Great choices! They always had great movies. Even their not so great movies are so much better than what we see today (I'm thinking The Winds of War TV mini-series). How I loved those mini-series of the 70s-80s though.
Am I really the first one to mention Kurt Cobain? It would have been interesting to see what he would have done musically after breaking up Nirvana (because that was going to happen sooner or later), not to mention having him around for Frances Bean...
Heath Ledger Madeline Kahn Audrey Hepburn Kate Hepburn Peter Ustinov Ruth Gordon Bette Davis James Dean Richard Pryor Marlon Brando Craig Milstead aka Divine and most of all Gilda Radner.
Jeff Buckley...I was fortunate enough to see him live twice and it was beyond thrilling both times but also agree with Freddie Mercury, he would have been amazing to see too. Both taken too young...
BeckyMae, we must be soul mates! He is my #1 too. Huge fan!! I was friends with his mother, Mary and also Keith Foti (only person who was present when Jeff drowned) for a while.
Gautama Buddha, Muhammad, and Jesus Christ. I figure if we had 'em all at the same time, they'd have all our crazy shit straightened out tout de suite.
@Sniotches. I couldn't believe anyione mentioned him. I was scrolling down to write his name, but reading as I scrolled and there he was!! Forever <3
I looooovvvvved Freddie. I was pretty young when he died but I already had ex boyfriends and 2 of them sent me flowers upon hearing the news Of The World.
@Vera. I love the Michael Hutchence shout out. Good one.
Leonardo da Vinci. Just because he's been dead longer makes him no less of a celebrity. He was a rock star in his day. I think a mind like his would blaze no matter when he lived.
All those who died too young,,,Monroe,,hutchence, Yates, peaches, Hoffman, cobain, Elvis, macoll, winehouse, Houston, Diana and dodi, Dean,,and so many, many more :-((,
Oh wow MissJenny that is super cool! He was just so brilliant....and funny....I remember one time I saw him in Sydney and he chided the screaming fan girls in the front to quieter down whilst he played the lofi stuff but added "There'll be time for underwear throwing later..."
Good one, East Coaster. Not only should Teddy be alive, he should be President again, so he could break up all the "too big to fail"s we got holding out economy hostage.
Really just one of the most amiable and stand up people you could've ever met. A pioneer in the film industry, a consummate actor's actor, and a tremendous champion of classic films in his last few decades. He would attend any screenings he was asked to, do Q & As, meet with fans, share his wisdom with younger generations. And a pretty big and unsung hero in the LGBT world too. As one of the first major "top billing" stars who refused to hide their sexuality. I took his death hard, as a long time fan, grateful student of his film wisdom shared, and acquaintance.
I was actually about to met him again for a long sit-down interview to help my budding career as a film historian just a few months before he died suddenly. I'll always regret never having had that chance to get to know him better. And I'll always cherish having known such a truly wonderful and inspiring man personally.
RIP to both Farley and Bob Calhoun, such fantastic gentlemen who are sorely missed!
Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Peter Steele, Mike Starr, Jim Morrison, Freddie Mercury, Heath Ledger, George Harrison, and, my Mom & Dad...I know, not famous, but, you know...:(
Phil Hartman. I wanted at least 5 more good seasons of Newsradio.
John Lennon, because is love to see how he would have adapted his politics through the last 30 years.
Nick Adenhart (baseball player), because his talent was huge and I would love to see him play with Mike Trout (though maybe Trout wouldn't be quite as good if he hadn't gone through that tragedy)
Enty!
