This A list foreign born dual threat actor is no longer on speaking terms with his fellow countryman who won an Academy Award. It seems as if your dual threat blames his countryman and his PR team for all the rumors that surround the dual threat.
Benedict Cumberbatch/Eddie Redmayne
Eddie fears Ben? He should. Ben is a better actor. More worthy of the Oscar than Eddie.
ReplyDeleteUh, how is Cumberbatch a "dual threat"? Redmayne campaigned like crazy for the Oscar, sucked up to every single member of the Academy. He's a desperate little twerp. When he won, his icky little Gollum dance was repulsive.
ReplyDeleteSo, then, Enty, all the crap you've been posting about Cumberbatch -- his wife's a beard, she's using him, she got knocked up to force him to marry her, I don't even know what else -- you're now telling us that was all made up by Eddie Redmayne?
ReplyDeleteI love u jonathan andrewwww, i was gonna ask the same thing
ReplyDeleteJonathan's comment sums up my confusion over the Cumberbatch narrative shift here on CDaN. For months it was Hunter as the cuckolding villain and now it's she's the poor victim of mean old Redmayne's mudslinging? Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteSay it louder for the people in the cheap seats.
ReplyDeleteI don't care how much Cumberbatch stomps his feet--he has only himself and his team to blame for the terrible patch job on his shotgun wedding to a frigid Princess Margaret lookalike. By even the most generous maths, they were only dating 3 months (and even then not exclusively, judging by the mystery blondes he was photographed with from time to time) before he knocked her up.
He was very transparent in his extreme fame thirsty activities (really? Married on Valentine's Day? Only days before Oscar voting closed? And he had no idea what the significance of February 14th was? Please, pull the other leg!) and he got smacked down for it. No wonder he tucked his tail between his legs and didn't show for the SAGs and the TV BAFTAs.
Take your bitter brew, Cumberbatch, and stop complaining.
OMG. Mark, I agree with you. Benedict is blaming Eddie for this!? If that's true, does he really have his head that far up his ass? If he wants to know who to blame, he needs only to look in the mirror. Harvey Weinstein or no Harvey Weinstein, he could've put a dead stop to a vast majority of this stuff, but only God knows why he and his crack job PR team didn't. One rumor I've heard circulating the social media sites, and I believe this one is probably true, is that Benedict is being told that this showmance is working, and because he's so afraid of social media, he has no clue of how badly it's really not.
ReplyDelete@JAS, I read it as Cumberbatch blames Redmayne...not that Rednayne is guilty, or that rumors about the Cumberbatch marriage aren't true.
ReplyDeleteThis is total crap. BC is too smart to blame Eddie for starting rumours. Why would Eddie have bothered? BC had no chance to win. And no damaging stuff about BC came out until AFTER the Oscars.
ReplyDeleteThis a for-fun website that makes cash off page views. Blinds will be taken from whoever feels like submitting them, this includes batshit fans. So the “narrative shifts” you’re all complaining about are just a natural result of different people dropping whatever they feel like to entertain you, and staff making blinds off popular subjects for page views.
ReplyDeleteWhy you all think the site runner would drop legit info on this website and rely on google ad money when tabs pay a lot more, I’ve no clue. Same for someone's PR--they use big guns, like tabloids, that reach a much wider audience if they want to start a rumor or speculation.
Benedict and Eddie are probably closer friends than Benedict and Hunter. Did she submit this one herself perchance? Trying to drive a wedge somewhere. Trying to make herself look good?
ReplyDeletePenny, plenty of damaging stuff came out before the Oscars. Pretty much every move Benedict and Hunter have made has been damaging. Or at the very least unconvincing. Redmayne didn't need to start any rumours. The evidence of a shawmance between people who clearly can't stand each other has been there on every red carpet.
Yes it was a huge mess from the start but the rumours that finally made it on here were mostly later. And those were more anti-Hunter than anti-BC. As the first Mark pointed out, CDAN is now discrediting his own items. Also BC was no threat to Eddie, only Keaton was. So I agree with you, this could be Hunter just trying to make BC look bad. He and Eddie are obviously friends.
ReplyDeleteOscar campaigns are weird and vicious. Redmayne was hard at it all season. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that his PR team put out some stories about Cumberbatch.
ReplyDeleteIt's not why Cumberbatch lost. Academy voters just didn't take to his movie. That's not Redmayne's fault. Besides, "they" (the great and powerful "they") have decided that they like Cumberbatch. He'll have other chances at the Academy, Redmayne probably won't.
Oh, Eddie and Ben are very old friends. (Maybe 10 years) Eddie in an interview during the Bafta he said he was happy for Ben that he will soon get married and that he would have a child. They're both in the same situation, and Eddie was not to blame, that the PR Ben worked worse than a PR Eddie. Both gay men, both with beards, both married to award season. Well, Eddie also because of the inheritance.
ReplyDeleteEven though I don't know a lot of industry types who are fond of Eddie, this still sounds made up.
ReplyDeletesome people have very strong, quite delusional, narratives about BC
ReplyDeleteCalled it. And coincidence seems too much on the point when it happens all the time.
ReplyDeletewow, awesome article.
