Do you remember that episode in Friends where the guy was no fun when he was sober, but everyone loved him when he was drunk? This A+ list singer has been sober for over 30 days now and everyone who sees her says they have never seen her more depressed and that she is like a robot going through the motions of each day and there is no spark in her any longer.

Fun Bobby!
ReplyDeleteFun Bobby!
ReplyDeleteAddiction sucks!
ReplyDelete-Her ex beat her probably to near unconsciousness, if not death
ReplyDelete-She's had her life, and lifestyle, blasted all over the news
-Drake v. Brown
-State(s) v. Brown
-Feds v. Brown
-her stupid Karruche Tran love triangle
-Brown's new baby
.... Thats a lot to deal with. She probably needs rehab, but honestly, who wouldnt after all of that?
Geeze give her a break if it's true. Who expects someone to get their groove back within a month of kicking an addiction?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the obsession with being "fun"? Does she need to be fun to be normal? I don't think so. Life isn't a bucket o' sunshine. Shit happens & she's a successful person who has wide-ranging concerns. She be aight.

ReplyDeleteSo true.
What do you expect for going sober. Good for her if she follows thru.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that she was sober. Hope she still is.
ReplyDeletewho says she's depressed? it's such a myth that addicts are having 'fun.' shit, they don't even remember the 'fun' most of the time. she may be on a little something (i'm hoping she's being monitored by a physician) to take the edge off. she would really benefit from a genuine hitch in rehab though.
ReplyDeletewhatever the case, 30 days is nothing when it comes to being sober. it takes months, maybe a year for the fog to lift. i hope she sticks with it---i always pull for anyone who wants to quit.
I often wonder in situations like this if people in her entourage aren't upset at the change in her personality. Sobriety means less fun for everyone around her. It is usually soon followed by the person with money cutting deadweight out of their lives. Which means the gravy train ends. Maybe she doesn't want to be a fall down drunk who puts her life on the line a la Whitney Houston.
ReplyDeleteThat's typical when you get off drugs/alcohol. It takes a few months to feel normal and like yourself again. I hope she's sober and happy now.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Recovery 101. Addicts are unable to exist without the drugs or alcohol when their addiction is raging. It takes time.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with all the comments. 30 days is still very early. Maybe give this person a break.
ReplyDeleteStay with it. It'll be worth it.
ReplyDeleteBreaking addiction is tough and miserable but she will be better soon. Good for her. She can afford a luxurious holiday to take away the misery. Brunei has a ban on alcohol and is a beautiful island with orangutangs. Just what she needs. Nature and rest.
ReplyDeleteWhitney Houston should have tried being less fun, maybe she'd still be alive.:/
