Joan Rivers' Doctor Took A Selfie While She Was Unconscious

As more information starts coming to light surrounding the death of Joan Rivers, it sounds like Melissa Rivers is going to be paid millions for what was the unnecessary death of her mother. I don't know what was going on at the clinic where Joan had her throat surgery but it sounds like it was more like a frat party than a surgical procedure. The head of the clinic has already been let go from his position. Now, CNN is reporting that after the doctor at the clinic finished his procedure, Joan's doctor stepped in and before starting the biopsy which led to Joan's death took a selfie with her while she was still under. Who does that? He was probably trying to upload it to Instagram or something while performing the biopsy. Does this kind of thing happen a lot during surgeries? It scares the hell out of me that people don't take surgery seriously.

    I would not wish my doctor to be doing anything other than what he is there to do and would blow a gasket if I found he/she was doing selfies during a procedure.

    I would think it would be more common in situations such as hers, I.e. Elective surgeries on a high-risk patient. Mostly because the doctors who are responsible and cautious would say "no, thank you, I would prefer not to anesthetize an elderly patient for something they don't NEED". So you get unscrupulous do toes who are big risk takers, and with that, somewhat irresponsible and it manifests in taking selfies of patients in surgery

    Why are surgeons allowed to have their cell phones in the operating room?!!! Not only is unethical but unsanitary as well. Do you know how many germs and insane amount of bacteria is on your cell-smart phone?!

    seriously wtf??!!!! Does anyone out there do their fucking job any more with decent moral ethics?! They keep shielding this asshole ... They need to reveal the murderers name!!!

    doctors can be such pigs. i was taking care of a labor patient and called her doctor to come deliver the baby. he was playing golf, and he brought his golf buddy with him---another doctor, but not on staff and not even an OB/GYN---and this guy was in the room and acted like he was part of the 'team' or something.

    the patient didn't know any better but i did and i told her physician i thought it was inappropriate to bring his pal into the room. he said it was no big deal. people really need to understand what entitled pricks doctors can be.

    Dr. Selfie shouldn't have even been there. Joan Rivers didn't sign off on a biopsy and he didn't have professional privileges at the clinic, even if he was a licensed doctor. If he was part of her entourage as is claimed, the staff might have been too star struck to tell him no. Any lawsuit that Melissa files would be totally justified.

    Wendy Williams just said that maybe bc Joan's personal doctor was right there, and Joan had such a strong sense of humor that he did it to show her after and make her laugh. I don't think her personal doctor would have let anyone abuse her.

      You are correct. Charlie Theron's adoption judge went online at an LSU sports chat dealy to spout off on the particulars of her adopting her baby! But the judicial review board fired his ass off the bench but as far as I know did not yank his license to practice law. He should've been disbarred, as should this doc (if selfie story true).

    Poor Joan. Sounds like, given that the ENT came with her to the procedure, etc, they were friendly and what might've been funny if all turned out ok is ghoulish and horrific now that we know the end of this movie. The gravity of the fact that ANY procedure on an elderly woman clearly was missed by likely Joan herself and certainly the professionals in whose hands she put her life. She'd have likely lived another 10-15 years if not for this. I feel so bad for Melissa and Cooper.

    Here's why I'm sick of this: She was an 80 something year old woman having a vanity/elective procedure. Something goes wrong and she stops breathing, something that is possible for anyone having a procedure done especially someone her age. So, since she's a celebrity, her family will get millions of dollars once the "social justice" warriors in America get done harassing the courts.

    Meanwhile, if anyone remembers when I lost my Mom back in 2012 well, the reason was because her shitfuck cunt of a doctor, who obviously got her medical license from the back of a Fruity Pebbles box READ HER FUCKING TEST RESULTS WRONG FOUR MONTHS IN A ROW. The results showed that her liver was shutting down but the doctor read them as normal levels because her lab had begun posting the numbers differently.

    Guess what every lawyer told us? Basically, they said "shit happens, sorry."

    Had my Mom been a celebrity there'd be no end to the lawyers wanting to take the case and no court in the land not waiting to give us a multi-million dollar payday for the doctors negligence. (Had she read them right anytime in those four months, a partial transplant from just a piece of my liver would've saved her life, but as it is, we still owe the doctor money for doing nothing and my Dad is a widower at 59 and my nieces don't have their Grandma. But as long as the Rivers family gets a bit more money in the coffers, I guess all is right with the world.)

    @Rowdy, your situation is HORRIBLE and you need to find a lawyer who will take your case because that kind of shit that "just happens" is called MALPRACTISE.

    BUT ... to get pissed off at Joan Rivers' daughter over this is not fair.

    First, she wasn't having an elective procedure, she was in there for an endoscopy or something like that.

    Second, if the doctor fucked up, the doctor fucked up.

    Does her case get extra scrutiny because she's famous. Yes. Does her daughter need more money? Probably not.

    But the thing for you is, you have a case. Just go find a lawyer who agrees and then sue the basterds.

A Dr killed my husbands nephew he was 31. Dr cut wrong side of rib and lied said he did not take enough, went back in and cut thru his aorta, he bled out in minutes. Dr came out and said his heart could not take anesthesia.A friend who knew better called Dr.Baden to do autopsy and to not let hospital touch him, a nurse also came forward. The Dr who was head of surgery had Alzheimer.Our nephew was the 3rd one he killed.His mom sued got millions ,Dr wound up broke and in a home. The hospital knew and covered for him.Redbank NJ.Riverview hospital. They signed a clause so it would not become public. This happens everyday in hospitals.
