I don't know if he had radiation therapy for his lung cancer, but radiation can cause scarring and function problems, which just make succumbing to pneumonia that much easier.
Glen Campbell maybe- been in and out a couple times I ghink(not sure how long)- on deaths door with Alzheimer's for years:( http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/17/glen-campbell-country-stars-death
I doubt this is Glen Campbell. While his mind is completely muddled by Alzheimer's, before he had to give up touring, he looked physically healthy. And I don't believe the 'jail time' portion would apply to him at all.
Randy Travis was famous long before ever being behind bars. Campbell's troubles all came along after he hooked up with Tanya Tucker and the two of them started doing a whole lot of blow.
I like the Haggard guess, but we'll know in a couple weeks time.
Nooooo.... I've loved him so many years- merlefest has been my summer hang and saw he joined a lot of new festivals in recent years. A true artist- I wish it wasn't such a painful death... Seems unfair.
Saw Merle in concert in September and it was easily one of the best performances I've ever seen. If the above BI is about him, I feel super privileged and saddened.
Glen Campbell didn't do a lot of time... but he has left his nursing home and is back with his family. Word was that he didn't have much time left & they brought him home with nursing care.
The only one I associate fame with jail time is Johnny Cash, and he's already dead. I'll go with Merle only because I didn't know he was still alive, and I don't associate Glen or Randy with prison at all.

I thought Randy Travis too, since he's reportedly been at death's door for a couple of years. (I forgot Merle Haggard was still alive - yikes!)
