    1. Christina's hair looks a little frizzy, thin and unhealthy. I do love her. She's been known to use hair pieces for the most part.

  5. That one time I de-feathered a chicken wasn't nearly as scary as Lena's outfit.

Kate Walsh's dress is lovely, but it washes her out.

Christina Hendricks wins with the red and gold.

  6. Lena you need to wear outfits that dont accentuate the fact you are a f'n cow and disgusting. I wouldnt aspire to be the female version of Jonh Hill if I was female. You aren't doing yourself any favors, people dislike you intensely s it is already. (sowwy Derek but she's gross)

    1. Naughty Sandy! I agree the frock is pretty "special" but she's not a moo!!

  7. Besides just being a fug dress, Dunham holds herself in a very self-conscious way on the carpet. If you are going steal Barbie's cake topper look, you got to have Barbie's attitude.

    1. Henriette: my mum used to make me barbie dolly varden cakes! I should put an order in for my birthday next year....

  8. She looks like a furry dressed as a Walton.

  9. Lena does not have a bad body. She always chooses dresses that make her look five times larger than she actually is. It's like she tries to look dumpy at every awards show, that's her only goal.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Does she purposefully try to dress as badly as possible at award shows to make some kind of feminist/hipster statement? It sounds like I'm being snarky but I'm actually serious. Every award show she dresses even worse than the last one. Or is she just that clueless about how to dress her body and refuses to get a stylist?

      Delete
    2. I think it's both, and I will NEVER understand it. If she doesn't try to improve her image, I predict that in ten years -- maybe sooner -- she'll be a total "remember her?!"

      Delete
    3. Part of me thinks it's a preemptive strike of sorts. She's a big girl and I think she feels like people are going to snark on her, no matter what, so she goes in the complete opposite direction and tries to look worse. That way, it's an "I meant to do that" kind of response. The sad thing is that there are lots of bigger girls who, with the right stylist (and a little taste), can look stunning.

      Delete
    4. There are ways to dress to flatter your shape. She needs to stop shopping at modcloth and hire a stylist.

      Delete
  10. Good god, Sandy. She is a cow? That is what you consider huge and disgusting? She has the body of most everyday women. Get the fuck over yourself and your piggish comments.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Pip "Most everyday women"? Are you high? She's way overweight, I'm sorry, and in fact very cowish.

      Delete
    2. Sjg: I agree with Pip. Have you not read the research re median weight of most westerners? She would be considered average. Problem is in our society there's an ever growing chasm between the malnourished and the obese. The people in the middle are Lena's size. I like her bravado and hate body shaming in any form.

      Delete
    3. She is at least 50 lbs overweight, which makes her 30 lbs above the "average women" (and men for that matter) you refer to.

Body shaming, what a joke, just an excuse to be a pig. Eat less, eat better, get a little exercise.

  11. I thought teh VMA pics were bad.
I'm not even going to address Dunham.I've never liked her and I wish she'd get the hell over trying to be cutting-edge cutesy. Barf.
Mostly meh, except for Kate Walsh - what was she thinking? - and Christina Hendricks - OK, I get that you want to be thought of as a caricature. What *else* can you do?
My fave out of this set is Marguiles.

  13. Yeah, this is lenas schitck i think. Not down with the fussy. When i see hendricks, i cld cry. Who the hell dresses her? That dress looks like the birds and mice of cinderella made it!! Drives me nuts: shes so awesome but doesnt dress to flatter!!

  14. And walsh's dress is so weird but it totally works! See, thats why u hv to try things on!

  15. I think this is the best I've seen of Christina Hendricks, she's so lovely here...that hair and that lush body.

  16. Lena's punking herself at this point. Kate Walash always annoys me and I've never seen her act. Beyonce looks hot!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Just my opinion and my constitutional right to express it. Melissa McCarthy is bigger than her and Ive never said one bad thing about her, and even said she is very pretty because she does her appearances well and doesnt try to draw attention to herself.

    1. @Sandy - the constitution protects your right to say dumb shit but it doesn't protect you against being called out for it. You can say whatever you want, but be prepared to deal with the consequences.

I understand that for a man like yourself Lena is very threatening because she is talented and intelligent and refuses to conform to your outdated patriarchal horseshit. As a middle-aged white guy you are used to being in charge and all it should take to banish Lena from your world is a few harsh words. However she refuses to play that game and instead insists on constantly challenging your ideas about what beauty and sexuality should be. And obviously it pisses you off. But guess what? The age of the middle-aged white guys running shit is fast drawing to a close (said as a white guy nearing middle age). And it is a good thing.

So save your repressed hatred of your mother for your therapist. Mkay?

      Delete
    2. Either all that....or Lena is a fat cow who has miraculously overcome that handicap to make it to a middling HBO show that bit many people care about. Her 15 minutes are almost up, tick-tock, tick-tock.

  22. Lena Dunham looks awful. Agree with the poster who said it's as if she TRIES to look this bad. Like, that's her thing. TOTALLY!!

Baffles lmy brain how Christina Hendricks is so smoking hot but never quite has it together at these things. She needs to hire JLD's stylist.

I love Amy Poehler's look. Way sexier than she usually does. Go girl!

I only watched only a few minutes of the Emmy's last night. Luckily it was when Julia Louis-Dreyfus won. She and Bryan Cranston were HILARIOUS!

  26. I audibly gasped when I saw Lena. Why anyone would wear completely unflattering clothing constantly I will never understand.

As full figured as Christina is, she should wear something a little more sleek and streamlined.

Amy Pohler is built like me with a thick waist and she really pulls off this dress.

  28. I'm not one to usually jump in Internet squabbles, but if we're all on here judging what everybody looks like, why is it that sandybrook is getting lambasted? We are all saying catty, bitchy and mean things on here. If not now, we have at some point, surely. Isn't that the beauty of a gossip site? I just think tearing commenters' comments down makes other people reluctant to comment. That is all.

  29. Lena's hair is awful. Is she channeling Bucky Larson?

  30. Surely you realize there is a difference between saying "that dress is not flattering because of color/length/cut, etc." and calling someone a cow.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Lena you... are a f'n cow and [are] disgusting." Totally fair statement, right?

  33. That last one was good, Lotta. Thanks for the laugh.

Really though, if she had just worn a fitted white t-shirt, the look would have been vastly improved. The top looks like she grabbed it from the clearance rack of NY&Co.

  34. Lena Dunham is CLEARLY trolling and I love it. People will forget that lame show "Girls" but they WONT forget how shitty she used to look on red carpets. Work it girl!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sandybrook's assessment of Lena may not be fair, but it's his assessment. Whatever. She does look like a cow. She looks awful. Sorry, if you want to be taken seriously then dress nicely. Superficial, yes. But that's the way the world looks, especially in a place like Hollywood. Image IS everything.

And speaking of asses, honestly Sarah Silverman's interview with the press on E! after the Emmy's enraged my usually zen shit. Fuck her. She was such an asshole to the journalists. She kept rolling her eyes and hunched herself over like a petulant asshole teenager. She just won a god damn Emmy. Respect it. Own it. Be nice. What just happened to you is a blessing. Her and Lena with their "irony." Get over yourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I must believe, at this point, that Dunham is giving us the long troll, or she is working on some Phoenix/LaBeouf "social commentary" on the beauty standards we hold women to in Hollywood and around the world these days. It is the ONLY explanation I can come up with for why she would choose to look this consistently awful.

She's either an amazing troll in the fortunate position of being able to throw vast amounts of money away on looking as wretched as she possibly can, or...she was raised by The Croods. Hell, even the grandma from the Croods had a better dress!! Jesus...

And y'all. Lay off Sandy. Women's rights, constitution. What the ACTUAL fuck? This is a snarky gossip site. Let them be snarky and get the fuck over yourselves. Also: TIL Sandy is a man... I truly had no idea!!

  37. I love JLD but I do not love the lipstick color dress. It's perfectly beautiful and she looks lovely, I just think one or two shades in either the red or purple direction would've made her hair and skin glow!! And I was looking for a bolder lip with a dress that color and heralding into Autumn...although I'm sure it was still hotter than Hades in LA, so I don't really blame her...

Taylor looked good, but I think a little tighter in the bodice area would've worked better. Amy is adorable, love her.

@Susan - I didn't watch any of this fuckery last night, but I've always HATED Sarah Silverman. She just bugs the hell out of me, no matter what she's done or how good she was, her face bugs me and I can't watch more than a minute or two of her on any screen. Sucks to hear that her behavior matched the level of "annoying" as her face.

    1. I've never understood Sarah Silvermans appeal either. She's pretty but simply not funny IMHO.

  38. You do get the sense Lena D does this on purpose. I do agree that she may feel she gets criticized whatever she does so why not play the clown but I remember one event where she got it all right. And yes with the right stylist you can look good. She is not as big as some of the other bigger actresses who manage to put it together. She can even maintain some of her quirkyness and be stylish. I actually like the blonde hair though.

It does amaze me how JLD looks so great, better now that she ever was, so nice to see that women can get better with age too.

  40. @Tina - spot on with JLD - she went from awful Elaine Benes hair to having one of the best red carpet presences in Hollywood. She always looks amazing, and NEVER like she went too far with the Botox. She's like Sandra Bullock: I want to click my heels three times and cross my fingers that they are just naturally that gorgeous and ageless!! Love JLD!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Christina H was going for the Grecian goddess look, I like it, don't love it but that dress is more flattering than many others she has worn. Wearing the hair off her face works too IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sorry Pip, I'm definitely Team Sandybrook on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  43. P: A-Will - I would make sweet and tender love to her, likely making her cum twice before even entering her, so she would know how truly appreciative I was to be gifted some time in her vagina.

M: Messing - if she as cokey as rumored, she can suck a dick like a champ.

B: JLD - tight lil body on a old broad. She's probably rock my world.

    ReplyDelete
  44. P.S. I would go through Lena to get to A-Will and would expect both P & B for my efforts.

Lena, all the smoke and mirrors in the world aint gonna help.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lena: I congratulate you for trying something new, most of the other women are cowards when it comes to the red carpet. But, there is no excuse for how poorly fitted that shirt is (didn't Giambattista Valli send a seamstress with the dress?). You're a smart, influential woman, Lena, stand up straight, shoulders back, head high.
    Allison: Boring. The dress, too.
Claire: This is more like it. I love Givenchy. But, why ask for it in red? The original design was so much better.
    Debra: Horrible.
Julia Louis Dreyfus: See how a perfect fit elevates an otherwise ordinary dress? Well done, Carolina Herrera. Well done.
Kate: I appreciate the concept behind this dress, but the execution is poor. What is the detailing on the peplum? And... are those sequins? On yellow?! No, Kate, no.
Taylor: You are not helping yourself. Bold dressing could really help counteract your oatmeal reputation. Take a leaf out of Claire Danes' or January Jones' book.
Christina Hendricks: At this point, Marchesa are just trolling us, right?
Amy: You look sexy as hell, Amy. You - not the dress.
Julianna: From the waist up, yes. Waist down, no.

  46. Couple weeks ago I saw a hot chick at 7/11 in a sundress that was similar to what Margulies is wearing. Like a slip w/ some sheer lacy over it. Clung to her her cheeks and her butt was a little hungry, no panties. She walked out of the store in front of me, and when sunlight hit it, I could totally see her pussy in a reverse camel toe (SFW) way.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Did Lena dress like that on purpose? You'd have to be pretty freakin' blind to not see how horrible that dress is.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I literally just stood up and clapped for @Lucas's comment. Well done!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't know what's worse - seeing lena in that dress or out of it.

  50. Is Jezebel still having problems with porn gifs? Pretty damn pandering that their headline said "rape gifs".

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Count Jerkula
No, they've changed their system. Every comment now has to be approved before being shown. Everyone's pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pissed in the American sense, that is. They're not ALL drunks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lena and Allison should have switched outfit choices.

    ReplyDelete
  54. LOL @ Jezebel!

Have they been allowing dissenting opinions?

    ReplyDelete
  55. @Count Jerkula
    re. Jezebel
Yeah, it's fine, they haven't gone overboard with the censorship. It's just no longer possible to post gifs.
There were animal abuse gifs. But, even if the porn was legal and consensual, it can be a trigger for rape and abuse survivors.
There's still trolling, but with it only being the written word, it's less visceral.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wow, so many looking great! Jld, Kate W, Julianna M, Amy P, Hendricks, Clare & Ashley. Even Debra (though I hate to admit it since she has the rep of being a horrendous beyotch)
About Lena...there are no words, and that is not a compliment.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thank you Lucas! The venom about Dunham certainly can be over the top.

And all those who mindbogglingly defending such insults - you're ok with this but you ask for "proper" behavior from Emmy attendees. At least be consistent. Gossip site does not need to equal nasty and many are not. Learn to be snarky without being disgusting and offensive, it's not that hard. The smartest and most entertaining commenters use more subtlety and less venom.

And by the way Lena is the size of the average american woman. That's a lot of disgusting pigs I guess.

I am not Lena's demographic but I totally get what she is doing. I am not a fan but get her show - it's not great but it's not nearly as dumb as most junk on TV and she started many conversations in society. She is half trolling with the outfits at this point (gets her press) and half reflecting her generations attitude, and add some of her own quirk. There she is. Thing is, she is not some mocktress who is just a pretty face or body to look at. She is a writer and director in a very male dominated environment who found success at a very young age... So criticism of her looks are rather misplaced and I do definitely agree with Lucas that part of the hate is coming from a place of being theatened by a smart, powerful woman. I am betting she won't go away like you guys think she should. So all y'all who don't like her, try to find more civilized ways to express your hate and maybe some variety. She will be around for some time.

Also, I am not writing to change the mind of Sandy Orr any of those who defend him. I know I won't change people by an internet comment. When I saw the comment about how someone stood up to clap Lucas, I felt better. It's better to know not everyone is blind to unacceptable misogyny. I wanted to say to all those readers who were uncomfortable about the intensity of the comments about Lena that there are many of us who are lurking around who are as appalled as you.
