Blind Items Revealed

May 28, 2014

This B list mostly movie actress sibling of an almost A list mostly movie actor had a meeting which was a formality prior to being cast in a new movie. She was such a pain to everyone she met that day and acted like a diva that the director told the producers he couldn't work with the actress. The producers decided to hire her anyway and she signed the contract. Before shooting even began everyone decided she had to go and the producers ate her entire $2M salary just because she wasn't worth the hassle.

Maggie Gyllenhaal/Jake Gyllenhaal

  3. I remember a few other blinds about her being really cheap. Something about her buying some pricey vintage hat and wearing it around town then trying to take it back to the store but it was months later and the hat stunk! lol

  4. hire me not to work…sounds great

  5. I've never been impressed with her but didn't know she was such a diva.

  6. She does seem like a bit of an oddball.

  7. She's in some drama over here getting good reviews atm. As it's on BBC2 i highly doubt she's being paid anything like $2million though.

  8. Her resting bitch face says it all.

    1. I'm starting to get this. Totally sux. And there's no way I can parlay it into $2mil...which sux more

  9. I wonder what the project was? You would think it would be hard getting work after a few stories like this but these dumbasses always seem to get more work.

  10. A lot of times I wonder if an actress "being a pain" would be normal acceptable behavior for an actor.

We all know many actors who constantly get hired and paid big money even though they are horrible to everyone around them. I don't see how Mag Gyll could be any worse than Shia LeBoof or Nic Cage or James Woods or loads of other male actors who get away with terrible behavior.

  11. She's hideous, working in an industry of beautiful people. Of course she's going to be nasty, it's got to really suck to be her. Someone said that she looks like Droopy Dog, and she does. Or she could be one of Cinderella's ugly stepsisters, poor thing.

    1. Or maybe she should have just been born a man, so she could work in an already misogynistic business and be judged on her body of work, not having a "droopy face" or being an alleged bitch. I'd love to know who the director was, & which project. Alot of "droopy-faced" actors out there, married to women 30 years+ younger, behaving like prima donnas, but no one says a damn word about them. Women who judge other women by appearance only are the worst.

    2. Trilb- amen sista. Tina fey writes in her book- which will cause u to wet yourself laughing- that shes knows male comedians who cant groom or feed themselves yet they stil get work. But the women? They're all nuts, or crazy, because they want see the script or their lines or what time to show up. So they dont get work. So unfair.

      Delete
    3. And WTF, an "industry of beautiful people", REALLY? An industry which forces talented women to fit a sick business model of plastic surgery, lollipop heads, fish lips, plastic tits, anorexia, etc. in order to work/use their talent; all to please a bunch of sick women-hating men who control the money and jobs?!!

      Delete
    4. This is truly the saddest thing I've ever read. Maggie gylenhall doesn't look like a plastic Barbie like some but my bet is she is attractive compared to others outside of the industry. I totally agree trilby

  12. Wonder why the producers hired her anyway when they already knew what a pain in the a$$ that she is??

  13. I don't believe this blind at all. A $2M paycheck is large and the kind for a big big movie, a franchise or comic book type. We would have heard about it all over news sites if she were cast in one or replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  14. She's just incredibly precious, isn't she? All that acting talent, educated and a sort of modern day Mother Earth.

    Every director's dream I'd imagine.

  15. @plot
    A very good point!
    @astra worthington
Granted, she's not a raving beauty, but have you seen 'Secretary'?

  16. No way is Maggie Gyllenhaal a $2M actress. She's not a lead, even in Indies. I would be shocked if she got $1M per. And no way would any producer eat her salary. That's bad business. They would never have let her sign the contract. This BI is made up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maggie is a $2M actress? She got cast, signed a contract, then was fired and nobody heard about that? BS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree w/ Essie. Has she ever been in a movie that cleared $0.37?

  19. I felt for Peter saarsgard. I feel like he is a whipped and kept man.

  20. Wow! She must be a real pain in the ass! Or....... She scores some zash for doing nothing. Hmmmmm.

  21. Hollywood accounting is not like the real world, and the pay scale often makes no sense. It's feasible to pay off an actor and simply record it as a business loss..no mg doesn't appear to be worth that much but the system is totally screwy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm inclined to agree with others questioning the veracity of this blind. Maybe right after that movie with Jeff Bridges her stock may have risen and she was nominated for supporting if I recall correctly. But paying without playing would have be quite scrutinated by the insurance company and producers. NQR this one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. She has a new mini series on sundance.

I recorded it but haven't watched. looks good.

    ReplyDelete
  24. She was the lead in one film......Nanny McFitch or something like that. She played the mother. Actually she was one of the leads. There was the actress who played the nanny too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. +1 Trilby. Women can treat each other just as badly as man treat them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Her best role will always be in Secretary.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No I never saw that movie. I certainly don't feel like I have to pretend that some ugly woman who is apparently a pain in the ass is great simply because we're the same sex.

Nobody FORCES these women to be in this industry. They could be doctors, lawyers, or anything where good looks, surgery and low weight aren't required 99% of the time for 99% of people (even men). When a man acts like an asshole, I'm pretty sure everyone here (myself included) call them out on it and give them hell, so forgive me if I don't buy this sexism bullcrap. They get amply compensated for their trouble and like I said, nobody is holding a gun to their head and forcing them to do this job.

Women comics? When I find one that is actually funny, I might care more about their plight in Hollywood. But I suppose I'm supposed to laugh at them because they're women? Nah.

If women who judge by appearance are the worst, then that's 99.9% of women out there. Please don't act like you don't do it either, especially with celebs. I'm not going to cry for the plight of these poor creatures, they're grown ass women and if they can't handle the real world, how is that my problem? You think Maggie doesn't know she's ugly? I'm assuming she's not blind, and owns a mirror. Why sugarcoat it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wish someone would give me 2 million not to work. I can be just as obnoxious as Maggie, I swear.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "You think Maggie doesn't know she's ugly? I'm assuming she's not blind, and owns a mirror. Why sugarcoat it?"

Then there's the kind of ugliness that the mirror isn't able to reveal...

  30. @Brenda L. +1

    Wow, @astra, bitter much?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I saw her on The Daily Show and she's an inarticulate dope.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nah, not bitter. About what? It just grates on me, acting like this woman is in any way attractive is just weird, and maybe borderline delusional. Yeah yeah I'm mean and terrible and ugly on the inside, that's fine. But I own it, dammit! I do treat people with respect and courtesy regardless in real life but I'm not gonna lie on the internet!

But you can't honestly say that ugly people don't know they're ugly. Come on!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've always thought she's kind of cute in a quirky way; certainly not ugly by any means. And she was Oscar-caliber good in Secretary.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've always liked Maggie. I liked the way her character put Kirstin Dunst's character in her place in Mona Lisa Smile. I also think she's pretty - she's got gorgeous eyes & a great smile. I don't know where you're getting this ugly crap from. You must have a pretty narrow view of what you think is pretty (I feel sorry for your kids if they aren't good looking enough for your standards). I agree that this blind sounds like BS. Hard to hate on Maggie for doing this if it didn't really happen. She's always been good in everything I've seen her in.

  35. I loved her in "Stranger Than Fiction." Not feeling the new show, though, although I like all the actresses in the cast.

    ReplyDelete
  36. She's really great in "The Honourable
    Woman".

  37. Kathy Bates is not a Hollywood Barbie, but I enjoy her work, because she plays interesting characters.I am the one who called MG "Droopy Dog" because I resent being forced to make-believe that Jeff Bridges or Christian Bale would fall head over heels in love with her luminous beauty. Those are the only 2 roles that I have seen her in and can judge her on. Maybe if she played a different type of character, I would have a different opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. MinPinGirl, that's an awful lot of assumptions about my parenting simply because I have an opinion that you don't share. Being beautiful isn't the most important thing in the real world, but if you're a younger woman in Hollywood, where looks are extremely important, then it IS going to be discussed. And I just won't pretend that she's in any way, shape or form, attractive. It's subjective and there are people who probably think she's hot but I'm not one of them.

We all know she's in Hollywood because her parents are in the business, so she's unattractive, allegedly has a nasty personality and didn't get where she is on talent and hard work alone (but most of them don't, to be fair). From the one or two times I saw her on a late night show she didn't have that spark or appeal that lots of less conventionally attractive people have (like Kathy Bates) and I hated her in whatever Batman movie she was in because, like CowJam said, it was unbelievable that Christian Bale would be attracted to her.

I guess I wasn't aware that all opinions had to be nice, especially about this woman. And she DOES look like Droopy Dog or the stepsister from Cinderella.

  40. Okay, so astra thinks it's okay that US actresses are cookie cutter and vapid. Fine for her then. I don't happen to agree. I'd rather see great actresses no matter what their appearance or behavior, much like what we see with actors in the USA.

No funny women? Are you completely serious? For myself, at least funny women aren't indulging in the constant refrain of black comics - White Behavior versus Black Behavior - or the long litany of male comics with their "have you ever noticed" schtick. It's so tired. I have to go back at least 10 years to find a funny stand up comedian anymore...and most likely it's 20 years. So what exactly is your point of comparison?

I find many, many women to be extremely funny, both on TV and IRL. True, the pickings are getting slimmer these days with the rise of the social media generation who have lost all abilities to communicate effectively on all levels...but that is both women and men (for instance Jonah Hill or Michael Cera. One great role and bumbling nonsense afterwards, but they make lots of money to keep trying, unlike actresses.) I certainly miss the early years of Margaret Cho, Kathy Griffon, David Chappelle and Chris Rock. The comic stylist who has held up the best for over two decades, to my mind, is Julia Louis-Dreyfus, but yeah she's female so you've probably written her off out of convenience for your mind set.

Astra, you seem to suggest that women shouldn't even attempt acting unless they are cookie cutter gorgeous, and certainly NEVER try comedy because it's pointless for women to pretend they are funny. Frankly, I could not care less how you raise your miserable crotch fruit. Let them be as confined and bitter as you are. They will be excellent little mediocrities for better talents to trod upon and use for advancement.

  41. Plot:

Why don't you go back and re-read my last comment? I said that you don't have to be beautiful to be an actress but you DO have to have some sort of allure, spark, or appeal. I referred to Kathy Bates as someone who may not be physically beautiful but does have all of those things, and talent, presence and poise.

As for women comedians, I don't hate them or anything, I just haven't found one that I find funny. I find very few male comedians funny as well, but there are a few out there that have their moments. I haven't found a female comedian that I think is funny. Once again, that is MY OPINION and I don't have to justify it to you or anyone, for that matter.

You're also projecting a lot onto me. I never said anything about women not trying comedy, or not acting. Just because I don't think someone is funny doesn't mean that others don't like them. I can't believe I have to point out such patently obvious stuff to what I presume is another adult.

As for your comments about my children, it's pretty funny that you get all pissy about a random person's opinion on the internet being mean, yet you think it's cool to call children "miserable crotch fruit" and "mediocre". Guess you'll have to climb down from that high horse of yours and stop pretending like you're so morally superior! Not that I give two shits what you think about my kids, or me, or anything really. You stay classy and have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh forgot to add that it's interesting that merely having a different opinion makes you "confined and bitter". Why do you feel the need to personally attack someone you don't even know for having an opinion that doesn't meet with your approval? I don't know you, don't know your life and certainly don't feel the need or desire to make nasty personal attacks on you because you don't like my comments. WTF is with that shit on this site? It's not that serious really.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Moral inferiority is not the issue (who is bringing that to the table again? Was it me who claimed that actresses who complain should just "shut up" and "deal with it"?) Taste is. If you are simply unable to extend your criteria for "funny" or "spark" beyond a limited range of preconceptions, then you are CHOOSING to limit yourself not based on good material but the righteousness of yourself.

Yeah, that attitude must be a real treat for your fuck trophies.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't preach to you about what you should or shouldn't like. I don't tell you what your opinions are based on, because how the hell would I know? My personal taste is obviously very different from yours but I don't feel the need to tell you that you're wrong for your taste, or insult you or your family because I disagree. It's not that big of a deal and I don't care what other people like, it's a big world and there's something for everyone.

Once again, you don't know me, my "fuck trophies", "crotch droppings" or whatever other insults you'll use next, so stop putting words into my mouth and projecting whatever your bizarre issues are onto me. I never claimed to be righteous or anything of the sort, so it's apparent that you are just making stuff up now. Why is my opinion sending you into a frenzy? It's not that serious, but you're turning it into some kind of attempt to rile me by insulting my kids, or something. I could insult you right back but it's not that important and your opinion of my life, personal taste and children really doesn't matter to me. Sorry!

You have a nice day regardless :)

  45. She is able to show the full range of emotions from smug to condescending. Just because someone is unattractive doesn't mean they can act and the coralary is true as well.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh but she has always seemed so professional and levelheaded for someone who grew up in the industry.
