Ross Harris was indicted yesterday for malice murder and seven other charges. This is the scumbag who let his 22 month old son die in a hot car while Harris was at work and sexting six different women. Harris says that he forgot his son was in the car even though the a-hole came out to the car at lunch. The indictments were for malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and counts of cruelty to children in the 1st degree; cruelty to children in the 2nd degree; criminal attempt to commit felony exploitation of children; and two counts of dissemination of harmful material to minors in connection with both the death, and sexually explicit images police said he sent to underage girls. If convicted of the murder he could face the death penalty. Do you remember at one point, before the investigation started that people were calling this an accident and that he should not be charged? Yeah, well no one feels like that any longer. The only positive thing that has come from Cooper's death and the attention that this case has received is that I see a lot more stories about people leaving their kids in cars and I see a lot more people doing something about it and calling someone and saving children who probably would have died otherwise.
I don't understand how a dad could kill their child. I also don't understand how someone can be so callous about death. The guy was sexting people while his son was dying. He was sending sexts to girls who were underage while his son was dying. Even after his son died, the guy showed no remorse. None. Georgia shouldn't show him any remorse either when he is sentenced. Yeah, I know there needs to be a trial, but I will wager he pleads guilty to avoid a death sentence or if it does go to trial that it takes a jury under an hour to come back with a guilty verdict and the only reason it will take that long is because they will probably have to all use the restroom before they vote.

He's mentally ill. But the prisoner justice system will take care of this POS.
ReplyDeleteBTW the guy whose child died here in Rockledge Fla. was also charged, I think with second degree murder, and put in jail and his was probably an accidental act of negligence. Unlike this guy whose wife should also be charged s an accomplice.
My comment gave my sympathy to the mother, Did she have something to do with it?
DeleteI just did some googling. They havebt pressed charges but the DA is still debating, so we don't know anything.
DeleteThis whole thing is so sad. They also bought a life insurance policy on the boy beforehand.
Effing disgraceful. Makes my heart bleed. There are so many people who would've been willing to foster/adopt (not here. You can be a crack whore and your kids remain with you) this beautiful little man.
DeleteNot to shade Entern, but this article on how a normal person might forget their kid in a car is worth a gander:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/magazine/fatal-distraction-forgetting-a-child-in-thebackseat-of-a-car-is-a-horrifying-mistake-is-it-a-crime/2014/06/16/8ae0fe3a-f580-11e3-a3a5-42be35962a52_story.html
I have driven to work forgetting to drop my child off to daycare before. But thank goodness I discovered the error.
DeleteI feel bad for the baby's mother.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were investigating the mother as well?
ReplyDeleteWhen you look online for how long it takes to die in a hot car, you need to be locked up.
ReplyDeleteI think the mother did research on what happens when a child is left in a hot car. This was before her kid was left in a hot car. I don't think this was an accident.
ReplyDeleteThis just proves that men are horrible at multi-tasking.
ReplyDeleteKidding!
I have no words except that little boy looks like a super cutie pie.
Pip - Wow. You think he was set up?

ReplyDeleteThe mother also said some things after the death that investigators thought were questionable and raised suspicions on her that she might have known what was going on.
ReplyDeleteBoth are guilty as heck.
ReplyDeleteUgh. What an asshat. As a father I can't imagine how this happened. #sextingisdangerous
ReplyDeleteI hope this bucket of fecal waste gets to feel terror and pain every day for many, many years.
ReplyDeleteI hope he spends every day in a hot cell terrified of when and where the next beating will come from.
He doesn't deserve to die. That's too easy. He should have to live every day with the blackness of his soul.
Or worse. Those little boy's last hours were brutal and terrifying.

DeleteNPR did a heartbreaking story about people leaving babies in cars. Regular people with regular jobs. All l mentally healthy. A common thread was that they had done something different from their normal routine, like being the one to do drop off at daycare when you normally aren't (that guy just drove straight into work and parked his car like he does everyday). Horribly sad.
ReplyDeleteI am not defending these people though! He sounds guilty as hell.
DeleteI think they were both in on it.
ReplyDeleteI actually found it hard to read this post. I can't stand it.
ReplyDeleteAlso Entern should stick to writing about tweeners and abstain from serious issues.

OK. I just read some articles about this case. Why in the world would both parents look up "dying in a hot car." This is completely fucked up.
ReplyDeleteI can't handle all of this death and destruction this week. Not only in the news; three people connected to the periphery of my real life have died as well.
I think I'm going to watch a marathon of Parks and Rec or something funny. I gots the sads!!
These sick pieces of shit- mother and father- cant suffer enough or die soonest for me. Lock him in a 100+ degree car, strapped into a carseat, shitting himself all day. That shld be his sentence. So many people want to adopt- just give your baby up! Ugh! What a world.
ReplyDeleteBoth parents should be in jail. They both looked up how long is took for a child to die in a hot car. Plus when the daycare called the mother or she called them and they said the child wasn't there her first words were "oh no he left him in the backseat" not panic or let me call my husband and find out where he is. That cold hearted witch was in on it.
ReplyDeleteHe's a psychopath! Rest in peace sweet baby boy.
ReplyDeleteThe man had just had breakfast at Chick Fil A with the boy minutes before work. He also proceeded to drive with the smell for minutes before pulling over after work.
ReplyDeleteBut the main thing that struck me first was how they had a 2 year old in a rear facing car seat!
Reno-not only was it rear-facing...they had a toddler car seat and the dad changed it out for the too-small rear-facing chair right before this happened. The theory is that he would have a better "I didn't see him" case if all he saw was the back of the car seat. This definitely seems to have been planned.
DeleteI did not know this. Now I am even madder if that was possible.
DeleteGOOD, there is no reason that beautiful baby had to die…
ReplyDeletei agree on the rear facing seat. it's much easier to kill your child when you don't have to look at his face. asshole.
ReplyDeletethe single fact that convinces me this was intentional is that he took him to breakfast, then drove less than 1/2 mile to work. this child was most likely awake and not silent. NO WAY he could have forgotten him in the space of a few minutes.
and i think the trip to his car at lunch was to see if he was dead yet.
This was no tragic accident. Rot in hell.
ReplyDeleteThis was no tragic accident. Rot in hell.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not defending this shithead, but almost forgot my son in the back of the car once. My son had been ill for three weeks,, so I fell out of the routine of dropping him off at nursery in the mornings, and he also had a habit of falling asleep within five minutes of being in a moving car, which he still does 11 years later. I arrived at work, and only remembered he was there because I always put my bag on the back seat, and I reached over to get it. Sometimes as a parent, you can be a bit forgetful. Not this twat though.
ReplyDeletethe title reads like the baby committed the crimes. at least for a nut like me.
ReplyDelete...kidding
horrible. that man is truly evil.
A genuine psychopath.
ReplyDeleteI am so torn on the "normal people have made this mistake too" argument. I am a mom to only one daughter (she's three now) and the first 18 months of her life, I worked full-time, her dad worked full-time and went to school 2/3 full-time, and never once. NOT ONCE. Has either of us forgotten about anything that had to do with our baby girl. I know that's anecdotal, and I know everyone is different, but I was so exhausted those first 18 months that the only way I remember Christmas is through pictures. Yes, I understand parenting is exhausting and everyone has so much on their plates these days, but my god. There is nothing in this world that I do where I DON'T think of my daughter beforehand. She is literally my world, my heart and life.
ReplyDeleteI thought it when this first happened, and it am thinking it again this morning reading the indictment: there are times when I wish we could play the vigilante justice card. Take 'em out back and do what you will and just make sure they're not alive at the end of it, because people like this bottom-feeding, piece of shit, useless waste of human space should not co-exist next to well-adjusted people who are actually decent people.
Even saying I hope he lives a long, hard life in prison doesn't feel right, because why should he get to stay alive and accept three squares a day from people who are horrified by his behavior? Don't even get me started on the "mother" - whew. Okay, time to calm down and go hug my kiddo. And more coffee. ALWAYS.
Enty, no more. Let's do the vapid celeb thing for the rest of the day, okay? No more of this stuff that makes me so angry!!
If they don't give him the death penalty, he'll be killed in jail by the other prisoners.
ReplyDelete@smadger badger - I posted after your comment, and if am in no way harping on those times when parents truly forget. But I bet you'd have remembered within an hour of sitting down at work!! (At least I hope!!)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, didn't want anyone to think I was attacking anyone in this thread, and your comment wasn't there when I originally started my comment, so it is in no way a response to yours!!
He's a full blown sociopath. Not sure about the wife.
ReplyDeleteDeath wouldn't be enought punishment for him. I hope he rots in hell
ReplyDeleteI've never had kids so it's hard for me to understand how you could forget your child in the car but I believe that to some people it does happen. HOWEVER: just the fact that this guy drove for a few miles with his dead child in the seat - you know the poor kid filled his diaper before he died and that decomposition had already started - the cops said the stench in the car was incredible - there's NO WAY he didn't notice the second he got in the car. This POS planned this and his wife knew. they should rot in hell.
ReplyDeleteThey need to save the tax payers time and money and skip the trial when a crime is this obvious! Give him the chair, fat POS!!!
ReplyDeleteThat poor little baby.
ReplyDeleteIn dark moments, I find myself wishing that procreation was a reward rather than a right.
I don't want Enty to post any more news stories unrelated to celebrity. Not only because CDaN is a site that readers come to for relaxation, but also because who is to say which news stories are uniquely worthy or of common interest?
ReplyDeleteFearN..That article was hard to read..Tragic, tragic...and very sad for this little boy..
ReplyDeleteI can't even read that. If they didn't want the baby, give him to someone who did! I would've taken him in a second, millions of people would! I hope those parents rot in hell and get to experience a living hell in prison. That poor, sweet baby.
ReplyDelete@Sandybrook, the other father who just did this truly DID forget his child was in car & when he remembered it was too late-he was inconsolable AND HE JUST COMMITTED SUICIDE YESTERDAY- I believed him & that's the difference between this P.O.S. & his wife's plot
ReplyDeleteIf a daycare provider or babysitter left a child in a hot car and the child died, they would be charged, and probably sued by the parents of the child. Why is it that when a parent does the same thing they get off because "they've suffered enough"? They still killed a baby. I just don't see how this is even legal.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, in this case it sounds like both parents were in on it and they both deserve to rot in jail. Poor little boy. He was adorable.
While I believe innocent people have forgotten their children in the car, I don't believe these two assholes are innocent.
ReplyDeleteWell, we all thought Casey Anthony would be convicted and look how that turned out.
ReplyDeleteEverybody should get a ResQMe from amazon.com and carry it on your keychain with your car keys.
It is a small device that enables you to break a side window (not the windshield) with only 6 pounds of pressure. It also has a recessed blade in it that you can use to cut through your seatbelt in one pass if you're trapped.
If I ever see a dog panting in a car, I can rescue it without waiting a critical 20 minutes for Animal Control to show up (if they even do).
You can get two for $17.95. Cmon folks, everyone should have one!
ResQMe tool at Amazon
Great suggestion Prunella I am gonna get one
DeleteI have to wonder how strong is the evidence against Ross Harris? I mean, it's possible that he DID google infant car deaths because he was concerned. I've done that in the case of dog car deaths precisely because I was concerned and wanted to have the facts in case I ever needed to confront a negligent dog owner.
ReplyDeleteThere isn't a lot of information out there about this case. I looked for it, didn't find much.
So, things I read (which may or may not be true):
There was a bad smell in the car the afternoon of his child's death. That would not be decomposition, that doesn't happen that quickly, I don't think. So it might be that his son soiled his pants.
Ross Harris allegedly went out to his car at lunchtime and put something in it. Would that smell have been there then?
If Ross Harris was supposed to drop off his son at daycare, was he also supposed to pick him up? If so, that would be the most damning point, in my mind, that he didn't drive to the daycare to pick him up, but instead drove someplace else.
I'm confused about why he pulled over suddenly and jumped out of the car - IIRC in a mall parking lot. What was it that caused him to do that? I mean, if nothing alarmed him when he got into the car after spending all day at work, why would he suddenly be alarmed on the drive home?
Does the daycare not contact the parents to ask why the child has not been dropped off?
As far as sexting women at work - pshaw. so what. that doesn't make him a child killer. He was unattractive and pudgy ... his friends said that he was always very active on-line. How many of US on this forum are socially awkward in real life but rock stars on CDAN?
Not suggesting any of YOU are but you know...
Mother should be charged as well. And for those saying if they didn't want the boy, give him up. The whole point of this vile act was because they wanted him ... as a means of cashing in. Without a dead kid, no money. And he has no remorse now, he will not learn it in prison. If he is harmed in prison, some innocent guard will have to get in trouble for letting it happen. Just kill the fat bastid and be done with him. Too much money and time and attention already wasted on this sociopath.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity I mapped his job and the Chick-Fil-A where they ate. It was across the street! You had to make some convoluted turns out of the parking lot, but if you stood at CFA's front door and looked out, you'd see Home Depot HQ.
ReplyDeleteThe dad would take him to breakfast every month or so as a special treat, time to be together. If his normal routine was stop at daycare, then go to work, I could kinda see that his brain might go into auto-pilot, thinking "we made our stop, now go to work" -- BUT, he didn't take the kid each day. And there's no way you'd forget you just had special-treat day in the time it takes to cross the road.
I almost wonder if it really was a huge fear of the mom's, which he saw as a perfect opportunity. It would look accidental, his wife would surely divorce him, and he'd be free.
