The revealing clothes are for attention and shock value. Funny thing is, once it's been done, it becomes old. JLo's green dress is tame compared to what Miley's is...and JLo's dress was all anyone talked about for days on end.
I wonder what they're going to do in 20 years, when women literally start showing up naked. Then what? You can't get more naked than naked.

Riri's dress looks like window dressing. Or hospital gauze. The leg out with thigh-highs and the bra/no bra is not even striking or edgy, it's boring like Miley's dom dress.
Miley's young & has a great body. Why shouldn't she have fun? She's certainly not getting arrested left & right and famewhoring around with pap-shot set-ups.

I think the difference in JJ can be attributed to the circumstances under which she is being photographed. Street shots are usually by the paps who are mostly obnoxious and ask the most rude and personal questions while they are trying to get a reaction out of who ever they have their camera lens on. Red carpets tend to be events a celebrity wants to be seen at an tolerate the wall of cameras for whatever cause they may be there for.
