Blind Item #5
I didn't think it was possible to find someone more annoying and demanding than Ariana Grande. I was wrong. This still a teen for a couple of more years B+ list singer has a rider that it is four pages long and in the rider are rules that the venue staff must follow. No one is allowed to talk to the singer or take a photo of her. No one is allowed to discuss what she does at the venue or Tweet anything about her being there. It just goes on and on. It is brutal. It talks about the bottle water brands that are acceptable and the sizes that they must be. Different sizes for different brands. Just ridiculous stuff.
lorde
ReplyDeleteshe has turned all Hollywood since hanging with the other A listers
ReplyDeleteLorde is between albums - she isn't touring or even really performing live that I can find.
ReplyDeleteI know it seems kind of silly - and the stuff about the water brands/sizes is, but part of me wonders if this is more her team of lawyers trying to create exclusivity than it is about the singer. That being said, I totally agree with the no pictures or twitter stuff. You can't be too careful these days. All it would take it one unflattering pic taken at a weird angle and it's the next big scandal..
ReplyDeleteThe thing with these Riders is that most of the time they aren't written by the artist(s), themselves. Sure they probably contain certain things the artist(s) may want to have and usually familiarity is key. And, yes, on the surface most of these Riders probably seem ridiculous or excessive. For example, I like Evian bottled water (and, no, I'm not a pretentious snob). It just tastes better, to me, and I prefer 1L bottles, ice cold. Just like some people have a particular brand of beer or soda water they prefer. Those are the kinds of items spelled-out in the rider along with other things such as dressing rooms accommodations, food for the artist(s) and crew, and other details not covered in the main contract. This is all part of the artist(s)'s performance contract and just like any contract, though there usually is a boilerplate template, individual items can be negotiated, eliminated, or added. I've seen riders that usually contain booze provisions, changed, because a certain venue may not allow alcohol on premises. Other venues may not be able to offer the exact dressing room/greenroom requirements of the artist(s) and those are altered for that venue. I'm sure in this particular case, certain provisions are included because the artist is question is still a minor (?) and her people are looking to protect her and/or her image.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Becky G? Is she touring? She is dating Austin Mahone, I could see her getting all DIVA cuz they're like the stars of the tweener world right now. and I think she just turned 18
ReplyDeleteGreat guess @Wendy. Rating and age definitely match.
ReplyDeleteKind of off topic: Anybody have any inside knowledge of what is really derailing the Iggy Azalea Fall Tour? I read the b.s. from her flack and the statements from AEG and it was all sort of jabberwocky-like. Lots of compliments all around, but no actual reason given. Evidently she is still going to play the Summer Festival circuit.
I'm not really a fan of Iggy or her music and wouldn't spend money on a ticket, but this seems like pretty big deal in the industry, given her current heat. (Wait! I may have just answered my own question -- lack of ticket sales).
Anyway, just wondering what other's thoughts on this might be...
Yes, it was because of low ticket sales. She didn't sell out anywhere. At first, she postponed the tour, now she canceled it completely.
