Blind Item #1

This A+ list mostly movie actor is quietly selling off possessions at a record pace. Apparently the IRS had some questions about some deductions and some sketchy foundations and now he has having to pay off a massive tax bill. As in $30-40M tax bill. Guess he will keep on filming franchise installments.

Depp? He was selling some pretty big things earlier this year & blaming it on wanting rid of memories of Vanessa Paradis.

Tom's donations are in question? Holy Xenu, stop the presses!
Better tell the Sea Org that their gonna have to tighten their belts. 30% of corrected yearly gross, for scrubbing toilets with toothbrushes, multiplied by 1 billion years amounts to roughly $43.75 before taxes. They've had it too good for too long anyway!

  15. so they're investigating cruise for shady tax practices BUT NOT SCIENTOLOGY???? Scientology BULLIED the IRS into giving it tax-exempt status because they are a "church" (church of scam). They threatened to tie them up in lawsuits for infinity if they weren't granted the status (talk about it a lot in Going Clear...SUCH a good documentary...I wish it would be nominated for an oscar but that would never happen.....)

@Kara - There is a great snippet in Going Clear's wiki page....:

    CAMPAIGN TO INFLUENCE OSCAR AWARDS
Following the film's success at the Emmys, the church was reported to have mounted an aggressive campaign to deny it recognition at the Oscars. The church's campaign included producing an anti-Gibney film and approaches to members of the Academy's documentary branch, responsible for selecting contenders for the awards. Several members of the documentary branch reported receiving approaches from the Church's magazine Freedom in connection with a planned profile of Gibney. Although the Church denied that its actions had anything to do with the Oscars, Lawrence Wright suggested that its "more feverish attention to the documentary" had to do with it feeling "threatened by the possibility that [the Hollywood] community would examine the church more closely" as the Oscars approached.

.....So it may have a chance at the Oscars doc category, tbh...... :)

Having a "foundation" is a great way to get rich (See: Hillary Clinton).

It's Tom Cruise but I doubt the IRS reason
If he donated money to his "church" then he is in the clear as long as Scientology is a recognized religion (and here in the US it is)
I am guessing he wants to donate his entire fortune to the church in exchange for Hubbard-like status

The church has exempt status but they have a lot of side businesses that aren't exempt.

Don't disagree with your point, except Cruise is very money-savvy. It would be completely out of character for him to make such a costly mistake

I wish the IRS would investigate $cientology and revoke their tax exempt status.

  24. I don't see Tom starting dummy corps or even being aware of his finances. He must have the same accountant as Wesley snipes or nick cage.

Many Hollywood actors, some despite lacking a formal higher education, are very successfull businessmen. Examples: Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas, Tom Cruise, David Spade, and many others. Trust
