Blind Item #1
This actress used to be A list. She was kind of like the Sarah Silverman of her decade, but Sarah has always been nicer. Our former A lister was on some of the greatest television shows of all-time. I am particularly fond of an old pay cable comedy show on which she had a recurring character. The next thing you know she is the lead in movies. She couldn't handle it though. Stress almost killed her. Even today the stress from that time has led her to have problems such as hair loss. Not just a few hairs, but she is almost bald and has to wear wigs.
Janine Garafolo (or however you spell her name).
ReplyDelete+1! Absolutely Janine:(
ReplyDeleteAmy Sedaris
ReplyDeleteLily Tomlin
ReplyDeleteI like the Janeane G guess but what TV shows has she done (besides SNL)?
The Larry Sanders show
ReplyDelete@ HHH she was part of the ensemble cast of HBOs Larry Sanders show and was awesome
ReplyDeleteThen went onto lead roles in The Truth about Ctas and Dogs(post Reality Bites)
*Cats
ReplyDeleteShe was also in at least one season of 24
ReplyDeleteJaneane G has 134 credits on imdb. She's a regular on that scripted bravo show right now. She's done heaps of TV, including as a regular on West Wing and Criminal Minds. #themoreyouknow
ReplyDeleteIt's GFs guide to Divorce(I watch it) I posted that earlier- didn't go through :(
ReplyDeleteShe is clearly wearing extensions/ or a wig and actually has never looked better. But she's also already been released from the show with her character written out. I imagine enty knows a bit about the difficulty working with her.
She was on West Wing and also on 24 for a season, IIRC.
ReplyDeleteJeanne g good guess..brett butler also on Larry Sanders, and known for falling apart, losing it all.
ReplyDeleteJanine plays the best friend on Bravo's scripted show "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce"--she looks the same as she always did--not sure if the hair would be a wig or not.
ReplyDeleteThe West Wing. Too bad, I've always loved her :S
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like she was wearing a full wig in 2009-10.
ReplyDeleteShe was on "Broad City" this week, wearing very obvious hair extensions.
Janeane Garofalo
ReplyDeleteI hope it's not Janeane Garofalo. She has a lot of fans, including myself, that would be devastated if anything terrible ever happened to her.
ReplyDeleteTricia yeah thanks I was wondering what happened to her character.?? She just poof?? Gone!! Seemed I'll fitted anyway. Was she difficult or couldn't handle the pressure??
ReplyDeleteI saw janine in NYC when I lived there and she always wore a bandana or wrap around her head
ReplyDeleteSorry for Late response @ sugarbread.
ReplyDeleteIt's been suggested it's was a personal clash between JG and the lead Lisa Edelstein, who has a bit more CC on show. All the same, I love Janine and Nd her brand of humor:)
* and. She really is funny, actually. (dry/ sardonic).
ReplyDeleteHow could you tell that Janeane was wearing a wig?
ReplyDeleteAsk enty.
ReplyDeleteBut you said the she "was clearly wearing extensions/wig", how could you tell?
ReplyDeleteActually, she's always gotten along super well with Lisa and they've known each other for years. Lisa was also the one to push for Janeane to be on the show. The issues JG had were with creator Marti Noxon. Creative differences about her character.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you hear this? Marti's been claiming on Twitter that JG wanted to go on the road more, rather than act.
ReplyDeleteMarti's notoriously hard to get along with.
Because Tricia is GOD. Except God pays attention to his or her children.
ReplyDeleteWhether Janeane is balding, bald or has a full head of hair, I love her. She's my favorite comedian of all time. I've met her several times and she was one of the nicest, most down to earth people I've ever met. Her stand up act is still fantastic.
ReplyDeleteJaneane's resumé also includes The Ben Stiller Show, which was never a ratings hit, but was much beloved by its audience. (Breaking Bad's Bob Odenkirk was also on it.) This is definitely her.
ReplyDeleteShe can be very nice one-on-one, but she can also rub people the wrong way. In his book (Grasping for Airtime), Jay Mohr (also not the nicest person) talks about the resentment Janeane stirred up at SNL by going to the press and claiming she wasn't getting in sketches due to sexism, when there were plenty of male cast members/"featured performers" who couldn't get their sketches on the air, either. (Did you know Mike Myers originally only had a writer's contract and didn't have any sort of office? He would sleep on the floor by the elevators, that's how far down the pecking order he was, initially.)
That said, I'm sorry to hear that the career stress had such a permanent physical effect. I wonder if she's considered hair plugs, just to have a "short look" she can claim she's wearing for convenience.
Well of course Marti wouldn't reveal that kind of detail. You nailed it!
ReplyDeleteIt's true that JG also wanted to go back on tour but the 'tension' with Marti made it an easy choice. Marti's great..as long as you get along well with her and don't question her choices. She can't stand criticism and indeed she can make it hard to work with her.
If your a fan of Janeane and your on Facebook please check out my page We Love Janeane Garofalo. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's odd, she's so open her her Spanx in her standup act, and has admitted to Botox. You would think she would have made a remark about this.
ReplyDeleteSo that's why she's claiming to be asexual, it's not that she has a fear of intimacy, it's that the she has a fear getting her wig/hairpiece/extensions pulled off during intercourse. Well played Janeane.
