This former A+ list tweener turned horrible actress and pretty decent singer has always just been booze and pot. That is why it is scary to see her with a pipe now and doing much harder drugs. She says it is a phase. Uh huh.
John Mayer went nuts over her new album, called her a genius. I'll have to give it a listen. It does seem like Miley's on her way to becoming an interesting, interested, activist woman. Her generation doesn't appear especially endowed with unique voices, which hers definitely is. There's a worthy spark buried under the circus façade. ...and I want to make her some soup, frankly.
I gotta admit, I like Miley's music, and I like her social consciousness. Yes, she's absurd, but I deal with kids her age all the time - they are all at least mildly absurd. When I was her age, I was dressing in all black and wearing a beret and a really stupid goatee and hanging out in coffee shops.
If this is her, though, I am deeply concerned. The only thing that makes me slightly skeptical is that she was not a tweener THEN an actress - her big break was as an actress. So, here's hoping it's not Miley!
Eh. Is there anything she does that Lady Gaga or Madonna did not already do? The riding of the hot dog for Bangerz? Yeah, Phish did that for NYE years before...I'm not saying she's talentless, just kind of boring once you get past the shock value. The very, very typical shock value.
"Her generation doesn’t appear especially endowed with unique voices, which hers definitely is."
I'm hoping you're just talking about the people YOU see in the public eye.....cause the giant chunk of my generation are NOT represented by these people as if they are some cultural ambassadors.
aging = bitterness over upcoming generations. the more things change, the more things stay the same. sincerely, a 28 year old.
you guys hopefully were in your twenties once. I know it seems so long ago but try to concentrate and think back. dont throw judgment at a generation unless you're willing to take a good look at what yours looked like way back when. making generalizations about a generation is transparent, just shows bitterness.
You're so cute when you're needlessly offended! I am in no way bitter, tumblrina, but I sincerely appreciate your completely misguided amateur assessment. You obviously studied psychology for half a semester 5 years ago. Thanks, you special, angry snowflake!
the whole riding the hotdog thing was first done by Ann Margaret in the Rock Opera movie "Tommy", still very sexy. Better than the imitators. No bitterness here, just enjoying life.
Look, sweetie, one thing that I do know being way, far away from 28 is how stupid I was when I was 28. So please try to understand that you speak only for yourself here, and that you know far less about this or anything else than you think you do.
She's not particularly interesting and doesn't seem intelligent or educated. She's a pop singer, I guess she's had some hit songs and good for her. I hope she doesn't blow all her money and end up broke like most of them.
Miley cyrus
ReplyDeleteMiley Cyrus. I hope SOMEONE intervenes soon because I really don't want to see her end up in the "27 club" in the future. So sad!

ReplyDeleteMiley's got talent. She's an Artist, really. Count me for another vote that she figures life out before she joins the 27 club...

You dont see Stella with her anymore, she has difficulties maintaining relationships and the break-ups give her the extreme sads.
ReplyDeletei don't think of her as an " artist", really, but i don't mind her, so, Miley, TIL now you avoided the " DIsney Damnation" please keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!

If by unique voice you mean boozy smoking ho, yeah I'll go along with that. John Mayer might want to have a go at her. It's his way of flirting.

ReplyDeleteThat is just so patronising and offensive. She has a point you are bitter and unpleasant.
ReplyDeletelmao damn that's a bitter 28 year old up there. For what it's worth, I'm 26, and I'm not quite so bitter lol.
ReplyDelete+1
ReplyDeletetired of constantly being grouped in with "coddled, entitled brats".
apparently nothing we have to say is valid since we were born in the late '80s and not the stone age.
ReplyDeleteI value the blog post.Much thanks again. Much obliged.
