This foreign born B- list mostly movie actress who is a very recent Academy Award winner/nominee and presenter yesterday is being accused of lightening her skin. She is. Apparently the company behind her biggest endorsement deal asked her if she would and she agreed.
Um what. Is this supposed to be Lupita?
ReplyDeleteLupita Nyaogo--Lancome
ReplyDeleteOMG, if this *is* Lupita for Lancome, shame on both of them! I've been using Lancome for decades, but will stop if this is them. Shame, shame, shame.
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful not *in spite* of her dark skin - her skin is an integral part of her beauty....this makes me so sad.
It's very occasional that we've seen dark skinned women celebrated in beauty & fashion. I remember in the 70s there was a very prominent, very dark skinned supermodel whose name escapes me, unfortunately. It was so refreshing to not see the sameness on the runway or magazine covers...but she didn't actually herald a sea change. The planet looks very little like the runway. Beauty is many things, why must everything be hammered into a specific, worn out model? This infuriates me.
Riiiiight and when you see pics of her from last night and last year, mama looks exactly the same. I miss the days when the gossip on this site was actually believable, SMDH
ReplyDelete..especially after her whole riff on dark skinned women & beauty. So I'm going to say it isn't her, simply because I don't want it to be.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the tangent. I really hate this crap.
ReplyDelete@montanamarriott...don't think he means lighten her actual skin...just in post...photoshop ads
ReplyDeleteWell it is the Scandal star Kerry Washington who appears lightened up in magazine ads though she vaguely addressed the issue. http://nypost.com/2015/02/05/instyle-takes-heat-for-light-kerry-washington-cover/...who does she shill for?
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I hope its not Lupita Nyaogo..she is beautiful the way she is! For the other 70s model you were thinking of ..was it 70s and 80s model Grace Jones? or Beverly Johnson?. They both had beautiful dark skin.
ReplyDeleteKate Blanchett? Never mind she's A list. Felicity Jones?
ReplyDeleteJennifer hudson
ReplyDeleteI know that this is supposed to be Lupita, but this is a bullshit lie! Most likely from a twitter hater named Sandra. People have been trying to make Lupita out to be lighting her skin. This is a proud DARK SKIN woman. Lancome wouldn't ask her to lighten her skin, and this is just a blatant lie. Do better and start fielding the people who submit blinds, because they are making shit up!
ReplyDeleteNo way this is Lupita. Just remember her acceptance speech from last year - would she betray everything she believed in, everything she said in that speech? NO. Plus I think she knows her dark skin is part of her beauty and her appeal. She OWNS it. She got plenty of magazine coverage with her dark skin, and besides, don't you think, if ads started appearing with her skin significantly lighter, this would blow back onto her and onto the cosmetics company in a BIG way. Massive backfire.
ReplyDeleteIt could be true about somebody else but frankly I'm inclined, like other posters, to think this is utterly bullsh*t.
Lupita is the only non-white foreign borned woman on the list of presenters.
ReplyDeleteI hope it isn't true. These lighteners can damage the melanin and then, you are spotty and it takes a long time to fix again.
White folks over tanning to orange and darker folks lightening. Just be glad with what you have ....so ridiculous!
They went on twitter and read Sandra Rose's tweets and added their own thing. Lupita is a whole lot darker than she was last year. Stop trying to bring her down for hits on this site who haven't had true tea for a while now
