A lot of my e-mails ask me whatever happened to so and so. Most of the time their career just ended. Nothing else. They had their time or their one shot and just could never get back into it. Sometimes though, there are really good reasons why someone walked away. This is one of those times. This person was America’s Sweetheart. Yeah, not Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts. Nope. She was on network television and for weeks the entire country sat riveted and we all fell in love with her. So, Hollywood does what they do and gave her a movie. A crap movie, but a movie. It made some money and it led to other job offers for her. A lot of job offers.
She literally had millions of dollars worth of offers at one point. While she was deciding her next move, she took some meetings. Apparently at each one of these meetings, producers or managers or whatever would try and sleep with her. This is not what she signed up for. There was going to be no casting couch for her. She didn’t need the industry or the limelight or to be famous. If it happened, then that was great, but no way was she going to do the casting couch thing. So, she waited and waited. She landed a pretty decent guest starring role on a very hit network show. She didn’t have to sleep with anyone to get the spot, but while she was on the show, the A list tool star of the show who still has an almost A list career tried to sleep with her. He hit on her right after he kissed his supposed girlfriend goodbye after having sex with her in his trailer. That was pretty much the last straw for her. Oh, except for the producer of the show who also hit on her. America’s Sweetheart tried to do the behind the camera thing, but that was even worse. She walked away and twice turned down $1M offers to come back to where it all started. She made the clean break and just had no interest in going back to it again.
Colleen Haskell/Survivor/The Animal/That 70's Show/Ashton Kutcher/Survivor All Stars
I liked her, but I would never, ever refer to her as America's Sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteThe country sat riveted for weeks? C'mon, man. Put the pipe down, pal.
America's sweetheart????? From survivor. No way they were offering her $1mill to do the allstar Survivor. Way overselling her popularity to improve blind.
ReplyDeleteWas typing at same time.
ReplyDeleteso she got married, had a bebeh and lives in ny with her hubby. She has a life most of us have and doesn't have to deal with industry b.s. It's a real shame she's so happy and her life is everything she wants it to be.
ReplyDeleteWho is this ? Shit Enty- last couple make them good please
ReplyDeleteStill, that $1MM for Survivor would have been easy money..
ReplyDeleteThis must be one of those items made up out of whole cloth that he tries to fit someone into and this time it didn't work.
ReplyDeleteI totally remember her
ReplyDelete--- very pretty girl---good for her for not putting up with that shit---what do you want from her---a gestb spot on Charlie sHEENS/bILL cOSBY SHOW? SMH
It was the first Survivor, very popular; reality tv was thought to be real. She was a sweetheart, a little pixie that flitted around. She was very much liked. I have wondered what happened to her. Last I heard was she was behind the scenes. I thought this was about Karen Valentine. Lol
ReplyDeleteLots of people guessed her correctly when the blind was first posted. And I remember her season. She really was America's sweetheart for a little while.
ReplyDeleteNever watched Survivor, but she sounds like a woman with a good head on her shoulders. If I'd know that about her back then, maybe I would have been more interested in what happened with her career.
ReplyDeleteNot made up at all. Probably exaggerated in spots. Among some avid Survivor watchers, she really was considered a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteGood for her! So many other reality "stars" don't have an ounce of her class.
ReplyDeleteShe was TOTALLY America's Sweetheart. When the first Survivor was on, freaking everyone watched. She was a massive fan favorite. I always loved what she said when she was voted off, "Be nice. Play fair."
ReplyDeleteTruly too good of a soul for Hollywood.
Loved (should really be read as had a huuuuge crush) on Colleen while she was on Survivor wondered what happened to her after 02-03 I do remember the commercial for blistex the animal was only even tolerable for me because of Colleen even if the script sucked
ReplyDeletei had to google her .. i remember those blistex commercials too!! lolzzz
ReplyDeleteshe had those amazing lips!! i have never watched survivor but i remember her face
Remember alphabet boy, casting his votes according to the order of players names? And Rudy? And Richard Hatch walking around naked? Sue's speech at the end? Good times!
ReplyDelete+1000 I watched the show, but I hardly remember her. This must be from one of the older, younger Enterns. No way would the real Enty call someone from Survivor as America's Sweetheart. No way.
ReplyDeleteDorothy Hamill, more like.
At the time, she really did have America transfixed - but only for maybe a year tops..? Bringing up Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan in the OB totally threw me off. She's not in the same league as them!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, GOOD FOR HER for sticking to her guns! Enty tells all of these stories about the scumbags in Hollywood, and then he bags on Catherine Zeta-Jones in an earlier reveal for being paranoid and not trusting anyone? Um, how does ANYONE in Hollywood trust anyone else?! Yeesh.
You know, I actually did wonder where she disappeared to! She did a movie with Sandler too, did he hit on her also?
ReplyDeleteWasn't that around the time that Ashton was dating January Jones? From what I hear he was awful to her. Though, the general consensus seems to be that he's awful to everyone he dates/marries.
ReplyDeleteThe haters must be too young to remember how HUGE of a show Survivor was at one point. This was a great blind.
