American Apparel posted the photo above, minus the censorship squares to their Instagram and called this a back to school mini skirt. Good advertising or just porn?
I side-eye any woman who shops there. This company has been exploiting and sexualizing young women for years, it's not new or a secret. Their ads are banned in my hometown because of it.
Plus their clothes are so basic and way overpriced.
You can buy better quality at Target or Old Navy at cheaper prices.
Haven't shopped there in years due to them using Uncle Terry & not to mention Dov still works for them even though he's been sued too many times to count for sexual harrassement.
Ah the endless debate, buy cheap, child labor exploited clothes from overseas or buy clothes made in the USA that exploit young teens here. Is there a correct answer?
How is this any different than every other ad or picture out there? EVERYTHING is oversexualized nowadays and it's gross. It's only going to get worse, soon you'll look back on this as tame and boring.
I went poking through American Apparel's Twitter feed to see the uncensored version. It's either been deleted, or it's a fake, 'cuz it isn't there. I'm betting fake.
BTW, in the uncensored version, the models are wearing panties.
T e hit it gross and creepy. Stop objectifying for women for christs sweet sake. Just stop! You know this was done by and for men. Ugh. Need brain bleach.
AA is doing it for free publicity. The sad thing is, girls will buy these skirts. The way they're dressing, the clothes are getting skimpier and skimpier. Girls this summer, are wearing short shorts with their but cheeks hanging out. I thought it was a joke, and my friend told me that was the style.
Eventually, it will be normal to walk around naked. Then what?
@Crila I walked past a girl who had to be around 13 wearing those granny panty-like bottoms over tights and a crop top. She was with her mom too. W. T. F.
sex sells.
ReplyDeletein all seriousness, its gross and creepy.
It would have been even better if it were a dude in the skirt.

ReplyDeleteHOT! Where is the uncensored pic!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's disgusting but for American Apparel it's pretty standard.
ReplyDeleteI thought that's the way you wear one of those skirts. Isn't that what they're for??

ReplyDeleteConsidering American Apparel hires porn stars to model their clothes, I think that shows the message they are sending.
ReplyDeleteHere's the uncensored version:

DeleteWhen is the fashion industry going to realize Dov Charney is a POS pedophile????
ReplyDeleteIs the owner a pedophile? As a Mother of three girls, not cool.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly creepy.
ReplyDeleteThat American Apparel store is so over-priced and just complete junk. Is it actually made in America?
Same class as always ...
ReplyDeleteI am really not a fan of American Apparel in any way

ReplyDeleteThanks Topper. I'm unimpressed w/ the pic, though. Would have liked to see some buttcheek.

ReplyDeleteIt's a typical porn fantasy in the guise of an ad. That is all.
