Future Of Fashion Police Up In The Air
Giuliana Rancic gave an interview to ABC News and told them she is uncertain of whether Fashion Police will continue without Joan Rivers. " They are looking at different scenarios," Rancic said. "A lot of that will be up to [Melissa] and how she's feeling and how she decides what she wants to do, along with the execs here at E! There is no word now -- they are seeing what Fashion Police looks like without Joan.A part of me is like Joan would want Melissa and us and the team to go on and I know she would, but it's just a matter of can there be a show without Joan? Do we want to do a 'Fashion Police' without Joan? I don't know."
Considering they are having a special tonight paying tribute to Joan I think the show will continue. It is one of E!'s biggest shows and awards season is coming up in the next few months. At the very minimum they are going to want to do some kind of recap after each event and if they are willing to do that, I think they might as well continue the show. It will be different without Joan, but I just can't see Melissa walking away from it, and ultimately at least as far as Fashion Police goes, it really is her decision.

they should throw clinton kelly (the chew) in there as the host. he is no JRivers (but then who is, really?) but he has a eye for style and can be quite funny and personable. and i sense a wee bit of bitchiness in him which works with something like this.
ReplyDeleteGood suggestion!
DeleteThe only reason to watch Fashion Police was joan. Who honestly cares what the other three have to say about anything let alone fashion?
ReplyDeleteThe way E! is they will probably try to replace Joan with Kris Jenner. :(
ReplyDeleteThis show is over. Rivers was the only entertaining one on it.
ReplyDeleteGet Kathy Griffin! I doubt she'd do it though.
ReplyDeletePlease no Kimora. I think the closest is Kathy Griffin.
ReplyDelete+1 Nellie
DeleteNo to the Kimora. She's Ambien in heels.
Jenny McStupid is out of job. She might be interested and thinks she's a comedian.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone who says Joan was the reason for watching. George Kotsiopoulos is fun. Rancid & Kelly O are not.
ReplyDeleteI could stomach Rancid before the inappropriately exaggerated condescension of Kelly O, though.
Now that I think of it, Kelly O and the inappropriately successful Kendull should be besties. All parentage luck, no intrinsic value.
If the show continues, it should be completely redesigned, not Joan Rangers II.
+1
DeleteJoan was the reason to see Fashion Police. They need someone as entertaining, fearless and "flamboyant"as Joan.Joan Collins? If she's interested
ReplyDelete@sandy--nooooooooooooooo! (and you know right now Seacrest is undoubtedly trying to make this happen).
ReplyDeleteWhos gonna hire Kelly O for anything else. Dont know how she even got that job
ReplyDeleteKathy Griffin might be possible but would she want the inevitable comparisons?
ReplyDeleteI love Kathy G.!
ReplyDeleteOh, lets face it, Joan was the whole show. A show about fashion on red carpet can be done, but it wont be Fashion Police. Even I kbow that, never having watched it!
ReplyDeleteJoan is the Fashion Police, they gave her a show, because she was already doing this at Red Carpet Events, no one cares about the others or watched for them.
ReplyDeleteJoan WAS the show but the show must go on---what about Rachel Zoe as a replacement? Writers wrote most of the jokes regardless and she has the bitchy thing going on---
ReplyDeleteRachel Zoe isnt likable like joan though. Joan was bitchy but she's been around forever and people loved her.
DeleteI love RZ, but she wouldn't bring the snark like Joan.
DeleteKathy could do it or what about a guy? Isaac Mizrahi is good bitchy.
I absolutely hate Kathy! I wish we could give her to God and have Joan back. I don't like political comedy, except Lewis Black. For someone that looks like the guy from movie Mask (with cher) has no room to disrespect others looks. Does anyone remember Ross The Intern? Now he's a hoot! Love ...love...love him. Plus he's got room to make fun.
DeleteI like Kathy G, but her thing isn't fashion or red carpet events, that was Joan. I don't think she would be interested in doing a Fashion show, not to mention replacing Joan.
ReplyDeleteRachel Zoe doesn't have any energy or charisma. I watched her reality show, she is dull as a brick wall & about as smart.
ReplyDeleteRachel Zoe? She has the charisma of flan.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they need to repackage the whole concept - different name, different host, different vibe, but still dealing with covering the fashion at red carpet events. But even that is going to be tough. Bring in Jeannie Becker ha ha or more like that Fashion TV type of vibe with enough gossip thrown in.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for a bitch, Nicole Ritchie could do it well!
ReplyDeleteI think if the show goes on, they need a total unknown to fill the spot. Someone from another country with an accent and sayings different than ours but FABULOUS. Any American who tries to fill that seat will be ridiculed beyond belief. They'll have to be as good as Jackie Robinson.
ReplyDeletewhat about Elizabeth Hurley?
ReplyDelete-she can be witty & snarky w/the best of them & is a fashionista w/influential friends
The only other comedian who comes to mind who covered the red carpet beat is Kathy Griffin. She's more gossipy/outrageous and not so much with the one-liners. If they reformat the show to accommodate her strengths it could work, although it may basically be a new show. A "refreshed" format would also not continually remind us of Joan and invite comparison. Because there is no comparison.
ReplyDeleteIt might sound crazy, but I could also see RuPaul here.
actually, she'd be too much of a threat to Guliana & Kelly but George & Melissa would love her.
ReplyDelete& make it a different show & get rid of Guliana & Kelly
-Bring on Nicole R.w/Liz & A.J Johnson
& Rita Rudner....
ReplyDelete@rolo and @frost--
ReplyDeleteI could see RuPaul and La Hurley, great suggestions!
@FrenchGitl, I thought Joan Collins as well but do t think she'd take the gig.
What they need is someone fashion AND funny.
@Derek, I agree Joan had a team of writers but don't think for one second she didn't contribute and vet every single joke that came out of her mouth. It was all Joan; they were writing for HER voice.
@ Tina, I agree. I think that is the only way it would make it.. A complete reboot.
ReplyDeleteFashin Police gonna get canceled and they gonna come up w/ a new name, because w/o Joan, they don't need to pay Melissa as a producer.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same type of thing why CBS is dumping Ferguson when Letterman is out.
I barely watched the show, but if I did it was to hear what bitchy thing Joan Rivers would say. Her bouts with Gillian Anderson were classic. RIP Joan & just end this show and start a new one.
ReplyDeleteShut the fucking show down. It's a piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there just a blind about someone pissing people off because she was pushing too hard to replace someone and the popular guess was Kathy Griffin for Joan's spot.
ReplyDeleteMelissa announced at the end of the tribute that FP will be back in January.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the idea of Clinton Kelly. I like the idea of him and Stacey as co hosts.
Just get rid of Kelly she brings NOTHING to the table
ReplyDeleteThere is no Joan. I've always thought Kathy, but she's actually stiff on TV in talk show format plus she's not stylish. I like her a lot and her humor is all based on goofing on celebs. But have my doubts. Mario Cantone maybe.
ReplyDelete@Missyrocks53
ReplyDeleteNO Cantone PUHLEESE! too frantic!
