Today's Blind Items - Kindness
I love this guy. I just do. Whenever you meet him, he is always ready to talk or take a photo. There is never an attitude with him at all. People always ask me who the nicest actors are in town, and my list generally starts with this actor. He was A list at one point. Television. Emmy winner. Heck, he won an Emmy when he was not even really trying. When he was trying, he managed to get nominated multiple times, but never won. He does movies. He does almost television. He is also very generous. He basically funds the drama department at his former high school and University. He has funded multiple scholarships and managed to convince others to donate not only to his former schools, but also convinced others to donate to their own alma maters. He has never asked for adulation. He never disrespects other people. The guy is all class and on world kindness day, he should be the actor we are discussing.
steve buscemi
ReplyDeleteBill Macy
ReplyDeleteI would say Spacey if he said Oscar winner.
ReplyDeleteHenry Winkler, with his daytime Emmy's but never winning as The Fonz.
ReplyDeleteLynne C. Lappin (1943–1996)
ReplyDeleteTrivia: Beloved Drama teacher at Valley Stream Central High School in Valley Stream, New York. One of his students was actor/director Steve Buscemi. The Lynne C. Lappin Theatre Scholarship fund is named in his honor. He was also a director of local theatrical productions in the Long Island area.
nvmnd ---never won an emmy
ReplyDeleteHow about Michael Chiklas? (sp)
ReplyDeletetony hale
ReplyDeleteEd Asner?
ReplyDeleteJimmy Smits? Has a ton of noms and one win
ReplyDeleteI like this guess.
ReplyDeleteDavid Hyde Pierce?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tallahasseemagazine.com/July-August-2014/Meet-Tallahassees-Own-Emmy-Winning-Actor-and-All-Around-Nice-Guy-Tony-Hale/
ReplyDeleteBill Murray
ReplyDeleteThere's some horrendous guesses here, it's cleary supposed to be Winkler as someone guessed above, and if Tony Hale is A list, then I must be at least a C.
ReplyDeleteOr Martin Sheen? Tons of noms, one win, done tv, movie and now Grace & Frankie on Netflix
ReplyDeleteHe - Macy -was nommed 7 X for Emmys in acting- won a prime time Emmy for outstanding writing in a miniseries. Involved on the drama boards in his HS/university- Goddard and does workshops in their towns I believe.
ReplyDeleteHale was nominated 3x for Emmys , and won twice though....
ReplyDeleteOssie Davis has both high school and college scholarship programs & an extensive giving record. His emmy was daytime, although several nominations for primetime.
ReplyDeleteI take it "won without trying" was because he was a writer and didn't expect it- or "try" .
ReplyDeleteMisread. I think there's just the one college program. My bad. RIP Ossie.
ReplyDeleteOD past away several years ago. Granted the BI does not state whether the actor is alive or not but it is perceived as if this person is.
ReplyDeleteWell, we don't actually guess for a living...it's more of a hobby.
ReplyDeleteI chose my guess based on what I know generally about the actor. If it applies for the most part I'll throw in a outlier. If my guess horrendous then let it be. Because there has been a more than few times where the answer doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteRon Perlman. He is supposed to be one of the nicest guys around. And he does movies, almost Television (FX) and Television.(Beauty and the Beast).
ReplyDeleteHale is always described here as A list btw : )
ReplyDeleteWell then say who the actor is, Enty!
ReplyDeleteThis is my guess too. I've only heard wonderful things about him.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there just a big kindness reveal about Winkler this week, with the "Jump the shark" reference? All indications are he is one of the kindest men on this planet, so I have no doubt this is him
ReplyDelete-Enty JUST had a KINDNESS BLIND on Henry Winkler a few days ago...[ 11/10 Blind Item #4 ]
ReplyDeleteanswer: Henry Winkler and the "Honorary Officer Of The Most Excellent Order Of The British Empire (OBO) "...
-Winkler gets my vote again & i think Enty's reemphasizing his kindness as a human being (as opposed to those kind aliens like E.T.).
(...and Pete )
ReplyDeleteWinkler or Lithgow
ReplyDelete@ Tricia , Macy won TWO Emmys that year for "Door To Door"
ReplyDeleteHe won for Outstanding Actor as well..
also, he's on Pay Cable "Shameless" ---(of course that could be Enty's new definition for 'Almost Television'
I love Ron Perlman too and he IS on 'Almost TV' with "Hand Of God" streaming on Amazon but i don't think he's won an Emmy...i may be wrong though.
ReplyDeleteHenry Winkler's 'Almost TV' is his "Quicken Loan" Commercials. lol
ReplyDeleteHe's on USA "Royal Pains" and Adult Swim's show but these are both cable TV NOT almost TV.
Also, Henry has also won TWO Emmys not just one...1995 and 2005..
**just a sidenote-- Henry Winkler went to YALE School Of Drama which hardly needs donations---his OTHER Alma Maters like High School & University yes...but NOT his post University Acting Alma Mater...just saying.
ReplyDeleteexcept that John Lithgow has won FIVE Emmies.... you're right though imo,one of the good guys in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteSteve Carell
ReplyDeleteI want this to be Martin Short.
ReplyDeleteerrrr, Paul not pete ffs.
ReplyDeleteMartin Sheen IS the nicest man in Show Biz! Another class act is Michael Caine. Met both, just a joy to talk to. They're the real deal.
ReplyDeletei think Martin Sheen's won 3 Emmies(i'm assuming Daytime Emmys count though) : )
ReplyDeleteDHP has won the Emmy 4 times.
ReplyDelete@ Montana. I like this guess!!!
ReplyDelete-Jimmy Smits is in upcoming Netflix Series "The Get Down"
-He was nominated 12 times for a Primetime Emmy but has only won ONE time!!
-he does alot of charity work to boot..
Sooo,in short,i'm going with @ Montana Marriott's guess of Jimmy Smits for all the reasons i cited above.
ReplyDeleteFor a kindness blind?
ReplyDeleteI'm going with Hugh Jackman. I know none of the criteria actually fits with the clue as written, so I'm ignoring all of that because he seems like a lovely person. And I like that he has stayed with his wife, even though she's not a Victoria's Secret Bimbo. Also, Pierce Brosnan, because of his general awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteI have a very, very hard time separating him from his creepy character on DEXTER. Great actor, obviously, but . . . *chills.*
ReplyDeleteI read this as Bill Murray but idk if the rating fits.
ReplyDeleteHenry Winkler......
ReplyDeletehttp://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/7-reasons-why-henry-winkler-is-as-cool-as-the-fonz/1059286/
I think John Goodman? Nominated a ton of times for Roseanne but won for a shorter guest spot on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and is on that Amazon show Alpha House.
ReplyDeleteWOW great guess!! What about James Gandolfini or Philip Seymour Hoffman? I know they're dead but they were awesome too!! Or Alison Janney? I know she's not a man but she has an Emmy right? Viola Davis has an Emmy too. So many choice right?
ReplyDeleteYes, that and the fact he is referring to this actor in the present tense. -_-
ReplyDeleteBryan cranston
ReplyDeleteBreaking bad
Malcom in the middle
There are OTHER things going on in the world, and ONCE AGAIN, I suggest you work on your READING COMPREHENSION.
ReplyDeleteMy friend waited on Martin & Emilio and they were very nice to her. You can almost always tell someone's character by how they treat the wait staff.
ReplyDeleteYes. I like this guess. John Goodman is really liked in general.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Bob Newhart.
ReplyDeleteHe won an Emmy for his guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory. Never won previously for The Bob Newhart Show or Newhart.
I have no guess, but it's pretty great that there are so many choices. Especially, it seems, in a place like Hollywood.
