    1. She said she had an eating disorder. Think it stemmed from not being fed well as a child due to ww2

  4. I remember reading a book about her, years ago, that stated she was probably border line ana. It just always seemed to me from that book though that she didn't really eat when stressed.

  5. Nerves, she had a funny relationship with food growing up during the war years when there was so little to go around…she ate very small meals often…

Did you see the photo's of her grand daughter…beautiful

    1. I agree with this, my grandmother is in her 90s and she has always eaten very little. I've been helping her out around her house for a week and I can't think of a single full meal she's eaten, except for brunch this weekend. Otherwise she just eats spinach salad and either mango or yam. She's not anorexic by any means, just grew up before the days of 60oz sodas and 1/2 pound burgers.

TL;DR This doesn't necessarily equate to an eating disorder

  6. I could be wrong, but I think it has been established that Audrey's relationship with food was shaped by her experiences growing up in war torn Europe and that never ate much because of the trauma, not due to some unhealthy desire to be thin.

    1. Add that to nerves being at that event, I don't find it surprising or scandalous.

  7. Ana & Mia are not just due to desires to be thin.

  11. I stated the book stated she was borderline ana.

But, that it seemed to me that she just didn't eat when stressed.

And, yes ana & mia has many causes not just vanity.

  12. I saw some of her dresses in a museum. They were teeny weeny. I've never seen clothes for a woman that were so small in my life.
She must have been so frail.

  14. Did you know she was a fantastic cook ?

  15. She also hated the pastries that she eats at the beginning of Breakfast at Tiffany's. I read that she generally ate ate a plain baked potato and some fruit.

  16. Audrey Hepburn almost starved to death while growing up in Holland during the war. She and her mother, along with everyone else, had to eat grass, flower bubs and raw potatoes to survive. She wasn't skinny because she was obsessed with her weight, her stomach was messed up and she had trouble absorbing food. I think this BI is unfair. She was not like these silly actresses these days. She had a REASON for being underweight.

  17. Show some respect, Mr. X.

Ya, Audrey's a tragic figure. So bright on the outside, so much turmoil inside. Growing up under Nazi occupation, vicious ballet training, and abusive men in her early early adulthood took their toll. A truly beautiful soul tho, one of the few "good ones" who have been in show-biz.

  19. I don't know why people find it so hard to believe that she had an eating disorder. A woman with well-known food issues who had a very stressful childhood and was--hellooo--a ballet dancer and an actress who had to deal with abusive men in Old Hollywood when women were all treated like sexual trading cards.
