies are the greatest movie star reads of all time. Don't care if they are made up they're a total riot. The second one finishes in the mid 60's. Always hoped she would finish them off before she died.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand Shelly Winters.
ReplyDeleteShe was a bombshell when she was young and rooming with Marilyn. They shared a pair of famous "fuck me pumps" and argued over who'd get to wear them. Those shoes are still sexy today, with a bit of modernization. Is it De Niro who got so pissed off when she mentioned that she slept with him when he was just starting out? She loved to blab.
ReplyDeleteI used to belong to a writing group with her daughter's husband. Daughter seemed nice and took great care of Shelly during her last years. Seemed Ms. Winters was quite the handful but daughter seemed to turn out fine.
