Mr. X Blind Item #8 - Old Hollywood
What foreign born A/B-list actress best known for her off-screen liaisons, volcanic temper and her mysterious death, appeared in several stag films before she was famous, some of them being girl-on-girl?

Lupe Velez?
ReplyDeleteCarmen Miranda?
ReplyDeleteVelez is a good guess, but didn't know her suicide was mysterious
ReplyDeleteYeah, just saw in an article, very strange.
ReplyDeleteGreat guessBrin! I looked at so many women I thought died mysteriously just because they WERE mysterious(Maria Schneider, Greta Garbo, Marlene D etc) turns out they all lived till old age!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading Errol Flynn' s My Wicked Wicked Ways. He had a story about Lupe Velez. She got pissed about something he did ( constant man whoring?) . Can't quite recall the details but she tore up some paper and peed on it right there. supposedly she was found with her head in the toilet barfing up Seconal. Turns out she put on her best outfit laid down nicely and died.
ReplyDeleteIKR?! I thought of Carmen too but she died of a heart attack. When I looked up Lupe, all the clues were there. These old ones are kind of fun.
ReplyDeleteGuess the "Spitfire" nickname was right!
ReplyDeleteJoan Crawford.
ReplyDeleteNever mind. No mysterious death. Also, A-list.
ReplyDeleteThink Lupe, he dad was in Mexican army & died when she was 15. Her family moved to Mexico City & she had to start working. Her mom was an old has been vaudeville preformer. Lupe was the oldest of 5 kids.
ReplyDeleteRead Hollywood Babylon for how she tried to kill herself & how she really died.
Awesome!! I saw an episode of Frasier where Roz told her whole story to Frasier and I never knew it was an actual person!
ReplyDeleteヽ(•‿•)ノ found it!

Hollywood Babylon got it wrong, Lupe Velez did not die puking up a meal in the toilet. She was found fully dressed on the floor. Photo proof
ReplyDeleteHollywood Babylon just collected gossip that he heard from his grandma, no it was nothing new, & no it is not completely accurate, like this site.
ReplyDeleteI was really angry watching that Frazier episode where they laugh about Lupe. I always loved watching her movies on AMC.
