Nicole Kidman's Father Dies After A Fall In His Hotel Room

Nicole Kidman's father died today in Singapore after suffering a fall in his hotel room after breakfast. Dr. Anthony Kidman was in Singapore to visit Nicole's sister Antonia who lives in Singapore with her husband and their six children. No other details are being provided at the time, but it must have been one heck of a fall. Maybe he suffered a stroke or heart attack and then hit his head on a table. There are not many people who just fall down in a hotel room and die from their injuries.

Other reports have said he died during a road side accident. To me those are two very different possibilities.

According to a statement from Nicole's long time publicist, the family is devastated. There are some interesting things probably to come from figuring out how he died, but I am wondering if Nicole's kids from her first marriage to Tom Cruise will attend the funeral. He was after all, their grandfather. Will Tom Cruise call or attend? He was his father-in-law for a very long time.

  1. Stop with speculating on things. Plenty of people die from falling, especially elderly people.

  3. Very tragic. She was extremely close to him..a close family in general, which I relate to...and this is quite sad.
    Seemed a classy, kind man

  5. Losing a parent is horrible. I feel for the family.

Plenty of elderly people fall down and die from their injuries. My mom was only 51 when she fell and punctured a lung from a broken rib. If she wasn't found in time, things could've been much worse. Terrible shit happens daily.

  8. news.com.au: "It is believed Dr Antony Kidman, was at his daughter Antonia’s house in Singapore when he fell and later passed away."
    The google, it delivers.

  10. I agree Sandy---leave him alone---he never asked to be in any sort of spotlight.

  11. So sorry, it's so hard loosing a parent…

  12. That's heartbreaking. My grandfather fell and hit his head while home alone. That was over 40 years ago and it still haunts my father that his dad may have been alive for a while unable to get help.

  13. All sympathies to family. Losing a loved one is brutal.
And enty, i dont know what world you are in, but people falling as cause of death is not unheard of. Didnt a famous dr die loke ten years ago when he fell in street? My father's hospital roommate was pretty much a vegetable from a fall. I believe william holden died from fall in hotel room. So dont act like its weird or suspicious, it isnt. And dont be all snarkular

  14. @auntliddy, that was Dr. Atkins. Perfectly healthy, but slipped on ice on the street and died from it.

  15. That's so sad. I know the family was very close. Losing a parent is a huge life event. And it seems as though he was relatively young. And to have it happen so suddenly - you don't get a chance to wrap your head around it or say goodbye.

I didn't know her sister has six children and lives in Singapore!

  16. And this says he collapsed in the hotel restaurant shortly after completing his morning exercise. Sounds like a heart attack.

    He was 81 - didn't look it!

  17. I had an Australian friend, a psychiatrist, who had worked with him. Said he was a very nice man. Sad.

  18. How sad. It's never easy losing a parent. As you age falling is a serious risk. Hitting your head or breaking your hip can result in a steep decline in health.

  19. My mother is in her mid-60s and fell getting out of her chair the other day, managed to bang her head on the edge of the closet in the process. It's not shocking or salacious when someone is injured in a fall. It's part of life and part of aging. How old was Natasha Richardson? Minor fall they thought at first.

My condolences to the whole family. It's sad, no matter how or at what age.

  20. Very sad, and she DOES look like him, especially the eyes and smile.

Perhaps ironic to chastise given where we are, but your last paragraph is in very poor taste, Enty.

  21. She certainly does favor her father. I'll bet their family is devastated. Very difficult losing a parent by natural causes or suddenly in an accident.

My sister told me just the other day about my mother falling and hitting her head, cracking the orbital bone, breaking her nose in 2 places and laying on the floor, losing a pint of blood for 4-5 hours until my sister came home from work. Yes, alcohol was involved. She's lucky to be alive and that she has my sister who helps her.

  22. He was a psychiatrist so I doubt any CO$ members will express remorse. Certainly not Tom and perhaps not his grandchildren.

  23. Sorry for her loss.

  24. Sounds to me like too many different stories coming out of Singapore to know what happened for sure yet.

And yes it is very possible to die from a fall particularly in your 80s when the bones are not what they once were.

Tough to lose anyone but especially tough to lose someone unexpectedly for whatever the reason. Condolences to the Kidmans.

  25. I am totally beyond even caring what Tom Cruise or his kids might do.

  26. Tragedy that results in death in any way, is terribly sad. Even though he was 81, you hope he could have lived to be 101.

So sorry for their family who loved him.

  28. Condolences to the Kidmans.

And Another 3 or 4 women died today of physical abuse by their partner.

And another several dozen children from starvation, gang/drug violence or preventable diseases.

And another 10 stripper-escort-con-artist 20;something pieces of shit humans - just squealed with joy as they hit the big "nail a celeb for 18 yrs of payday" jackpot when their pregnancy test came back positive.

  29. Dr. Kidman was a tireless crusader for mental health funding. I owe him a personal debt for being one of the early champions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. R.I.P. dear man. My heart goes out to his family.

  30. It's one thing to wildly speculate about celebs with a history of fuckery but come on Enty, he's a highly respected professional that just happens to be a celebs father. He's never been mentioned before, let's wait to hammer him until tomorrow.

  31. Terrible. She seems family oriented so sorry for her loss.

  32. Bad for Nicole and family members to not get to say goodbye. Good it wasn't a drawn out painful death THAT MANY adult children get to endure when it comes to elderly parents.

  33. my next door neighbor died a few years ago in the middle of the night he was cold went to get a blanket from a closet tripped on the blanket walking back fell, broke his neck and died instantly.

Horrible way for his wife to find him in the morning, but yes you can die from a fall quite easily.

Sad for Nicole she seemed very close to her family big loss for them.
