Today's Blind Items - Sexual Harrassment

One of the more popular shows of all-time had some behind the scenes drama which would not be allowed today. It just wouldn't happen because of the internet and TMZ and at least on television sets, the atmosphere is more business like. On movie sets, all of this still goes on. The show was #1 for lots of years. Sitcom. Really popular. The male star of the show got to be A+ list on television and has never dropped below a B. Not that great of an actor. His movies have for the most part done poorly. On the set of this show he was king though and he made it very clear to any woman who wanted a line on the show was going to have to sleep with him. He really got to like one of his co-stars and demanded more and more from her and when she finally stopped giving in to his sexual demands he had her fired and made it look like she quit. When she did leave, another actress on the show always put up with everything he did but since the show ended they have not spoken. Ever. Not a word because of the way he used her and the things he made her do. He acts like he is progressive but he was and still is a tool. He just doesn't have a platform any longer to be as rude as he once was.

The other actress who put up with it could be Patricia or Debbie. I picked Patricia only because the BI seemed to me to imply actress #2 was on the show for it's full run (though now I can see that's not actually explicitly stated).

  28. Ted Danson is a very good actor but the descriptions aren't always accurate, of course. He just never struck me as rude or a bad guy....tough believing this could be him.

  30. Can't be Tim Allen. Toy Story and The Santa Clause were huge successes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't like the Cheers guess. There was a lot of camaraderie on that set (minus Shelley?), and Ted and Kirstie have spoken well of each other since then. Plus he and Mary Steenburgen seem to have one of the more stable, normal marriages in Hollywood. I know nothing about King of Queens...don't really feel Seinfeld fits either without the major cast change.

    ReplyDelete
  32. But when did Tim Allen ever act like he was progressive, if anything Allen did not mind being considered a bit of a red neck if not very much his character on his show, if I recall correctly, who was not progressive, just a typical guy with a strong wife setting him straight ha ha

Ted Danson is the one out there supporting this and that cause and this and that Democratic candidate with the wifey right there beside him.

I would read this as Kirsty who replaced Long putting up with his antics because she needed the gig.

If it is him, he must behaving on CSI now that TV sets are all business. Also now he is the one that needs the gig.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I always knew Ray Romano was evil.

  50. What does "He just doesn't have a platform any longer to be as rude as he once was" mean? If I read it as meaning he no longer has a show then Ted Danson and Tim Allen are out inasmuch as they are currently starring on CSI and Last Man Standing respectively. That would also leave out Ed O'Neill (Married With Children, Modern Family). If it means they no longer have number one shows then all three remain candidates. The only candidate without a show at the moment is Kelsey Grammer. A reference to "platform" could indicate KG's most recent show in which he played a politician. Alternatively "tool" could reference TA and Home Improvement.

  54. Sorry, I don't believe a word out of Tila's mouth.

And since she is a known whore (was it here I saw the Twitter DMs of her booking a session?), it would only be considered Theft of Services, not rape.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I thought Shelly left to do movies, she won an Emmy for Cheers & believed all the hype about her, thought she would be a movie star. Rhea just hated her, because she acted like a diva.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Rape is rape @Count, even if it's a prostitute.

Tim Allen is SO not a progressive. I saw a few minutes of this year's Last Man Standing, and he's managed to change the format to basically be a right-wing propaganda platform. I was surprised, as there's really hardly even any plot anymore, he actually stands there and gives conservative political speeches, all in the "role" of the Dad. Bizarre.

    ReplyDelete
  57. My vote is for Kelsie Grammer. Frazier was #1 forever, he definitely was the "King" of that show, and he's had drug problems.

Cheers was a long-running #1 show, but no way was Ted Danson the "King" of it. Ted was just a supporting player to Cliff Claven.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's Cheers, this is common knowledge!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Neither Kelsey Grammer nor Tim Allen is politically progressive. They both had very serious drug issues back in the day but I've never heard any (credible) person (unreal housewives don't count as credible) saying they were bad guys and both have gone on to do more projects that were very popular since their initial forays.

  60. Pam Anderson sat out the 2012 reunion show for H.I., and she'd turn at a door opening, so that's telling.

  61. I thought of "Cheers" and Ted Danson, too, but he DOES seem like a good guy so I'm rethinking it. And he IS still on, what..."NCIS"? AND, Kirstie's a bigmouth.

Doubtful that it would be Kelsey (if we're specifically talking about "Cheers" and not "Frasier") since he wasn't an original cast member,,and I would just never think of him as the "king" of "Cheers," either.

But yeah, the "progressive" thing sounds like TD. Isn't his big pet project saving the oceans, especially near his home in Malibu? Not to mention dating Whoopi.

Hmm...so it's back to the drawing board, are we? I dunno.

  63. Frasier - Kelsey Grammar: Seattle is in King County and Mercedes Ruehl for the "quitter".

    ReplyDelete
  64. This sounds like Ted and Cheers, which upsets me because I love Cheers and I happen to really like Ted in all of his roles...

He did do blackface, though, which still makes me cringe. And he IS progressive. Cheers also had a lot of bit actresses, either Sam's dates or bar patrons. Frasier's girlfriends were almost all known actresses like Felicity Huffman, Virginia Madsen, Laura Linney, Patricia Clarkson. Only a few were unknowns and even so, far from the "sexy tart" girls Cheers always had coming along.

    Damnit.

  87. I doubt John Ritter. Somers was the star of that show and I doubt she would quit because Ritter came onto her. She left because she asked for more money and ABC wouldn't give it to her.

Doubt it Ted Danson. Cheers started off as a Shelly Long show, she was the biggest name thanks to Night Shift. Not to say his attitude might have changed later and thought he had a chance with her, but she left because of money and thought she would be successful in movies (which she sort of was for a wee while)

Grammar actually does fit. But Bebe Neuworth wasn't actually replaced and she still came back and even did Frasier. And no female cast member from Frasier quit or was replaced.

My guess is one of the guys from Full House. Alanis wrote a freaking song about how one of them was an asshole. I could see him going through the temps actresses.

Cheers would seem like it but it's just hard to believe it's Ted. Plus I think Danson's a decent actor even though I know that's a subjective call.

Can't be Frazier, he's republican. Can't be Martin since Tina quitting the show for sexual harassment was all public, and she continued filming in the final season on the stipulation she didn't have to do any scenes with Martin. Can't be Tim Allen because he's not known for progressive causes. I also for some reason can't see Pam Anderson leaving for that reason.

  98. @Steampunk: I'm with ya on modernizing and legalizing whoring. With the tests and pharmaceuticals available today, the health risks involved could be greatly minimized, even for whores offering bareback.*

Only way for it to be legalized is to take the right to vote away from women. If there one thing broads don't want to happen is whores fuckin up their legal monopoly of pussy. Legal sex, w/ a chick you can pick off a website, a phone call and couple hundred bucks away would greatly reduce a dude's nonsense tolerance.

*This Truvada drug, that reduces HIV-1 transmission risk by over 90% is now said to also minimize herpes transmission by 36%. $1300/30pills w/o health insurance is pretty steep though. I didn't see if it was a daily or per use drug.

If it is per use, then that, 30hr Cialis and the morning after pill would be a great weekend. Especially if they all mix well w/ beer and weed.

  106. Tim Allen - Home Improvement was my first thought. Pam Anderson & Debbie Dunning fit into the story. "His movies for the most part have done poorly" was the tip off clue, yes The Santa Clause was huge but he followed with some real stinkers. "tool" is the other clear clue.

  108. @Henriette -- surely Cosby?

Heard he's one nasty SOB (even if Fat Albert was lovable). I was too cool to have TV then, but the program was massive--like, OMG, a middle-class black family sitcom that's just like a middle-class white family sitcom--everyone's equally mediocre!

It was all Cosby's idea, too, & the man was treated like a god. I can easily imagine white TV execs looking the other way if he helped himself to the more tawdry perquisites of godhood. After all, Jupiter paid any mind to a girl saying "no."

  109. @Jerkula: He might not be official street mob, but he's still plenty "mob" if you get my drift. You have to be just to get your hands dirty in Jersey politics, the place is kind of a different planet compared to other areas of the country. Price of entry requires organized "mob" shadiness on that level.

  110. @el80ne: He was a Federal Prosecutor who made a huge, headline grabbing case busting pay to play politicians in NJ. He got elected as a Repub in a predominantly Dem state because of that and the fact that EVERYONE hated that shady Corzine mutha fucker, who was a real embarrassment.

Feds have been slaughtering dirty politicians here in NJ for the past decade. Mayors of Trenton and Hamilton, and some ancillary officials, have gone down in the past year.

P.S. NJ GOP govs always go further in their political career, Keane, Whitman, eventually Christie. Dems leave office in shame, Florio, McGreevey, Corzine. Only good Dem we've had in my lifetime was Codey, who filled in when McGreevey resigned. Would have been very happy if that dude stuck around, rather than strep aside for Corzine.

  111. This is one of the best blinds in a long time. It sounds like Ted as Tim and Frasier just don't fit.

  112. Bill Cosby

    Cosby Show was no. 1 for 5 years between 1985 - 1990.

  113. Cosby would definitely be considered A+ despite making Leonard 6, Ghost Dad and Meteor Man to name a few. Lisa Bonet for the actress.
