Blind Items Revealed #9

December 13, 2014

The actress wife of this B list mostly television actor on a show that should have been canceled before it aired but instead won the most ridiculous acting award ever was making people crazy this week talking about her craft and her vision for her role and how she meditated and chanted for hours each day to get ready for her role. She is in the movie for a couple of scenes and most people didn’t even know she was in it.

Joanna Newsom/Andy Samberg/Inherent Vice

I could see how she could drive a person bonkers, talking about her craft and whatnot, and I haven't seen Inherent Vice, so no opinion there, but Enty, dude, why throw so much shade on Brooklyn 99? We love that show! It's really, really funny.

Joanna Newsom is primarily a musician, not an actress.

If you're talking about Brooklyn Nine-Nine, that show is freaking hilarious! What planet are you from?!?!?!?!

  6. Andy Samberg is one of the unfunniest people ever. Close behind Jimmy Fallon. Fred Assmisen is third.

Newsom did the voice-over narration for Inherent Vice. She's not an actress, but she is a major new age-type hippie. While this works for her definitely spacy (and really wonderful) music (she's a master harpist and a very weird singer and songwriter), I can see how it would drive film people insane. But as this sort of behavior is widespread amongst Hollywood actors, I don't know what the big deal is.

Ben, totally agreed. Although I think Jimmy Fallon takes the top spot for THE single unfunniest person on TV. I would also add John Stewart to this list. They both have zero comic timing or wit.

  9. If Enty is talking about Brooklyn 99 we have very different ideas about what is funny. That cast is hilarious and the writing is smart and quick.

I can totally see this. Her musical alter ego St. Vincent is very, very annoying, but people that don't know any better eat her dumb pretentious first year theater major act up

Seriously, I came here just to say that!

  12. Joanna Newsom isn't St. Vincent. She goes by her own name. And her music isn't really that pretentious, it's just unusual (she's a harp playing singer/songwriter).

I love B99. I wasn't sure if it would be too much Samberg, but it's just right. The rest of the cast is perfect. I wouldn't change any of them.

Well, she only appears for a few scenes, but she does narrate the movie, so it's not like it's just some passing cameo. "Most people" don't know she's in it because most people don't even know who she is (I had not heard of her prior to the movie).

  15. Totally agree. I found Brooklyn unwatchable.
