Today's Blind Items - The Mom Controls All
This up and coming teen actress who I don't want to call a tweener because she is on non Disney type shows is probably a B- list actress. Mostly television. Had a good run on two critical hit shows and now has a brand new show starting. Well, her former actress mom wants to make sure nothing alters the path she has chosen for her daughter.
As soon as the announcement came that our actress got this great new role, her mom got some news from a friend that the star of the show is a Scientologist. Well the mom of our teen happens to be a conservative evangelical protestant Christian who thinks that Scientology is a cult and the work of the Devil. She called the producers and demanded that the lead actress be barred from ever talking to her daughter about Scientology or anything related and if she ever does mom will yank her daughter right out of the show forever.
On another show that our teen stars on, her mom was worried about the story lines of the show and wanted to make sure her daughter would not be involved in any of the controversial topics discussed on the show and to have producers agree that her daughter's character was too young to date anyone and will never have a boyfriend on the show. The producers agreed to everything. The producers of all these shows know that she is going to be a huge star and want to keep everyone happy.
Bailee Madison
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I bow to thee VIP, Queen of the blinds, first of her name and mother of FFF.
Delete@Ray :)
DeleteAll religions are cults. With that, I got nothing.
ReplyDeleteI dont know who this is but I dont have one problem with what mommy did. Especially with the $CIO.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Sandy. She's just doing her job as a mom.
Delete@sandybrook Cosign. The other stage moms could learn a thing or two from her.
DeleteHell yes. She's not Nancy Heigl , and god help a Scientologist trying to turn my kid, and that's all they do.
DeleteRight @Sandybrook? Both parts, particularly the CO$ stuff-just make it sound like she is actively being a good and not self-serving mom :)
DeleteMaybe Enty considers this Blind worthy because good parenting out in H'Wood is categorically non-existent?
Whoever she is, Kris, Dina and Chloe Moretz's mom all need this lady's boot camp immediately!
Bailee Madison.
ReplyDeleteI don't know.
ReplyDeleteWat show is she on, Reno?
ReplyDeleteRay, I knew it too! LOL Just couldn't type fast enough. I usually can't get these, so I'm quite proud.
ReplyDeleteAww good job, Reno!
DeleteHail to thee Reno, gossip sister of Queen VIP and protector of the realm.
DeleteTrophy Wife
ReplyDeleteStill no clue but thank you.
DeleteIsn't she the one everyone also guessed for the mom who put her on prescription diet pills, because she still had a chubby cute face, but is no longer a child.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Shelly?
ReplyDeleteWhere's Rena?
DeleteI got to the 1st sentence I knew it was trophy wife girl
ReplyDeleteI just had to search who she was, OMG is she freaking adorable!!! What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThis Madison bim looks like Katie Holmes, if Katie had a soul.
ReplyDeleteHer mom is wise to protect her from all that crap. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wigs!
ReplyDeleteBetter hope she is just as overprotective outside the roles.
ReplyDeleteWare, she was also in the movie Parental Guidance with Bette Midler and Billy Crystal.
ReplyDeleteShe's apparently in a new coming series The Fosters according to IMDB. I don't think Teri Polo (a mom on the show)is Scio, but the other woman might be.
I guess I'll have to Google. Who was the Scio who got the axe??
ReplyDeleteLOL Thanks Ray, I'll take that title one time.
ReplyDeleteReno knows wats up.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome mother. I wish there were more protective mom's like this one. A mother should be controlling their child and making sure she/he is not negatively influenced, especially in the acting business, where so many children are taken advantage of. Most celeb mom's would sell their kids souls to the devil if it meant fame and fortune.
ReplyDeleteThe Foster is not a new show, and neither lead actress is a Scientologist.
ReplyDeleteThe Foster is not a new show, and neither lead actress is a Scientologist.
ReplyDeleteI think this is Jenna elfman scientologist/growing up fisher (show)
ReplyDeleteThe Fosters is on season 2, not brand new. She's supposed to be on a new show, Powers, airing on PlayStation in December. I don't know that any of the actresses with that show are Scientologists, though.
ReplyDeleteThe Mom's not wrong.
ReplyDeleteIsabel marel teen/Jenna elfman/growing up Fisher
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't have any problems with what this mom has done. Good for her for protecting her kid -- I wish more parents, especially in Hollyweird, were like this. I wouldn't want some $ci person shoving that crap at my (nonexistent) kid, and I also wouldn't want my impressionable child exposed to storylines she's not mature enough to handle.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rhysie, not all religions are cults. That's prejudicial to say.
Who is the scientologist on that show though? I don't see anyone who seems to publicly acknowledge it if they are.
ReplyDeleteOMG a mom, who cares about the daughter?? every mom who is not Dina Lohan is an instant control-freak? you're an idiot, enty-intern. #gomom
ReplyDelete@Texshan, I would never tell someone they couldn't/shouldn't practice the religion of their choice. Have at it. I don't see how I'm prejudiced just because I think they're all cults? It's just my personal opinion.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good mother to me.
ReplyDelete@VIP is dean on. This is definitely Bailee Madison. She is set to appear as a series regular in The Good Witch with Catherine Bell (a Scientologist)
ReplyDelete* dead on. Geez. My typing sucks. Can't even blame spellcheck for that.
ReplyDeleteI find this mom a refreshing change of pace. She's not looking the other way while some producer screws her 14 year old. She's not advising on the leaking of a sex tape. She's not allowing the kid to raise herself and act like a little bratty adult. I may not agree with all her religious views but there ought to be far more mothers like this in Hollywood, IMO.
ReplyDeleteYASSSsss
DeleteBeing prejudiced doesn't mean you are actively telling people not to do something, Rhysie. It means you have a negative opinion about an entire group because of a stereotype. Being prejudiced as all ABOUT personal opinions. Say I said I thought all Arabs were terrorists. Wouldn't that be prejudicial? Well, so is your statement that all religions are cults. I agree, some are. But certainly not all of them.
ReplyDeletewhat a dipshit bigot, not all Scientologists are crazy or evil, horrible mother
ReplyDeleteThe Good Witch, Catherine Bell is a Scio.
ReplyDeleteLittle Women/ Catherine Bell
ReplyDeleteThe girl's career though will crash & burn if she keeps mom as her manager. Pro/Dir will deal with it when she under age, but not when she's in her 20's.
ReplyDeleteBest Hollywood mom story ever!! I have an 11 yr old and all her friends know when they come over they do kid things (not glued to electronics) and they love it. As much as the tweener set tries to act like they older, they still are just kids and actually enjoy being allowed to be one when given the chance.
ReplyDeleteYep, here Bailee Madison talks about how religious she is: http://www.iamsecond.com/seconds/bailee-madison/
ReplyDeleteWell @Texshan, it depends on how @MeanieRhysie defines "cult." By some definitions, sure, I can see how "all religions" could fall into that definition.
ReplyDeleteWhether or not it's prejudiced aside, there's no arguing that it's the kind of statement sure to offend a number of people. Maybe that's the intent.
I used to say stuff like that all the time. Now I figure, what's the point? Why offend others if I can help it?

ReplyDelete^5 meanie
ReplyDeleteall religions are cults. YEAH WE SAID IT!
Well, actually Meanie said it first but i stand firmly BEHIND her.
((peeks over meanies shoulder))
LOL Fancy, I hope you're tall cuz I am. :)
Delete@Figgy, I don't deny being a shit-stirrer from time to time, but I didn't mean it to be offensive. :)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteafter seeing figgy's comment I deleted my diatribe but just to restate, in essence many of today's mainstream religions were considered cults in their infancy. Religion is just a cult that went mainstream. However since the advent of TV and movies, and starting in the 1970s, cults have taken on a whole new meaning thanks to Charlie Manson and David Koresh and Jim Jones and CO$.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to CO$ some stereotypes are better earned than others. I think given the CO$ propensity to part Hollywood stars from their money, one could understand her concern. Even if all Scientologists are not continually in recruit mode and are nice people. In fact if Scientologists would renounce their religious status and say CO$ is a life philosophy and not a religion which is exactly what it is and if the CO$ followed the labour laws of the rest of the civilized world, I wouldn't have a problem with any CO$ member.
ReplyDeleteHowever I am sure the kid is smart and this would be a teachable moment. You explain to your child your opinion on Co$, pretty sure this kid is bright enough to figure it all out once informed.
@meanie
ReplyDeletei stand behind u cause im a spineless lil shit...
lol ;^)
Wow I remember seeing her on House. She was the little girl who had Porphyria (I think it was). House was about to amputate her arm when the lightbulb pops on in his Vicodin saturated brain and he turns off the bone saw. Hugh Laurie needs to come back to TV.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to beat a dead horse, but how could saying ALL religions are a cult not be considered offensive to people who are religious in one way or another? "Cult" is a pejorative term for a group whose beliefs are considered abnormal and bizarre (according to Wiki). I'm a Baptist -- nothing abnormal or bizarre goes on during our services. We don't handle snakes, speak in tongues, sacrifice anything, etc. We sing a few songs, pray, listen to a 20-minute message, pass the plate, and that's it. Nothing weird or "cultlike." I leave inspired and feeling better about myself and others.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I think this mom is great. It is her responsibility to control who influences her child, and she's doing the job WAY too many other parents are too damn lazy or greedy to do. So many kids today have no parental guidance at all. Good for her.
Hmmm, but Bailee was on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place.
ReplyDeleteThis is a real BI.
ReplyDeleteA bad mother in hollyweird? That's normal.
A cheater in that world? The same.
Drunkards and junkies? Equally.
A good mother in hollyweird? Rare as a unicorn .
And that sect is a dangerous, poisonous one. The mother is a heretic (protestant) and she is going to hell for it, but she is a good mother on earth.
And by obnoxious sect, I mean scientology (sp), naturally.
ReplyDeleteScientology is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteI can't find anything wrong with what she's done.
ReplyDeleteWizards of Waverly Place and Once Upon a Time on ABC - parent company Disney.
ReplyDeleteSo either it isn't Bailey (who is a great actress) or Enty is not so well versed in the entertainment industry.
Never heard of Bailee, googled her and - who does she remind me of? A little bit Katie Holmes, a little bit Sally Field, maybe Ginnifer Goodwin? Anyway she's cute. I don't blame her mother for trying to keep her age-appropriate and controlling what religious ideas she's exposed to.
ReplyDeleteWe all sit around here asking "where are the parents" of all the child stars out there, and now we have one whose mom is actively involved and advocates for her daughter, yet people are complaining about her? She has to control everything? Hell yes! She's the mother! She wants to keep the Scientology nuts from recruiting her daughter and wants her daughter to have age appropriate roles! Good for her!
ReplyDeleteBailee's mom, Patricia, isn't a former actress. They're just a normal family from Florida.
ReplyDeleteJust to pile on, of course all religions are cults. The only one Truth is that there is no one Truth.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Cee Kay! Well said.
ReplyDeleteAnd (my two cents) whenever someone asks for money, it's gone from religion to business. "Passing plates" or, whatever anyone wants to call it.
Oopsy_Daisy: Actually Bailee's mom Patricia Riley IS a former TV commercial actress. And one of her other daughters, Kaitlin Riley, did some acting and is married to a soap opera actor. So this IS an acting family. And yes this blind is about Bailee, the first show mentioned is The Good Witch starring Catherine Bell (a Scientologist). The other show is probably The Fosters on ABC Family (Disney owned).
ReplyDeleteEcua, how else are churches supposed to keep the lights on? Pay for missions? Help the needy? It's ridiculous to pretend that churches, or anything else, can function without money. Get serious.
ReplyDeleteAriel Winters? Is that her name?
ReplyDeleteReligion is the worst virus mankind has ever known. It has brought more war, death and misery than all other diseases combined. I feel for this person. Having a crazed religious parent can really f*ck you up.
ReplyDeleteCult is defined:
ReplyDeletea system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.
a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.
Tell me again how all religions don't fall into this category?
Her IMBD page has her at 15 years old. Her mom is her legal guardian and needs to be involved in a big way, especially when it comes to Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteMy Niece has just started modelling at 16 and her parents are equally protective of her and with good reason.
Go mom.
More food for thought, from the Cult Information Centre.
ReplyDelete"What is a Cult?
Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics:
1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society.
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma.
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds recruit people.
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society."
I wouldn't say all organised religion fits all five criteria above, but obviously this debate is about which definition people accept and which they choose to believe. Which is gloriously ironic.
Good on the protective mom. I may not think being an evangelical Christian is necessarily a good thing, but I can't fault her for insisting her child is kept away from bad influences and inappropriate story lines. Maybe that kid will actually be one of the few actors in Hollywood who ends up with her head on straight.
