Rosie Perez And Nicolle Wallace Join The View

The Nicolle Wallace selection to replace Jenny McCarthy on The View is not a shocker because her name has been out there for quite some time. What is a shocker and something that I'm not sure will work is Rosie Perez replacing Sherri Shepherd. I think the world is used to seeing Rosie in very controlled scripted environments in movies and television and hasn't appeared regularly in anything on television since Lipstick Jungle five years ago. She is definitely outspoken which is great, but so is Rosie O'Donnell and so is Whoopi Goldberg. Those three all trying to talk at once is going to drown out Nicole Wallace and the person selected to replace Barbara Walters' spot at the table. Rosie has never really done live television and has a tendency to say the first thing that pops into her head. Again, that could make for good television or it could make for a lot of apologies. Even Rosie was shocked to be asked because in her statement she said she was surprised.

  1. Good luck trying to listen to Rosie Perez an hour a day, 5 days a week :(

    1. I agree as well. Had I been debating whether to watch the view, that voice ((shudder)) would have made up my mind for me!

    1. @sandy, let's not underestimate Rosie. She won Jeopardy!, after all.

    2. Rosie was on Nurse Jackie, Enty. And was brilliant.

  5. I give Perez one season because her voice is UBER annoying and she's got a hot temper. Goldberg wants out, so they got to replace her too. I was hoping Sunny Hostin would get a spot. Heck, who's next? Fran Drescher?

  8. Man, imagine the mix-up of the Rosies! "Rosie, I'm talking" "No Rosie, I'm talking."

  9. I bet we will have a situation similar to leah remini and the talk

  10. They should get Angela Bassett to replace whoopi when she leaves. I could listen to that woman talk for days about anything.

  11. This show has just become a sideshow of village idiots.

  12. @Jessica...just become? I thought it turned into that several years ago.

  13. No one with a nasal voice should be allowed to work in front of the camera. Or on radio, obviously. Or in music. Or in public.

  14. Hold in folks. Rosie may have been working in her diction because she was on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me and it was a little hard to tell it was her. She sounded more like she had a little bit of a speech impediment rather than that kooky accent. She's very smart btw. I think she's the dark horse this season.

    1. *on* in both instances. Why do they put those two so close on this small keyboard?

  15. Any show with Rosie O'Donnell in it is unwatchable by default. How long before she attempts to bully the rest of the cast Too bad for her that Whoopie and Rosie do not play that shit, Both of those women are from the mean streets and they will give every bit as much as they get.

  16. I was really surprised to see this. I watched the View for years, but getting rid of Joy ruined the show. She was fast and funny and her absence made a big difference. Sherri could be funny at least. I've only seen Perez interviewed on Wendy & Andy Cohen and it was not entertaining that I could see. I watch Morning Joe all the time and Wallace is annoying albeit she does have a brain. I think it's going to be the death knell for the show, but hope I'm pleasantly surprised. Whoopi is annoyed to be there so they needed comedy which is why Joy and Sherri, not bright as she is, could be good. Rosie O is funny, but, well, we'll see.

  17. Wendy Williams has been suggesting Rosie Perez as a replacement on the View for a while. I haven't watched the View in years, Elizabeth Hasselbeck turned me off completely.

I will say that Rosie's accent is like Sophia Vergara in that they exaggerate it for the public, I've seen interviews with both ladies where their accents were not as prominent.

  18. You're right Greengrl...my first thought was that Wendy Williams will be thrilled. I have seen her on Wendy's show a couple of times and I think she's calmed down. No one is going to look good with Rosie O. calling the shots. I used to like her, but her ego has turned her into a maniac.

  19. What is amazing is that these four dumbshits are so desperate to stay (or get ) in the public view they don't realize the producers are just looking for the most combustible foursome so they will end up all looking like idiots, a popular formula for reality shows but not for talk shows where the general goal is for the hosts to compliment each other. The show has become a shitfest and it looks like the producers have decided that is the way to go. If it stays on the air look for more kooky headline grabbing combinations in the future as host periodically blow up and leave. It might just work- this show is a joke.

  20. With Rosie Perez on board I imagine the show will sound like
    this (language NSFW) every day.

  21. Michael, ITA about Rosie O'Donnell. It astounds me that she has fans as she has absolutely NO redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Do people actually watch The View? It seems like it should be on a continuous loop in Hell, for maximum torment.

  22. @Sandy: I can't wait to play WTF is Rosie Perez Saying 5 days a week. I would imagine the Close Captions will be hilarious.

  23. Also, I guess they decided they don't need a token hottie anymore. Sad.

  24. I love Rosie Perez and I think her voice and accent are cute and funny.

That being said, I still won't watch.

  25. So it's going to be Whoopi vs. O'Donnell and both vs. Wallace. It's going to be a mess and a failure.

But then again, they brought in Rachel Maddow's producer and he couldn't either beat O'Reilly, Hannity or Megyn Kelly. And ABC expects to beat Drew Carey?

  26. Rob Horne - you are right- whoopi vs odonnell vs wallace with perez yapping around like a puerto rican chihuahua.
