Well, I'm British, so I'll start with the weather, shall I? It's nice and mild right now, with lovely warm evenings, so lots of people have been sitting outside the pubs and cafés and filling up the parks. There's lots of music and street performers. Those inside are watching football and cricket. The English women's cricket team are finally getting some public support.
As far as conversation is concerned, we mostly complain about this disgraceful government of ours. The English are just starting to take an interest in the upcoming Scottish referendum. Everyone that I've spoken to about it hopes the Scots vote 'No'.
There was a hoax bomb scare on twitter, warning people not to use the tube train.
A stupid (are there any other kind?) sixteen-year-old boy jumped into the Thames river on a dare from his mates. He *literally* jumped off a bridge because his friends told him to. In sharp contrast, a fourteen-year-old London boy just won the World Youth Scrabble Championship. The first British winner.

ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance, it's the greatest city in the world (I may be ever so slightly biased), but I feel it only fair to warn you that London is disgracefully expensive. It's impossible to exaggerate just how bad it is. So bear that in mind!
