What A++ list actor and Oscar winner/nominee never slept with his frequent leading lady in the early 1940s (as is frequently reported), because he knew his wife would raise hell and immediately call every gossip columnist in town? After his wife’s sudden death, the leading lady swooped in to try to comfort him in more ways than one, but with no success. They still remained great friends until the actor’s death.
Clark Gable/Lana Turner/Carole Lombard
I seriously doubt that was the only reason Gable didn't sleep with Lana Turner until after Carole Lombard died, considering she could hardly contact the tabloids from beyond the grave and he still never slept with Lana even after her death.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone read these before they hit 'publish'?
Wooo! I read that Clark and Carole fought all the time!
ReplyDeleteYes George Raft was A+ Enty
ReplyDeletePlanet J they did it to Tony Curtis real name Bernard Schwartz.
Wrong spot fucking website :(
ReplyDeleteBwaahaha! Dontcha hate it when that happens?! : D
ReplyDeleteTwo things come to mind on this:
ReplyDeleteClark Gable was so in love with Carole Lombard, that losing her would be the most devastating thing that could ever happen to him; and two, when she did die in the plane crash in route from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, he spent weeks in Sandy Valley, NV searching for her.
Thus the loss was so great, even Lana Turner could not soothe his pain.
That's so sad!
ReplyDelete@Kno If you are in to reading books..you should def check out the "The Garden of Allah" series by Martin Turnbull..the first book in the series is called "The Garden on Sunset". I think you'd really like it! If you have a kindle..the first book is free, but the rest you have to pay for..they are so worth it,tho. imo.
ReplyDeleteSo is the rumor that Lana Turners daughter Cheryl was Clark Gables?
ReplyDeleteThat is sad. I am a sucker for a great love story.
ReplyDeleteCrawford was the one that provided the post-plane crash comfort. She'd had a fling with Gable before he met Lombard, but according to ol' Joan, she and Clark never stopped sleeping together.
ReplyDeleteNo. Loretta Young had a daughter by Gable, (who looked EXACTLY like him) out of wedlock, while she had this devout Christian image going on. She raised the girl as her ADOPTED daughter.
ReplyDeleteI always did love Carol Lombard. She was awesome and didn't put up with crap.
ReplyDeletetheres a great book, Fireball, which deals with the accident and aftermath. Very sad.
