    What's the secret!?!!?!?

To be fair, she's also attending much more high profile events, and more of them, as Clooney's wife. She'd need a bigger wardrobe. Still..even $2500 a month on clothes is ridiculous to me.

  3. Eh.. if she has a stylist most of her event outfits are probably loaners.

What she wears on the red carpet is on loan..not included. This explains why she looks so ridiculously over-dressed when flying or eating lunch when everyone else is in jeans. Also explains why she gives the paps a 'walking schedule' of where to find her..wants to display the new wealth. This pair won't be even slightly interesting until he starts cheating.

She needs the wardrobe and George doesn't care so what's the problem

Makes her indignant response of "My robes" to the 'who are you wearing' question all the more hypocritical. Can't have it both ways, honey. Either you're a serious/successful human rights attorney (and those who are wouldn't dream of spending just shy of a million a year on clothes) or you're a pap ho vying for best dressed.

  8. I don't wear jeans to fly or eat lunch in either.
    I love dresses.
I think more women need to dress up--we look like slobs.
I won't fault her. She knew the contract and George is loaded.

THAT IS NOT WHAT AMAL SAID!! what she said was actually quite quick witted & somewhat mocking the silly question as she is walking into Court on a serious matter! She replied w/o a beat: "I am wearing Ede & Ravenscroft" which is the Oldest Tailor in England(est.1689) &who have been making the Robes for the Judiciary for over 300 years. It was a great reply imo!

Syntax aside, $900,000 a year on clothes comes across rather frivolous. No matter how witty. Had she actually earned that money herself, I might hold more regard for her. Rather doubt she'd be such a spendthrift if she had.

@NoWhining, i get your valid & excellent point & I agree. spending obscene amts.of $$$ on material stuff like shoes & clothes does not bode well whilst arguing for HumanRights-esp.since so many of the downtrodden don't even have any shoes or clothes. She can easily come across as hypocritical & disingenuous. My pronouncement "that is not what Amal said" was directed @the general media who that misquoted her,not @ you! Because SO MANY Media Outlets misquoted her(where I assumed you probably read it,as I did) I immediately thought "what a snarky entitled bitch!" In short, i thought the Media was really misleading b/c what she actually said & the obvious point that she was making DID make a difference of her intent & it changed my opinion of her.I wasn't addressing your point about her being a spendthrift at all- it's a good point! In short,my point was irresponsible reporting by the media...ok?? i hope i didn't offend you,i guess i just wasn't clear! cheers!! : )

Actually, she can and does have it both ways. Good for her.

Nope. George likes grown men, dear.

  16. $2500/month is not a lot of money for a barrister of her "caliber" to spend at a clothing store. I'm surprised that she doesn't spend more, given it's her favorite store.

***I should add a disclaimer that I really LIKE Amal Clooney(as evidenced in my defense of her in earlier blinds)*** : )
    - as i said above, these actions CAN come across as hypocritical, but frankly, i think she pulls it off & toes the line very well & I think she is very effective & genuinely good at what she does.

No journalist asked who she was wearing. Clooney PR briefed the media to make it appear Amal had made a smart fem retort. The journo had pointed out it was ridiculous paps were allowed at such a serious hearing. He said "they probably expected you to turn up in Versace" HE was the one to snark about media trivialising of a woman at work. Clooney capitalised on it and in the process made a well-intentioned serious journo look like a dumbo. So much of the career woman thing with her is PR not actual. I don't think "George as gay" is the secret. She (her people) must have something deeper on him to explain this whole marriage set-up. She's up to much more than just bearding.

@back again: Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm disappointed in this reveal, the other concerning the reality show and, I'm sure, more reveals to come. She could have set an example, as a successful, professional woman, but instead seems to go the cliched route. Perhaps I'm wrong and all of this was taken out of context. Time will tell.

@back again: Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm disappointed in this reveal, the other concerning the reality show and, I'm sure, more to follow. As a successful, professional woman, she has the opportunity to set an example (and break a few stereotypes) but seems to have gone the cliched route. Perhaps all this blind item content has been taken out of context. Time will tell.

for the record, i called total & utter B.S. on the Reality Show Crap-as i said she's been quietly doing her intense & serious job years before she even knew how to spell Clooney- no way would she go that route-it's her brains, substance & priorities that impressed clooney-& a Reality Show would not be a priority for her.She was thrust into the public spotlight-she did not yearn for it like all these other wannabes-she had her fun,her splashy wedding, they bought their place in England, now she's back to work demanding a meeting w/the President Of Egypt for the release of the 2 Al-Jazeera Journalists-yeah...so, i don't think a reality show is on her so-called 'Bucket List'-total horse manure...& btw, i'd up my wardrobe ante too if i had such an oppurtunity..& I too am an Attorney

She earns serious money, though not in George's league. Regardless, they've been married less than a year. How many times has she really spend $75,000 in a month? Probably not every month but it makes for a good swipe at her.

wow @Heathering..that's new to me--All these conspiracy Theories on "The Marriage" - it'll be interesting to see how this all turns out in time--it certainly will give Enty lots of material from which to work though,eh???--i thinks it's fun..i have to say her schooling & her resume is damn impressive by anyone's standards & most of it is pre-Clooney... inlated????time will tell..As The World Turns...hahaha stay tuned!!

@Back Again it's known over here, UK, that pre the Clooney dating Amal public announcement there was significant editing/embellishing done to her visible prior credentials. No outright false claims but a certain blurring around the edges over her past work. Blurring which has distorted the now received opinion re her human rights work and her role in some cases. Her personal online social media (not all of which gave a favourable impression for the unassuming career woman narrative) disappeared entirely - although some remains in screen caps. There is a lot of myth building being done. As to the much PR'd robe comment:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/armenia/11376127/Amal-Clooney-and-her-robes-A-tale-told-in-tweets.html

I had hope of her being a public figure of some substance but, sadly, her priorities and ability to be so are increasingly more questionable.

  31. She's not really working for the downtrodden but trying to fix or set international law for political prisoners and the like. It's also been spelled out that she is not top dog at her place of work but gets assigned to projects.

A girl has got to look good. Why would George care about a measly $75K. The way his wife looks is a reflection on him. There doesn't have to be a secret.

These rumors about Amal are most likely started by jealous celebs who are used to being queen bees in the tabs and don't take lightly to being displaced.

I actually like Amal Clooney, at least for what she does. And I think even before she was ever in the spotlight because of George, she has always had expensive taste in fashion. Im pretty sure she can afford to dress herself expensively, and now that they're married, she's entitled to George's money too. Not in a condescending way, but isn't that part of being married? Being able to share what the other one has. People just always put a damper on issues, just because they're celebrities, and this is George Clooney.

I agree! I really REALLY wanted to like her, and I DID back when she used to wear torn jeans and bulky scarves. She seemed cute and serious and smart and even a little bit shy. As soon as the wedding hit, though, the pageant hair, designer clothes, and smug expressions appeared, and she morphed into "Mrs. Clooney: Movie star wife". Bums me out.

I don't get people putting down Amal because she is not lead counsel on her cases. At my old law firms younger lawyers fought like jackals for the good high profile cases. Only the best and brightest are assigned to them. She wouldn't be on those matters if she wasn't good at her job.

  35. realitystar12:19 PM

It's not $7,500 a month but $75,000. The secret? Well, he is gay but I also think there could be more to it. I don't respect someone who willfully gains from someone else's secret. And, I believe it all.
No self-respecting woman marries a man with the dating history that Clooney has garnered, whether true or fictionalized, so quickly and readily.

  36. Malibuborebee12:23 PM

People put Amal down because it's a way to put Clooney down. It's mostly underachievers snapping at the heels of people whose accomplishments they'll never match.
