Snoop Dogg Uses Anti-Gay Slur Then Deletes Tweet

Early yesterday morning, a comment was posted to Snoop Dogg's Instagram. He replied to it by posting a photo of the man in question with the man's male partner. Snoop said some fairly nasty things and then finished off his comment by using the f word to describe the guy. About 30 minutes after the comment, Snoop deleted it but hasn't responded or apologized and his publicist hasn't had any comment either. I have to say that I'm really disappointed by what Snoop said. This is a guy who is obviously very liberal when it comes to some of his beliefs, especially when it comes to his right to smoke as much pot as he wants at all times and doesn't want anyone to interfere with that right. He seems like he has a lot of love for people in general but then you find out he is a homophobe or at least from his words is perceived to be. I doubt he would appreciate being called any kind of slur in relation to his race, but by his actions he thinks it is fine to do make an anti-gay slur and judging by some of the comments on his page, some of his fans also feel the same way. This is something that Snoop needs to apologize for and do so in a very strong way. It just isn't right.

  1. Is anyone, ANYONE, surprised that a rapper used a homophobic slur? Nobody? Okay

  2. I think rappers using homophobic slurs is the least of the problems with rap music today. Everything they say or do is offensive towards some group. My favorite rapper is eminem and he's a misogynistic asshole but dammit I love his more serious songs.

  3. @Jack--nope
Nothing is worse than some of Eminems early lyrics.
But at least Snoop apologized and owned up to it---we all say things we regret---though blatant prejudice as never been my forte

    1. I agree, Derek. The only reason I allow myself to listen to the eminem songs I do is because I recognize that eminem/slim shady isn't exactly the same as Marshall. They're personas so I can overlook them for the most part. But by nature rap music is offensive and I'm sure snoop has said worse in his music than he did on instagram.

    2. Today's rap music is offensive. Early rap/hip hop is not.

  8. @derek, Snoop hasn't apologized.

I read an article once that was written by a gay black man, and he mentioned that it was hard enough to be black, but to also be black and gay means you get triple the trouble. From bigoted white people, homophobic black people, and your dad. It doesn't surprise me at all that Snoop would use that term. He's a swaggering kind of man who would be mortally offended if you even intimated that he likes the wang.

    1. Yeah the black community can be very very homophobic. Shit being biracial and gay fucking sucks sometimes. You're a deviant no matter what. What snoop said was wrong and sad and his fans reactions are really fucked up but none of it is surprising.

      Delete
    2. I honestly don't think it is the black community as a whole, that's a unfair generalization. However, the hip hop community tends not to be open in this area unfortunately.

    3. @Connie: you should read about the Down Low culture. Lots of secrecy and not using protection which is leading to exposure to high incidents of STD's.

  9. Someone said that word to me the other day and it made my blood boil. I used to say it myself, but now it just hurts too much. It stings. We all need to stop using it.

  10. He's one of the few rappers (that I'm aware of) to express support for equal marriage rights, but his reaction to Frank Ocean's "coming out" was an example of the ignorance and fear behind homophobia:
"It's acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don't know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine.
It's like a football team. You can't be in a locker room full of motherf***ing tough a** dudes, then all of a sudden say, 'Hey, man, I like you.' You know, that's going to be tough."

      Delete
    2. @jack ducky: exactly! It's usually fat rednecks not secure in their sexuality who think that gay men indiscriminately want to have sex with anyone owning a d*ck.

  11. I dated a black guy---well half black--and would get dirty looks by the old queens in the gay area of Toronto---truth be told I liked the fact that my relations were pissing losers off---BUT I dated him because he was hot and funny not because of his skin colour and the nonsense that would be involved

    1. He made a nasty or negative comment to Snoop. Snoop responded in ignorance.

Absolutely. But even if that were true (of course it isn't) why are they so threatened by the idea?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I feel like they're threatened because they're on the other side of things. They feel like they're going to be treated the way straight men treat women and straight men can't stand that. Idk. They're all insecure.

  14. @Brenda L, the guy posted that pic, not Snoop:

"The post in question was originally uploaded to Snoop Dogg’s Instagram account, and featured a photo of two men in bed together alongside a caption.

Snoop Dogg has no chill 😂 pic.twitter.com/TgoE8d8qVH
    — Tanner.(4LG) (@Tan_man01) September 15, 2014"

    Isn't he Snoop Lion now?

  15. oh yes and queue to Riven
"you called me a tranny for 10 years and dressed up like its pat and showed up at my door in the middle of the night! HOW DARE YOU COMMENT" lollllll

  16. Ive never had a real problem with straight guys ---I have many straight guy friends---but I live in Canada and one of the biggest cities in the world so I am sure that has much to do with it

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why would someone post a picture to someone else's Instagram account? I'm not clear on the rules for Instagram. I thought it was like FB.

Snoop Lion is right though in that being Black and Gay in the rap community is difficult. NOW to assume that all gay people want all straight people is just plain ignorant. The very fact that someone is straight is usually a deal breaker and not attractive.

As I told someone in the past who was threatened, "Oh honey, you aren't that cute."

    1. @Sherry, I don't use Instagram much (I do follow some friends on it, though). They put it the wrong way. You upload a photo and then tag someone. It shows up in their notifications. Snoop got ticked at the caption ("Snoop has no chill") and reposted the photo on his Instagram with the nasty comments.

  19. Chalk it up to young ignorance or whatever, but using the f word in a moment of rage does not make u a homophobe. Pretty sure Snoop is as liberal as the rest of them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. When I'm mad my first instinct isn't to use homophobic or racists slurs. The fact that a word like that comes so easily for some is proof enough for me that they probably use it more than when they're mad.

      Delete
    2. "Using the f word in a fit of rage" does, indeed, suggest homophobia-unless you're thinking of a different f word than I am. That's like saying that the n word, if said in a fit of rage, isn't racist.

      Delete
    3. Then u aren't a young male in an urban setting. Swearing is interspliced in everyday dialogue to the point that it loses its value. Everything is fuckin-something, blacks have no qualms calling their white friends "nigga" and when something is deemed lame it is labeled "gay". I don't like it either, but it's how it is. And u can't tell me that means entire generations are homophobic as a result. We're all products of our environment.

      Delete
    4. Oh geez. Fine, African-(insert appropriate nation here) call their CAUCASIAN friends... Better? Didn't know colors were derogatory as well

U must be a hoot at parties

      Delete
    5. I am actually :)

      Delete
    6. Only dumbasses call things "gay" when they mean lame. If a derogatory term is the first thing tocome out of your mouth in a fit of rage, chances are you've been using them quite often in your head.

  28. Snoop also readily admits to being a pimp and hitting his "girls" with a sneaker when they get out of line.

You'd think some people would have a problem with that , but he still gets booked on all the top tier shows.

  29. Directed to enty... I dont get why this behavior or response is surprising. If you are well versed on hip hop history and culture then the response would be understood even if it isnt supported. The basis for the lyrics are urban, extremely masculine, alpha male braggadocio. Throw an extra dose of urban culture in there and you have the antithesis of gay culture. Most of the songs in ole skool hip hop culture revolved around power, status , money and especially women. I liken metal to hip hop because it has some of the same key characteristics, its just a different genre of music. In this case example (snoop's outburst) life is dictating art. Snoop is old school.

  31. But hoes and sluts are not hateful words? I was on a blog the other day, and a woman put her opinion 3 men called her a c---. Nobody cared...she wasn't being rude..wasn't even that serious of a topic. But, if f----- or N-word was used everyone would call him out. Being mean and using degrading words is NEVER okay.

  32. @Plokzy---Demanduh and I both live in VERY URBAN settings thank you very much and maybe it is the norm for punk kids to say that shit where you are BUT I would never associate myself with trashy people whom talk like that! I agree that it is the norm but I am no old man, and as a teenager -which wasn't exactly lifetimes ago---I would tell losers who speak like that to fuck right off---Snoop is a 50 something year old man not 20.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't think using the term "blacks" is racist etc but it just comes across as something a crotchety old man would say---but not a big deal IMO (which I hate saying because obv its my opinion I just stated it)

  34. Most people are major hypocrites including prominent liberals (Alec Baldwin.) People who have a lot of power often have two sets of rules One for them and one for all the little people. Not surprise given the homophobia in hip hop in general

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't personally know any black people who refer to themselves as Afican-American. That is a pc term concocted by the media and used by fake people. Blacks fought long and hard to be known as black instead of negro or nigger. "Black Power", and "Black is Beautiful".
the move away from using black is an attempt to steal the power the word holds.
