Nothing really?
How much time do we have?
When I accidentally burned down the school gym. Killed all the vampires, though ;)
Everything that happened in high school was all good memories. High school may have been the best 4 years of my life never forgotten.
I have never actually heard anyone say that.
Refreshing!
When I had a plastic bag instead of an eco-friendly bag. So.Embarrassing.
Everything. That pretty much sums it up.
When I lost my class ring.
I got locked in the bathroom on the first day (senior year) a bunch of lowerclassmen were making fun of me on the other side... then I found out they were in my next class.
I accidentally yanked out all my eyelashes in on eye with an eyelash curler in my junior year, one month from appointment to have my senior picture taken.
To this day they've not all grown back.
*wincing* @hothotheat. I had a friend who deliberately pulled all of her eyelashes out, thinking they would grow back thicker and longer. 35 years later, she still has none.
being stood up for a prom that wasn't even MY prom my grade (I was one year younger than a graduate) or my school! All dressed up and no where to go
OMG, where did she get that idea?
Accidently fell off my seat in lunch... don't recall how, balance was never my strong suit.
jesus on way to school once I DONT KNOW HOW but i caught heaviest period of my life on the way there, and i had long shirt, the blood was ON THE FRONT. Period saturated the whole front my pants and my shirt. I was on a crowded train and was mortified. Had to turn around go back home and missed an important test
I had sex with Kim Khardashian and we made a video of it. She said she was preparing for future career. And now I am totally embarrassed.
For the record, this did not happen.
All 4 years.
I'm sorry hothotheat! I cut my eyelashes down to the lid when I was 4 because I thought it worked like a haircut and would grow in faster and longer. Had zero lashes for years, but they grew back in long as hell much later.
I was inadvertently outted as a freshman. I was still struggling to come to terms with my own sexuality and really wasn't prepared to deal with all the ignorance and homophobia. One of my brothers even got mad at me for humiliating HIM, because apparently it was embarrassing to drive his "fucking dyke of a sister" to school. I still hate high school.
Slipped on a chip in the canteen and went flying on my hoop in front of everyone-some 5th years came and helped me up. Pure morto though.
I threw up in class sophomore year. And again on my way to bathroom in front of a glass walled computer lab. Fun times.
Showing up.
I haven't a clue, she was an odd duck and that's saying something 'cause I'm an odd duck.
We had a blood drive at my school during lunch one day. I didn't eat much after donating blood because there was a band playing in the quad that I didn't want to miss. I fainted 30 minutes later in my Government/Econ class.
@Lady H, that's not just embarrassing, that's almost life-ruining. I'm sorry that you had to go through that.
Sorry to hear that Lady H. I'm sure HS was hard for you, I hope you've moved past it.
My older sister (by 3 years) refused to acknowledge me at school because I was chubby.
Also because she was a bitch. We're good now but that's because there's 50 miles between us.
Hugs, LadyH. Your brother was/is? an asshole.
Last day of high school we'd have an all out food fight. Teachers - students - all out war - no space was sacred.
At one point I (female) was chasing a good friend of mine (male, a team soccer player). He got me, my turn. He went into the boys change room. No sacred areas right? So after hesitating for a minute, I charged in.
He saw me, smiled - one of those "now I gotcha" grins
And dropped the towel he was wearing.
I went Beet Red! Totally caught off guard! Whipped my back to him.
- he's killing himself laughing.
I started laughing
Turned back around to face him - said "nice shlong bro! Geez your big!" and whipped the water balloon at his peen before running back out!
I just trip over my own 2 feet, still do, but don't fall completely down any more.
I think they might have overlooked that if you hadn't killed the Principal later on.
When I cussed out a teacher and she had me banned from her class. Yeah, high school were some dark years for me.
Thank hot, meanie and Karen for the kind words! I always knew intuitively that there was nothing wrong with me and that everyone else just sucked, but doesn't make it hurt less. My bro has come around and I know he is ashamed of how he handled it. It was just really hard because no one else in my class had been in a same-sex relationship yet, so I caught all the shit. I have had at least five women contact me over the years to say that I inspired them by continuing to date my gf after being outted, and they said I made it easier for them to come out.
But high school kids have this pathological fear of being labeled gay. CJ Pascoe has done a lot of great work on this subject (see Dude You're a Fag: Masculinity and Sexuality in Hugh School).
Oh Derek! I'm sure you would have been the greatest prom king ever!
I was a teacher's assistant in 4th period, and fell asleep at the teacher's desk. When I woke up it was the middle of 5th period. I had slept all of 4th period, through lunch and part way into 5th period class. Lol
Lady H - high school was hard enough, I can't imagine having to deal with being outed and having a shit head brother too. Glad he's come around. I live on the West Coast and there are plenty of kids who are out at my sons' HS now and it's no big deal. It's heartening to see how much more progressive kids are these days (at least where I live. I know it's not the same everywhere. Yet)
Lady H, I can totally sympathize with you. I'm sure your situation was worse than mine, but I was tortured mercilessly in High School. I hated going to school. In fact, I blew it off as much as possible. Got straight A's though. Got a reunion invitation a month ago and joyfully shredded it. Those people can eat s**t and bark at the moon for all I care. Woo, aggression released.
@Gayeld I would never!! First one got eaten by Hyena students, second by the Mayor :)
Got drunk, passed out in the bathroom, and was carried out past the band, teachers, students and parents at our Senior Party. Almost got kicked off cheerleading except for the fact that, while everybody and their dog was at this event, it was not a school sponsored function so they couldn't do anything.
Having my teacher argue with the entire class about whether I was a boy or not (spoiler alert:female)
I had something similar happen to me. Wasn't even someone I dated. I was going with him just because he didn't have a date and I felt bad for him. Then he stood me up.
Freshman year high school. My period started for the very first time. Yes, I was wearing white jeans. Had to walk home in bloody jeans 1 1/2 miles home, including getting past security onto Air Force base. Still can hear kids laughing behind me the whole way home.......
A false rumor that my supposed best friend started about me... the rumor spread throughout the whole (small redneck) school when I was a freshman. My friend told people that I put peanut butter on myself and let my dog lick it off. I crack up about it now but at the time It was so bad that I was followed by huge groups of seniors who taunted me calling me "peanut butter girl." I cried every day and missed so many days that truancy had to intervene. To this day, I don't know why I didn't transfer schools. After summer, it finally blew over and I was able to have a fairly normal high school experience after that.
I joined the Plastic.
forgot to wear deodorant one day in florida and teacher made me sit outside
You know, i think by high school my embarassing incidents were over. Cant think of any. Plenty before, but not in HS.
haha thanks Lady H! Glad to see those years are behind you and you and are now confident and feisty xo!
some of these stories are crackin me up---the deodorant one! lol
and TTM please tell us more! Did you have a mushroom cut or something?
Wth is so funny about bloody clothes? I dont get the humor.
I was a fat anarchist that believed wearing makeup and brushing one's hair was a tool of patriarchy. Good thing I was funny or I would have had NO friends.
@TTM--I see I see----was the teacher pro-your a female or against you being a female? Good grief if half these stories involving mean teachers were to happen today it would make headline news---kids need to toughen up a little more these days---what doesn't kill you makes you stronger I say
Dude was positive I was a guy and was remonstrating with the class for "teasing" me by saying I was female. He was very confused after.
I was bullied (locker shoving, pushing, f-talk) for most of that year by an older student who ALSO thought I was a dude, he left me alone once he realized there was actually a good reason for me to be wearing purple shoes and hammer pants. But really, is there ever a reason to wear purple shoes and hammer pants? He may have had a point.
@TTM---just don't send your adorable boys to school in hammer pants and purple shoes---even though I am sure at some point that will become in-fashion again...
Hubs is already concerned about the prevalence of argyle sweater vests and fedoras, so I may have to take a second look...
Love you & your Buffy references VIP!
idk
I just remember feeling painfully self conscious all of the time
but now I have no idea why??????
Set my hair/eyebrows on fire in chemistry class with the bunsen burner!
Oh lady h so sad. . Sugar Hugs 4 you.
I was so lucky! I only did one year of high school. My mom and I lived temporarily in a very ritzy tony suburb with my aunt and uncle. My mom and aunt (was my mom SIL) hated each other though so we wound up having to move after one year to a housing project, and that was when I had to drop out. The town the housing project was in was extremely bad, infested with gangs, so bad locals called it Little Chicago. So I was very lucky to do my one year of high school in the tony suburb.
The most embarrassing thing that happened to me was "period trouble" and that's all I'm gonna say. Like I said, I was really lucky--one of the other girls told me and I had my Levi Deinim jacket with me and I wore that around my waist the rest of the day and never used that brand of pads again. Had this happened to at the Little Chicago high school I would have been killed.
Everything. I was teased constantly.
I think the question is, what's the least embarrassing thing I did in high school.
My best friend's boyfriend hit on me. I turned him down, both because he was my best friend's boyfriend and I found him absolutely repugnant. He was so terrified that I was going to tell her what happened, that he told everybody I was a whore who hit on him. Of course people wanted to believe that, so I was the pariah…even my best friend believed him.
some guy I really liked stepped on my flip flop causing me to fly over it. I was so damned embarrassed because it was like I was a klutz.
I had to tell off a few people because I was 'low income' and people made fun of me. Wasn't proud of myself, but it needed to be done.
Falling off a stage during a production. My family still reminds me about it on a regular basis, nearly 30 years later.
@nurysp: periods were my Achilles heel. In and out of hospitals. Lots of drugs. Very very miserable times. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.
A girl I thought was a friend, her brother was the neighborhood dope dealer, he went back and told her that my mom was scoring drugs from him (I didn't know she was using, highly functional and I didn't see the signs but now as an adult, I seen the flags).I found out when the girl went back and told other kids at school. Totally devastated to find out from students that mom was a drug addict. But now, my mom has been clean and sober since 2001.
Some guys started a rumor that I was a lesbian because I wouldn't let them run a gang bang train on me. Still hurts to this day.
Ugh. High school was one long embarrassment. I really hate people who actually enjoyed it. I mean, I liked school, I liked learning, but socially it was The. Worst.
Lousi-please dont spend one more minute hurting over the lies told about years ago. You did the right thing, of course, and they have to live with what they did the rest of their lives.
The period problems (other than having to stay home due to horrendous cramps--ibuprofen changed my life when it came out just before I started college, I swear) ended pretty much after junior high, thank God. In high school, it's probably a toss-up between accidentally leaving my fly unzipped while doing a report in front of my senior English class on D.H. Lawrence (when I got to Aaron's Rod and The Boy in the Bush, I thought one of my BFFs was going to piss herself, she was laughing so damn hard), and the time I tried to set a tampon (UNUSED, I hasten to add) on fire to use as a torch while exploring a "scary" back road; I spent a fair amount of senior year being called "Torch", but it was all in good fun, so I didn't really mind.
In grade 7 a friend and I had been passing a note about a boy I liked. It fell out of my binder in the cafeteria and the class passed it around and read it.
Not nearly as hurtful as some others have shared, and I hope you have all found healing.
Oh. We couldn't afford a class ring, so I had to wear a ring pop.
This did not happen....I hope
Wore a Scoliosis back brace. It was a living hellhole.
Hmm, probably when I fell up the stairs in front of two popular upperclassmen. How dare I interrupt their makeout sesh on the way to class!
Also, a "friend" on mine stole a terrible picture of me from my bedroom drawer and taped it to our classroom door with the caption : "Snootches on a good day".
@Snootches - it really did!
Out graduating prom was @ a hotel. 1200 classmates partying it up - we were the last of the huge group graduating. Most of us rented rooms for the night, even though we all lived in the city - but we were all such good friends, we wanted to extend the party.
My group of 9 had 2 adjoining rooms. Our buddies off the soccer team were down the hall and had 4 rooms of their own. We hoped around, partying from room to room, celebrating with a toast to some city in the world every half hour.
My friend - the male soccer player that I had only recently been visually introduced to his "member", got so plastered, he didn't even realize when we put him in the elevator and sent him to the lobby
He was buck naked!
Hotel management came up. Gave us a warning to keep it down. Oh and to return all the furniture from all the different floors. We needed more seating. So we "borrowed" chairs, flower displays, lighting -- from 7 elevator lobbies.
@Lady H - Sorry you went thru that. Times have changed and you should consider yourself a trail blazer. As Moxie said, kids at some schools are out and it is no big deal. My daughter's school has many out gays kids.
In the 9th grade..i fell down the steps with all my fundraising candy boxes
When i was molested by a 47yr old my sophomore year some classmates ridiculed and ostrcized me for it
i actually didnt live it down until i was caught sharing a first kiss with another girl at the local park by about 20 cool kids who were roaming en masse. i then got called "flumper" or "fat lesbian humper" for the last 2 years of HS. it was a slight improvement from being called "cow" or just "moo" in middle school.
