Blind Items Revealed #1 - Old Hollywood- Mr. X
July 8, 2015
This actress was A-list for only a short period of time, then as soon as her popularity started to wane she left Hollywood for good. Partly because she got married, partly because the talkies were causing her endless stress, partly because of something else she was unaware of. Our star didn’t know that from birth she suffered from a mild form of epilepsy, which was only discovered after she passed away. They didn’t have accessible medication for epilepsy in those days, so she coped with alcohol to control her erratic behavior. Eventually, she had several nervous breakdowns and the first of several heart attacks due to these seizures and was briefly confined to a mental hospital after several suicide attempts. Very sad
Clara Bow
Interesting. Her mother had a seizure disorder, but it's believed to have been brought on by a head injury.
ReplyDeleteSo...she didn't have a lifelong "psychiatric illness"? Or both?
I don't know. I guessed her mainly because her flame lit and then extinguished so quickly....And her reputation for drama(offset). What a tale of sorrow...
ReplyDeleteSad. :(
ReplyDelete"In 1930, Bow sued her former secretary, Daisy DeVoe, for embezzling $15,000 from her. In retaliation, DeVoe told the press of party girl Clara’s uninhibited romps, including her being gangbanged by the entire University of California football team which included Marion Morrison who later became famed actor John Wayne."
ReplyDeleteThere were blind items about her way before "blind" was a thing.
Clara was raped by her father as well as abused and her schizophrenic mother attempted to stab her to death. No wonder she had so many problems.
ReplyDeleteThe biography on her by David Stenn, "Runnin' Wild," is one of the best books I have ever read. And one of the saddest.
The USC story was a fabrication.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to pick this up! Have always been interested in her. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat would make a girl crazy, being gang banged. If this were true, this is heartbreaking.
