This former almost A+ list mostly television actress who went from late night to movies to prime time now does a little bit of everything. What she and her best friend don't do though is talk to this A+ list mostly movie actor who started in roughly the same spot or his frequent co-stars. There is definitely a war between two sides and you have to clearly come down on one side or the other if you are from their group.

Tina was one of the early guests for Fallon's Tonight Show.
Sandler, on the other hand, has burnt bridges with SNL, but Fey or Poehler are mostly pawns in the war. The real reason is that Sandler was fired in 1995 (after quite a long stint) to make way for a new bunch of people (Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Cheri Oteri), and that he moved to film without Lorne Michaels being involved, as he loves to shepherd the film career of his proteges. Even if the Happy Madison productions from Adam Sandler are quite bad, particularly these days, they've been immensely profitable for Sony and Michaels never got a cut from it.
That's why there's some bad blood between the two of them, and that's why Sandler basically did two or three cameos on SNL but never hosted the show.

It may not be just about the dollars, especially as Tina Fey doesn't look like an ass-kisser to Lorne Michaels, but there may be some money involved in the initial beef. Over the years, the rift can widen for other reasons and get ugly when other people get involved.
ReplyDeleteFey and Poehler also had a cameo in the fight scene from Anchorman 2 (and Poehler had a separate one as a bank teller in the original cut of the first Anchorman).

ReplyDeleteThe only thing is i have only heard wonderful things said about Adam by everyone. And schneider? He should be washing sandlers feet because you know he'd never get any work otherwise. He is as talentless and unamusing as the day is long.
