This A-/ B+ list mostly movie actress from that vampire franchise was offered $500K to appear at a comic convention for four hours and she turned it down. She must really hate the franchise that made her a star.
Although it's ultimately her decision, what rankles me (if this is true) is that she cultivates this hipster image but then can't bring herself to grit her teeth, take the $500K, and donate it to a worthy cause. You could get about four Habitat for Humanity homes for needy families, for instance, for four freakin hours of work. One brand-new house per hour of chatting to eager fans. It sounds like a win-win situation any way you look at it.
There's no way, Kristen would do something like that. I'm not a Kristen fan but I don't blame her. There are people who would be too forward. She also wouldn't want any questions about Alicia.
I don't blame her. She already gave 5 years of her life to that insanity, how long is she required to subject herself to it before we let her walk away?
If it's Kristen, she's probably patting herself on the back right now for turning down Wondercon, because she'd be slammed with prying questions about FootFace's engagement.
If it's Anna, I still don't blame her because her career is better off because people forget she was in those films. Her role wasn't that large and she's got the best career right now out of all of those actresses.
She's amassed a $70 million dollar fortune primarily from that "insanity," so she has been very handsomely rewarded for whatever stress she bore during that period. A million-and-one actresses would kill to swap places with her, even with all of that accompanying Twilight drama. As far as prying questions, she could practice her skills by repeating, "I wish him the very best" and "I'm delighted to have such a good friend as Alicia." So many other celebrities can deflect so effectively with much thornier questions to handle.
Thank you for making a perfect example of what I hate most about fandom: the entitlement.
She doesn't owe anyone anything. They chose to spend that money on really shitty movies, she and a ton of people got rich, and now y'all own her? The series is over. If she wants to emerge herself into that feeding frenzy again it's her choice. Prior to about a decade ago, conventions were awesome because it was people from old shows you used to love and they were just happy to be there and meet fans. Now fans act like what they want is all that matters because they made that person rich and how dare they not do what their paying fans demand by being there to talk about movies they've spent the last 8-ish years being hounded over.
Ugh I hate this site. I was attempting to edit that, the page refreshed and it got posted. Whatever. I'm not tying to fight, you've got your opinion and I've got mine, and that's alright.
Anna Kendrick. Between Cesar, Chanel, Still Alice, woody Allen and Ang Lee, kristen is not in the B-range. Maybe Anna didn't want to do Pitch Perfect 2 at Wonder Con. Anna's the only Twi actress that high, but not fully A-list.
And to BiigBlue, you seem bitter. This is about Anna, not Kristen. Kristen is the only Twi actor who is part of the Twilight Storytellers contest. She is fine with the memories. And if Anna can afford not taking the money, more power to her.
Never said that she "owes anyone anything" or that her fans (I'm not one although I don't dislike her, either) own her. She can do whatever she wants. My first sentence in my post was, in fact, "...it's ultimately her decision." I was just echoing the sentiment implied by Enty's last sentence, namely, that one should be careful about turning your back on what made you super-famous, especially when you're rich enough (she's set for 2 or 3 lifetimes if she doesn't start spending like Michael Jackson) so that any additional income you make can be put towards charities/initiatives that you claim to hold dear. So, yes, she's totally free to do what she wants and, at the same time, those who feel she's being hypocritical at times in her behavior/attitude toward the phenomenon that made her rich and famous also have every right to call her on it if we want.
Fair enough, that's a reasonable perspective too. She is basically set for life, and she's not working non-stop anymore, so she has the ability to use the lingering fame to help charities and give back to the communities of people who supported her career. I know nothing about what she does and doesn't do though, so I'll stay neutral on it.
Thank you for explaining it that way, I understand your point now. Also what I was trying to edit was changing 'you' to 'fans,' to keep it non-personal. I should have made that clearer.
As someone else mentioned, Kristen just helped with the Twilight Storyteller contest. The contest was to help young women, become directors. I have never heard her say a negative word about Twilight. Perhaps she was not available, or perhaps she did not see a compelling reason to appear at a convention. The movies are over, so what is there to promote.
If this is meant to be Anna Kendrick than it could be the stalker situation keeping her from going. She is working on multiple movies also, so she could simply be too busy to do it.
If this is about Anna than Enty is wrong. She didn't get famous from Twilight. She was barely in it. Rocket Science and Up In The Air made her famous. She was in Rocket Science and Jason Reitman saw her and wrote a part in Up in the Air specifically for her. She got an Oscar nomination for it. Twilight played zero part in getting her in Up in the Air. Sorry, it just bugs me when Enty does a blind that seems to obviously be about someone but he can't bother to do some basic fact checking. How can anyone say she was famous for Twilight when most people don't even realize she was in it because it was such a small part? Enty, you don't think the movie that got her an Oscar nomination played a bigger part in her fame?
Kristin Stewart
ReplyDeleteShe'll have plenty of time in the near future to remember that time she turned down 500K because she didn't want to answer a few fan questions.
ReplyDeleteI think Enty would have Kristen Stewart as A/A+, wouldn't he?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Anna Kendrick?
Or she doesn't need money
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think that Keaton,Kilmer and other don't do convention?

ReplyDeleteAnna Kendrick or Dakota Fanning?
ReplyDeleteI think it's Kristen Stewart. If it's Anna, though, didn't she have a stalker issue? Maybe the reason.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way, Kristen would do something like that. I'm not a Kristen fan but I don't blame her. There are people who would be too forward. She also wouldn't want any questions about Alicia.
ReplyDeleteit's Kristen, Enty already posted on fb there will be BI about Twilight

Twilight fans are mostly raging lunatics. If she isn't promoting anything, then why even put yourself into that? I know I wouldn't.

ReplyDeleteShe did her time on that thing. Why should she do it any more if she doesn't want to?
ReplyDeleteSarah Michelle Gellar
