When is the last time you used a VCR or recorded something on a VCR. Do you remember what you recorded?

    1. Like a video of when I was younger, recorded on an old timey video camera.

  2. The last time I used a VCR was a couple of years ago, to watch the original "Wicker Man" (oh so worth it - infinitely superior to that steaming pile of crap Cage tried to pass off as a "remake")

  7. My husband and his friends grew up filming videos as teenagers. Before jackals, they were messing around with a camera. So I got to see a bunch of videos of Mr. Bunny at 16-21 acting a fool. It was hysterical and his body at 21 was a sight to behold (he had an eight pack, now be has more of a four pack, but better than the sixer his buddy are sporting)

    1. Jackass not jackals! My phone is clutching her pearls, keeping it PG rated around here.

  8. My mother uses hers Monday - Friday to record her "stories" while she's at work. She also has a VHS tape rewinder. It's probably how she's had her VCR for so many years. It never has the stress of rewinding. I showed her my DVR, & she is intrigued but not ready to make the leap yet.

  12. About a month ago to watch my video of "Chinatown" (best movie of the seventies). Sadly I discovered that the tape has faded quite a bit and had to go out and get it on DVD. However I have a zillion old videotapes. From about 1998 to 2003 or 2004 I ran the VCR practically nonstop for TCM. In the last couple of years my movie watching has tailed off, mostly because of lack of time. But every now and then I get the urge to pop something in and watch it. Admittedly I also have loads of movies on the DVR and it is easier to use. Earlier this week I watched "The China Syndrome".

  13. @rolotomassi - You should hear how pissed she gets when the VCR automatically adjusts for daylight saving time. Of course, it's at a different time than we have now so it jumps on her, & she gets the wrong stuff twice per year. I told her how nice it would be to set up a season pass & walk away.

  17. You just reminded me, got to put the Blue's Clues and Barney VHS tapes on Freecycle and get room back in my coffee table trunk that I haven't used in years.

  18. Lady H, I LOL'd at that.

I taped some Rolling Stones special that was on probably in the mid 90's.

  19. Last recorded - when was Adam on American Idol? 2009 or so?

Last watched - last year some time, Schoolhouse Rock.

On one of my TVs I have a VCR/DVD combo attached. The DVD part stopped working so I bought a DVD player and attached it to that machine with the RCA plugs. Yes, I am cutting edge. If it would die I would replace it.

    1. Writer girl, I still have my actors reel on VHS and a player to watch it but far too horrified to actually do it. . I'm sure your documentary is much better.

  23. I remember I got my TiVo around when Lost premiered, so sometime before that. I definitely remember tapping Tru Calling on my VCR. It was a short lived show with Eliza Dushku and Zach Galifinakis. That's the last thing I can remember tapping.

  24. Must have been at least 7 or 8 years ago since I got a PVR. Probably a hard to get movie, I think it was a made for UK TV movie with Gary Oldman, Stephen Dillane and Joely Richardson. Loved it.

    Cool writergirlinLA I love documentaries!

  25. Every Tuesday nite.
There are three programs on at once & my DVR can only do two at a time.
So the third goes on the VCR.
Same thing on Sundays, due to the overrunning football games.

  30. Last thing I recorded was the 2002 NCAA Lacrosse Championships. Syracuse beat Princeton on the Rutgers field. My son played defense for Syracuse. I didn't go to the game due to the fact I couldn't drive because I had bursitis in my shoulder and there was no way I would spend 6 hours in the car with my ex-husband.

  31. Pretty sure the last VHS movie I watched was The Krays starring the brothers from Spandau Ballet. It's an awesome movie and it STILL isn't available on DVD but you can still buy it on VHS. How stupid is that?

Last VHS tape I bought was True Romance with Christian Slater & Patricia Arquette. Actually the very FIRST VHS tape I ever bought was Heathers with Christian Slater & Winona. Back when Slater was in some good shit.
