I have an issue with water wasting too. I don't even like it when a faucet drips on occasion. If I am challenged I am going to donate to ALS and Clean Water charities.
Isn't it like saying I'd rather dump an ice cold bucket of water on my head while laughing into a camera than donate money or actually leave my house to do something that actually helps ALS research?
Imagine the possibilities if every person who did the bucket challenge donated $5 to research instead! And try not to remind us how much the fake scientists on the Big Bang Theory just signed for. Oh my, I really need to stop with all of this sense-making and go repeatedly fill up my tub just for funsies!
@Veronica I too am happy that at least this has raised awareness & money for such an important cause. I don't have ALS but as a sufferer of a chronic dieseas ( crohns ) myself, I think it is VERY important that it's done both. I just wish people would forgo the waste of water & materials and do the good deed of donation instead.
I'm going off topic here lads, but I must draw your attention to possibly the greatest pageant on the telly ever: The Rose of Tralee!! So cringy, its like the real life version of the Lovely Girls contest from Father Ted! Follow it on Twitter, it's amazing.
@Wee S: I attended more than a few of the Rose of Tralee pageants when I lived at home with my parents. I thought it was more like holiday festivities than a pageant, like Toddlers and Tiaras.
I've already made my mind up about who I don't want to win (Scottish Rose). Its just pure cheese. I love that the main hashtag for it is #rot. I'm so childish sometimes.
My company's CEO just did the challenge this morning, and challenged every employee to do it tomorrow. How can I get out of it without looking like a non/team player?
I yjink everyone can calm down about wasting water. Jeesh! Our hoarding a couple of gallons of water isnt going to help anyone who doesnt have fresh water. People are starving; do we not eat in support?! Anyhoo, all my grandchildren did it except fir three yr old, and gave$10 of their money to als. One of the stinkers nominated me and mr, and i said we wld donate, no ice on my head! Lol Anyway, its just a fun way of giving and bringing attention to als. Which is what als wanted.
Yes, except we aren't talking about some far off distant land; the state in which most of these celebs lives is in a serious drought. At this point, it just seems to be encouraging their fans to waste water. Yes, I am a Debbie Downer but I also am only allowed to water my lawn twice a week, so....
Yeah the only reason I can comprehend the California drout is because I was there when I was five years old and in a restaurant there was a sign saying they wouldn't keep our water glasses filled unless we asked because of the drout. Weirdest thing I ever saw!
Pur, point taken. I lived in ny on long island, and for years and years and years we cld water odd or even days, according to address number, and only certain times. It got to be such a habit i did even when restriction lifted, lol. And i remember when they stopped serving water at resturants to conserve

DeleteTaylor Swift and her crew each donated $100 + did the challenge. Not everyone is an attention seeking charity dodger.
DeleteBills Gates did it. Instead he should have filmed himself writing a big fat check to ALS, then challenged his rich friends to do the same.

ReplyDelete@sea I googled it the other day and found this The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice.
