The Photo Hacker Is Back

Yesterday, more celebrity photos were leaked to the internet in the continuation of what occurred over Labor Day weekend. This time the list includes celebrities who were on the list before like Jennifer Lawrence, Kaley Cuoco and Aubrey Plaza, but also those who are having their privacy violated for the first time. So far the list includes, Emily Ratajkowski, Vanessa Hudgens (not the photos that were released of her previously), Kate Bosworth, Gabrielle Union,. Hayden Panettiere, Hope Solo, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Leelee Sobieski, Kim Kardashian, Bella Thorne and Lake Bell. Apparently there is also another example of possible child porn in the mix because Liv & Maddie star Dove Cameron was probably under 18 when her nude photos were taken. The Bella Thorne photos are not nude so they have been posted online. The sites that previously hosted all the photos have been taking the pictures down as fast as they are uploaded, but are getting overwhelmed by the sheer volume.

      I agree about the privacy part. And he comes the 'but'... If they are stolen from personal devices then that is really bad. BUT if they were taken on a cell phone that is backed up on a cloud then they are taking this chance and need to deal with the outcome. People need to realize that when things are out there on a cloud or the internet then they are game for anyone to try to get to. Is it fair or nice? No, absolutely not. But can it happen? Yes. Is it more likely and going to garnish more interest if you are a celeb? Absolutely. Take nudes , but don't allow them to be put in a place that is accessible to others.

      They're not accessible to anybody they're accessible to hackers. It's not like they're uploading them to instagram or something. This is no different than if you took photos with a Polaroid and somebody broke into your house and stole those pictures.

    Look it's the same as walking in a dark alley at night or an unlit parking lot alone. Bad shit happens and you protect yourself. You don't leave yourself vulnerable and then cry after saying 'why me?'. I would rather take every precaution so that I can limit the amount of terrible events in my life rather than waste energy trying to heal after each one. The hacker did not strike again on the dumb celebs who didn't change their password. The hacker didn't release everything on Labor Day. And maybe they still have more... And who wants their credit card info stolen from their cells? What about commenters questioning if Keanu and Sandra Bullock had security systems on their homes? You have to take personal responsibility when you leave yourself vulnerable.

    I'm thinking that the hackers grabbed everything they wanted before the first big picture release, and are putting the pictures out in stages now; it wouldn't matter if anyone who was hacked has changed their security settings, because the hackers already have what they wanted.

    Personally, the only way I'll look at any of these is if the hackers involves start posting explicit nudes of some of the male stars out there as well; after all, what's sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander, right? Unless, of course, the whole idea was to humiliate as many female celebrities as possible in one fell swoop, which (based on the way too many members of the hacker/geek/gamer communities behave) would be entirely in character for them.

I should be able to keep things in my phone, in the cloud, while I walk around nude in my home that doesn't have a security system. If some sick, lawless, demented fuck comes into my home uninvited, steals from me, rapes me, or hurts me, it is not my fault.     I love how someone can be focused on the stuff on someone's floor.

    These are pictures that people took of their own selves, so they exist. Going from the subject viewing them, to a select few viewing them, to many unintended people viewing them, only means that the photo subject lost control of who sees the pics. This is very different from breaking and entering, theft (when you are deprived of your Polaroids or whatever), and the more ridiculous hyperbole.

    Aubrey Plaza won this round, but Emily was also excellent. And a better previous "legit" nude model to see than Jenny McCarthy.

    The pics are attractive female celebrities because that is what the hackers like, what their audience likes, and, judging from the magazine covers at the supermarket, exactly what everyone likes.

    The truly disturbing thing (to me anyway) about the Kimye rumour is that I find it totally believable because there's nothing she (or PMK) won't do for headlines.

    On t'other hand (hee): imagine how many folks who rarely/never visit porn sites are now navigating to way-dodgy URLs to peek at celeb nakeds? NOT just the guys who eventually learn to play safely--ie, the tons of ppl who were accessing porn sites (& contracting VSTDS [virtual stds; ie, malware])--5 mins into their 1st-ever online session; no, there are millions of rarely/nevers feasting their almost-virgin eyes on famous fumblings as never before... Think of the possibilities.

    If I was a hacker w/this gang, I'd have planned all along to upload these pix onto a temp server in order to do a quiet mop up of fresh ID data. At the very least, surely some indys are cashing in?Or not; maybe mine is just a hopelessly criminal mentality ;D...
