Before there was Lindsay Lohan, there was another movie actress who did many of the same things Lindsay has done. Our actress once reached A list, which is something Lindsay probably won't ever do at this point. Our actress had a very quick and bright flame and then crashed and burned because she has no real acting talent. She still enjoys A+ list name recognition, but her acting resume is probably a C+ at this point. Our actress didn't start off quite as young as Lindsay, but made a name for herself beginning in her 20's. Our actress spent a lot of time on the casting couch. Lots. It was the only way she got any roles at all because she is that bad. She lucked into her biggest role and has tried not to have sex for parts any longer. She will have sex for other reasons though or things she wants. She loves things. Like Lindsay, our actress would steal anything not tied down. She was famous for never returning any item of jewelry or clothing that she wore during a photo shoot or on a movie set. It got so bad that when she walked in a huge event she had to buy everything herself because no one would give her anything.. It is still considered to be one of the bigger fashion fails of all time. Like Lindsay, our actress enjoys some drugs. She had to have a nose reconstruction because of all the coke she snorted. She tries to limit herself to pills and booze and pot now. She has a lot of health problems for a woman of her still fairly young age because of her past drug abuse.

ReplyDeleteI remember a Vanity Fair interview wherein Sharon went on and on about being a Mensa member. She then proceeded to say that Dylan Thomas was her favorite Irish poet.

Her biggest fashion fail was never returning/stealing all the stuff designers loaned her. Now she has to pay for everything.

ReplyDeleteThis is totally true. My first PR job in LA, the office manager used to be a huge party girl back in the day, she slept with David Cassidy when she was a teenager. She told us stories about partying and doing tons of coke with Sharon Stone.

Stone's Gap outfit at the Oscars is usually considered a major fashion moment. The outfit was classy and elegant, and people lauded her for her resourcefulness. It went over well and I've seen that outfit mentioned on several E-type fashion specials in a glowing way.

ReplyDeleteShe had a brain hemorrhage or stroke or something years ago, and had to have surgery and a long recovery period. I don't think she's an awful actress, not a great one, but not as bad as portrayed.

ReplyDeleteShe was absolutely gorgeous - luminous - in her prime. And looked pretty darned good into her 50's. Can still look gorgeous today, with makeup and lighting.
But I always had the impression she was a raging bitch.
I heard she went to Davos and bullied all the rich guys in the room to pledge for mosquito nets or something ... most of them never paid, no one knows if the nets were ever delivered. Got the impression it was more about her showing off than actual doing her due diligence and doing good for anybody. All show, no follow-through.

Stone has three fairly young children, all boys, all adopted. Don't see a lot of them. Hope it isn't a 'Mommy Dearest' situation in the making.
ReplyDeleteShe has an excellent figure for a woman her age, even more impressive because she never seems to work out, or at least isn't pictured doing so.
According to IMDB, Stone is actually working on a TV movie called Agent X, in which she plays a U.S. Vice President.
Wikipedia says Stone has admitted she never really was a member of Mensa after all.
In terms of the fashion fail, maybe Enty was talking about Sharon Stone wearing her husband's dress shirt to the Oscars? She paired it with a long fancy skirt. It didn't look great but it wasn't an EPIC fashion fail.

ReplyDeleteAs much as I wouldn't call her " flawless" or anything that extreme, I would agree sharon stone is a decent actress. She is absolutely not in the same camp as lindsay Lohan in that regard. Also plenty of actresses keep stuff they are give for awards ceremonies and plenty sleep around for parts. When sharon stone started out it was probably the only way to get decent parts. Plenty of them do coke as well. I'm not quite sure why she is being singled out here to be honest. The same stuff could probably be said for most a list actresses of her age, to one degree or another. I also suspect when she wore her own stuff to awards ceremonies it's because she wanted to...designers are known fame whores and they would rush to dress her for the small price of the outfit and she can well afford to buy her own designer frock. It's not like she couldn't afford a shirt or a jumper and was forced to wear her husbands shirt or a gap sweater. She also had nothing that would constitute one of the bigger fashion fails of all time.

Sharon Stone definitely has/had limited range as an actress. Basic Instinct was so campy it didn't really call for acting, per se.
ReplyDeleteShe was dreadful in Sliver. With a good director she can perform adequately but she's basically playing above her pay grade in most roles. The thing about her is, maybe a lot of people sleep around for roles in Hollywood but Sharon Stone is GORGEOUS. She truly does have movie star looks.
Both of those fashion fail photographs look great. I wouldn't choose to wear either ensemble but she's so beautiful - and has a great body for clothes - that she pulls them both off.
I also think that about 90% of the time when she's at an event, or on the red carpet, her fashion style is impeccable.
Yes, many stars get styled, but you have to think something of their own fashion sense comes through, and a lot of them consistently look like fashion victims despite access to stylists, hair, makeup, borrowed clothes and accessories.
Yet Sharon Stone almost always looks great.
And I heard she used to cut her own hair.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Lohan has proven herself as an adult actress to be able to say she has " a ton of talent". Yes she was a good child actress, passable in the bratty teen role, but I can't say she has proven herself in anything of note.

She was believable as Meryl Streep's daughter in A Prairie Home Companion, directed by Robert Altman (who was monitored by Paul Thomas Anderson), and she holds her own next to people like Kevin Kline, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, and Tommy Lee Jones.
ReplyDeleteEnty should know by now that success has little to do with talent, and that his opinion about somebody as an individual doesn't necessarily mean that the person in question is untalented and doesn't deserve any success because of so.
The fact is that there are many talented actors in the business who don't find work because they didn't have a breakout part in a film, or they lack some charisma on screen. I don't doubt that there are a dozen actresses who would have been as fine as Lohan in A Prairie Home Companion, but Lohan was good in it anyway.
Elizabeth Taylor hated her when she became a spokeswoman for AMFAR The reason was that Sharon's expensive demands of free everything (hotel rooms, food, clothes, jewelry, other outrageous perks, first class travel, entourage) were totally out of control and that they make very little money after funding her. She is now making a career of being a charity spokeswoman.

DeleteI loooove Sharon Stone. She is always my example as an actress aging gracefully with the kind of plastic surgery that you can't see, and she looks fabulous on and off the red carpet. I love her style so much! It's refreshing to see any celeb with their own taste and even better when she always looks amazing! Ok except for that shredded black dress abomination from thirty years ago someone linked to up top, but I still prefer actresses who go with their own style.

Passable skills + enormous ambition is how you get ahead in show business, and most other businesses.
This reminds me of that story of a celebrity (Ellen?) showing an actress around her house and a watch going missing. The details are hazy now, but at the time everyone presumed the culprit was Lindsay Lohan.

ReplyDeleteTotally disagree. Very harsh and no reason for it. Lindsay has no real talent but Stone is. She was great in Casino and BI. She can act. Very unfair to characterize her as a no talent. And she's gorgeous, which Lohan isn't. Ridiculous to say she'd never get a job otherwise being beautiful and talented.
