Blind Item #8
This married and good looking, aging, but definitely not old A list mostly movie actor who is foreign born and an Academy Award winner has a serious illness, but refuses to discuss it with anyone. Apparently he is not going to tabloid it and look for covers and is just going to be prim and proper and let everyone guess why his health is suddenly failing.
DDLewis?
ReplyDeleteFirth
ReplyDeleteI sure hope not
DeletePierce? Colin F? God forbid either.
ReplyDeletePrim and proper gives me this person is English
ReplyDeleteJeremy irons
ReplyDeleteYep. Firth has been looking pretty sickly lately.
ReplyDeleteViggo, Clive Owen??
ReplyDeleteThankfully Viggo's not married.

DeleteOh I missed the Oscar winner part. But yay it's not Mr Bean. I think the migraine wins today, disregard.
DeletePlease not Firth or DDL......
ReplyDeleteFirth
ReplyDeleteWho are foreign born Academy winners? Daniel Day Lewis, Clive Owen, Jean Dujardin, Russell Crow, Roberto Benigni, Geoffrey Rush, Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons, Ben Kingsley.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the disease is
ReplyDeleteHold on Derek I'll just get out the medical dictionary and look up disease of foreign born academy winners. Brb.
DeleteViolet...HA!
DeleteJeremy Irons has ALWAYS looked sickly
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought Firth. Say it isn't so!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Javier?
ReplyDeleteIt says Academy Award WINNER so that knocks out Pierce, Viggo or Clive Owen.
ReplyDeleteIt says "aging but definitely not old" - Jeremy Irons is 68 so that probably knocks him out.
Colin Firth has wrapped 2 films, has 1 in pre-production and another 1 announced. That's a lot of work for someone who is seriously ill.
Daniel Day Lewis doesn't have anything announced, although it's not unusual for him to take years between projects.
I don't think anyone would necessarily consider Geoffrey Rush, Anthony Hopkins or Ben Kingsley, Javier Bardem or Jim Broadbent "good looking".
Christian Bale has 3 films in post-production and 1 rumored to be in pre-production. Could it be him?
Hi, First Time poster here!
ReplyDeleteColin Firth has lost a lot of weight recently. Claims it was for a movie role, but who knows?
Bale is 40. I don't think that's "aging." Firth fits the best so far.
ReplyDeleteAgreed irons always gaunt, so be difficult to tell and 68 is old I guess....firth working a ton...frightened to say..I think DDL fits well.he is very reserved, so I get the prim part too
ReplyDeleteThen DDL and Michelle Pfeifer need to film the last scene of the Age of Innocence together before it's too late. They are actually the age of the oldsters they portrayed in the movie now!
ReplyDeleteDaniel Day Lewis
ReplyDeleteAccording to the internet Colin F made comments about a check up for prostate cancer in 2011. However, he would have been 50 and tests are often routine when you reach that mark.
ReplyDeleteSean Connery.
ReplyDeleteNo one guessed Gary Oldman yet so I'll throw him in the ring
ReplyDeleteMy bad. That's cuz he's only a nominee
Delete@Lady Heisenberg
ReplyDeleteGary Oldman is NOT oscar winner
Which is a crime.
DeleteAmen to that! He has none, yet Three 6 Mafia do.
DeleteHugh Jackman
ReplyDeleteBut prim n proper sounds like Firth
I think Javier is handsome but his twin Jeffery Dean Morgan is hotter.
ReplyDeleteEspecially when he's holding a toddler on the trunk of an Impala.
DeleteBut I can't see JB described as prim and proper so scratch that.
ReplyDeleteIt better not be Firth!
ReplyDeleteFirth initially lost weight to play the character in A Single Man and said he felt so good he was making an effort to stay at that weight. Not sure how that is going.
ReplyDeleteAre those foreign Oscar winners in Best Actor vs Best Supporting categories or could have won the award in a different category?
Tina M - he may have said that but it doesn't make sense. ASM was a 2009 release, presumably shot that year or 2008. His weight loss was noted in 2013. Why wasn't he thin in photos from 2010/2011/2012?
ReplyDeleteFirth lost the weight for The Railway Man, he played a prisoner of war.
ReplyDeleteIn a pic with his trainer for 2013, CF doesn't look good at all.

Sads.
Oh, god, CFirth was my first thought and I don't want it to be anyone, but especially not him.
ReplyDeleteI heard the same, lost weight for The Railway Man, probably needed to stay in shape for the spy-type movie (Kingsmen? I forget the name). I remember his wife commenting on Twitter last autumn that he was looking forward to eating whatever he wanted at Christmas.
I hear he's on Letterman tonight. Might have been last night.
(His wife was commenting jokingly about his looking forward to ditching the super-strict diet for the holidays.)
ReplyDelete(...and he's on Letterman tonight, 17th July.)
ReplyDelete@Bubbles, Clive Owen did win the Oscar, for Closer.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I don't think he's the answer to the blind.
Morgan Freeman "Dollar Baby" beat Clive Owen "Closer." Clive has no Oscar to date.
ReplyDeleteGary Oldman SHOULD have one by now dagnabbit.
It's simply incomprehensible that Oldman has been nominated only once!
Delete@Topper, you're absolutely right and I'm absolutely wrong about Clive. Bugger, I hate it when that happens.
DeleteChristoph Waltz.
ReplyDeleteMolls said...
ReplyDeleteSean Connery.
Connery is not old being 83? What't the life expectancy where you live? 300?
Oldman is the best actor today, a modern Laurence Olivier. Sadly he is not a liberal and the douches at the academy will never recognize him as he deserves, even less after the Mel Gibson thing.
bardem is a goddamn cromagnon, at least physically. And dumb as hell. Many females think he is hot. I recomend those people to go to a Prehistoric museum to see the recreations of cavemen as if they went to a porn show, they won't be dissappointed (sp).
Oldman hasn't won because he doesn't openly suck up and campaign like most of the nominees do now. It has nothing to do with his politics, it has to do with his lack of desire to pander to people. There are a lot of people who respect his work but dislike him because he's an addict and he can be kind of difficult and rude.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is Firth. He lost a lot of weight for one role, then he got a trainer for another one because he was doing the 'sex symbol with a younger love interest' thing (too lazy to look it up, I think its coming out this Fall). Daniel Day Lewis seems like a better fit because he's so private anyway. He basically disappeared between the time he won his Oscar for Lincoln and the night he had to come back and present at this year's awards. That's just his thing.
I believe ive read sean connery has alzheimers, so not him. Paul mccartney doesnt fit acting thing. Well whoever it is, im sorry for them and they have every right to their privacy.
ReplyDeleteRussell Crowe
ReplyDeleteAging good looking married foreign born A list actor? Colin Firth or DDL
ReplyDeletePrim and proper???? You mean, keep his health matters private and handle himself with self respect and dignity? OK. That, too.
ReplyDelete'Prim and proper' suggests 'Pride and Prejudice', which Colin Firth was famous in the UK for on TV (and later played another Darcy in Bridget Jones).
ReplyDeleteHe pulled out of the Paddington Bear movie recently.
And he's in Enty's random photos with the tag 'Colin Firth looks good here'.
Jean Dujardin?
ReplyDeleteHugh Jackman
ReplyDeleteIt can't be Colin Firth--- no one would be insuring him to work on all those projects.
ReplyDeleteRoberto Benigni? Actor, director, writer--- TV and films
2 Academy Awards.
I think it's Firth. Sad.
ReplyDeleteCould this be why Colin Firth pulled out of "Paddington" for no apparent reason?
ReplyDeleteFirth looked most excellent on Letterma last nite, Viggo was born in NYC, Irons always was skinny and dark circley but still hot.
ReplyDeleteRush
