This former A+ lister turned A list singer has apparently asked her sister to be a surrogate. Our singer wants kids, but does not want to take the time to be pregnant herself.
I hope her sister is wise enough to say no. Katy is still young. She has plenty of time to start a family. If she's not willing to take time off for a pregnancy, she has absolutely no business bringing a designer child into the world.
I agree with you, @Debbie, in that raising a child is a ginormous responsibility. But as I was pondering the comments, it occurred to me that if this was a man, with Katy's wealth and career, there'd be no issue taken. We don't even blink an eye when a Mick J or Jude L sire yet another child out of relationship, let alone marriage, nor do we care if dads are deadbeats in their child support payments. :(
I see no problem in this. I feel the same way I want kids but I don't like the idea of being pregnant. I know I would love and care for the child the same way. Nothing wrong here.
With her body type, at her age, pregnancy will hit her like a ton of bricks. Gravity and the linear nature of time were already going to make that body problematic in a few years, barring a lot of preventative surgical updates. This isn't about her not having "time" to be pregnant. She doesn't want to deal with what pregnancy might do to her. She's near A+ list still, and has another half decade where she can earn 50+ million a year. After that? By age 35 her shtick might be getting old, and her looks might not be as great as they are now. I can see her wanting a kid, but not all the attendant work with having it, and recovering from it.
I agree that there's a lot of sexism in our attitudes about mothers vs. fathers. But I look at someone like Ricky Martin who is a single parent and has kids through a surrogate. He waited until his career slowed down and then took time off for them. It doesn't sound like Katy's planning to do that.
Hey, nothing like family! I wonder will she pull a Coco if she goes thru with it?
ReplyDeletenot enough time to be pregnant?
ReplyDeleteso who's gonna take care of the child once born?
oh yeah right, an army of baby sitters and no father either because children don't need a father these days -_-
this should be punished and forbidden, these bitches don't deserve to be mothers when they are so fucked up in the head and selfish hypocrites.
Katy- It's a child, not a designer handbag.
ReplyDeleteShe probably knows her eggs were permanently damaged from all her (alleged) drug use.

ReplyDeletein Hollywood, a child is the same as a customized handbag.
ReplyDeleteI'd be a true, loving, caring mama to any Prada or YSL or Chanel hand bag looking for a home. :P

ReplyDeleteAs long as the sister is compensated and if she agrees to it, then I don't see a problem.
ReplyDeleteBut how is she going to generate more attention from the paps?!?
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't have time to be pregnant, but she has time to raise a child for the next 18 years?
