Today's Blind Items - She Ticked Off The Wrong People

Do you want to know how you can go from an A list mostly movie actress who everyone calls the next big thing and has directors lining up to work with you and then have it all gone in an instant? And when I mean all gone, I mean it was all gone. There is no more working for her at all. No straight to on demand. No guest spot in television. She went from everything to nothing because she ticked off the wrong people. There was no one that was left unscathed. Our actress hit her box office peak in one of the biggest movies of all time. It was also the beginning of the end and she wasn't invited back for the sequel. She was that toxic. She slept with directors and producers of both sexes and then she would talk bad about them to the next person she slept with. She was a pain to work with on every set she ever stepped foot on and was always late and usually half in the bag. She had really large weight fluctuations and whenever anyone would cross her about any of her issues she would pull out her phone and call one of the people she was sleeping with and threaten them if they didn't do something about the person giving her grief. It was as if the entire world banded together to keep her out of any other movies and no one has ever gone back on it. There was one brief attempt by our actress to mount a comeback in a film about a half decade ago after a five year absence, but the movie was bought by a company specifically so it would never see the light of day.

  12. There was a documentary made about Debra Winger, "What happened to Debra Winger". Basically she left HW as she got older, it had a great interview with Ebert in it. HW doesn't have good roles for women, & it gets worse as they age.

  13. Ok the way to get this is to locate the biggest movie which obviously had a sequel and the chick was recast.

    Megan Fox?

  14. It's the major weight fluctuations thing that gets me...Amanda Bynes?

  20. Linda Fiorentino? I don't know that she was ever A list, but she was in Men in Black (but not the sequel) and Dogma. Was in a movie in 2009, but nothing after and the most recent movie before that was in 2002.

    1. @Karen and @Candyland, Linda Fiorentino seems like the best guess here. She really was the next big thing and went nowhere pretty quickly. Rumors of being difficult. Not cast in Men in Black sequel despite having a prominent role in the first. Some weight issues in more recent years, it seems. And she made some obscure little film with Drea de Matteo in 2009. Only problem is her last film role before that was 7 years prior, not 5. Then again, Enty isn't always exact.

    2. Ooh I like this. I liked her

    3. Linda Fiorentino made the mistake of being married to James Cameron when he wanted to be married to Suzy Amis. That's how she became considered "difficult" on set

      Delete
    4. @TTM you're thinking of Linda Hamilton, but there's another one who doesn't work enough considering her talent. I don't think she fits this as well as Fiorentino, though

  23. Debra Winger told her father she was going to Hollywood to be a movie star and he told her she wasn't pretty enough to be a movie star. She said, "Well I'll be an actress, then."

  33. Oooh ooh ooh - from a review of her last movie (Once More with Feeling) on IMDB:

Don't waste your time unless you need to get to sleep, and want to see how Linda gained like 50 lbs.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yup, this sounds like Linda Fiorentino. She was fantastic in The Last Seduction which had everyone in HW clamoring after her, but her divas ways (mostly) killed the career momentum she gained from that movie.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @TTM, Linda Fiorentino wasn't married to James Cameron. That was Linda Hamilton from Terminator.

    1. There's another one I always wondered about. She supposedly didn't return because she had to care for her ill mother. I think she now or recently has owned her own car dealership. She really did disappear after the first BTTF, and I don't know who in her right mind would turn down the sequel. But she appeared at the anniversary event with the cast and director. I don't think there were any feelings of animosity there.

  38. I loved Vision Quest, Linda was great as Carla.
Dogma is in my top 10 movie list, though I didn't know it was she playing Bethany.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, this has to be Linda Fiorentino. Last Seduction was huge for her, then she did Jade which wasn't so good, and I guess MIB but not the sequel. And where is she now? No where.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Men in Black did make some bucks

    ReplyDelete
  41. TTM - it was Linda Hamilton (Terminator) who was married to James Cameron, not Linda Florentino. I recall on one of the commentaries, I believe Kevin Smith for Dogma where he trashes LF, that she also had some "acting" problems. Notably she was fansatic on the first take but rapidly went downhill. Often scenes need multiple takes and generally there are two types of actors who work: those who can "match" their prior takes (loved by all directors on a schedule) and those who offer up a different "interpretation" with each take (loved ny arty Directors). Someone who does neither is a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Zach, just read imdb and I agree, Claudia Wells doesn't fit. Always wondered about her recasting too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Top Gun. Kelly. McG___. Mc Ginnes?

She def gained weight and I "think" she was a partier. And didn't she turn out to be in a lesbian relationship?? So she'd sleep with both sexes as mentioned..

  48. Linda Hamilton is bipolar (which could make her "difficult") but she continues to work. Nothing huge but fairly consistent. Also, she was involved in more than one of the "Terminator" movies.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Shelly Long fits. The blonde who was married to Clint Eastwood, Sandra Locke also fits.

Linda Hamilton is bipolar and took a break because of it, not because she was blacklisted.

  54. Years ago when I was sick with Crohns I had my hospital room next to a "VIP" room. I coul hear this woman screaming the nastiest things to the nursing staff and a lot of "don't you know who I am" being thrown about. I asked one of the nurses who was it, she couldn't tell me for hippa reasons. But one night I went into the hall with my iv pole and found Linda Fiorentino in the next room. She also had Crohns apparently which, as I sadly know, can cause major weight fluctuations.

    Just my story....

  55. I'm with Karen. This sounds like Linda Fiorentino. According to my honey Kevin Smith, she is a heinous bitch and demanded he buy her a car using the already sparse budget when she went to work on "Dogma". I was sad to hear the stories, because she is very likable on screen. Loved her in "After Hours".

Kelly McGuiness, I might have misspelled that but your get the point.

*reaches in and grabs a personal story*

Kelly lived in Key West back in the mid 90's, she owned a restaurant near Duval St. My housemate at the time, Brandy, used to go to Kellys' house and babysit her child/children...I can't remember anything BUT nice things being said about her back then...I think this was around '96

  62. Linda Fiorentino's last movie Once More with Feeling (2009) was a Sundance Selection in 2009.

Although she does fit, having your movie go to Sundance isn't exactly keeping it from the light of day.

  64. I think Linda F just got old. She had a good 10-15 year run.

Sticking with my Thora Birch guess. American Beauty made her a huge star. She was taking meetings with the likes of DeNiro. She was noticeably bigger in Ghost World (luved Ghost World) then her career just petered out. Rumor was it was her ex porn star father who was the problem. "Winter of Frozen Dreams" was supposed to ber her comeback. Got lots of hype cuz she had lots of sex scenes. Then the movie failed to get distribution. So, yeah. Thora Birch

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sean Young did try to make a comeback about five years ago, then sabotaged it with her charming appearance at one of the awards shows. She was always cray cray, and James Woods can attest to that. I think it is her or Debra Winger, who was also known for being difficult.

    He seems pretty thin-skinned.

was fiorentino ever A? and 'men in black' was THAT big a movie??

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't understand how any actress could allow herself to get so bad that an entire industry hates her. It's so stupid.

Anyway, I agree it's Linda F. She was beautiful and talented and could have been Jolie before Jolie. I wonder if she has regrets?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've met chicks like this. One chick kept bad mouthing all these dudes who "fucked her over". By the 3rd or 4th one I realized they were all dudes who fucked her, and I realized that I didn't want to be on that list. Only thing that is more of a tell to run away is when a broad talks about all her exes who called her crazy.

    ReplyDelete

Whoever said Linda Fiorentino is a genius. Men in Black was her peak, and she was nixed for the sequel in favor of Lara Flynn Boyle. Her last movie was "Once More With Feeling" in 2009, but it debuted at Sundance and it looks like it died there: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1259580/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_9. Before that was Dogma in 2002. Weight fluctuations: http://content6.flixster.com/rtactor/28/62/28624_ori.jpg

She really fucked a good career. Guess she was more like her Last Seduction character than we knew.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Megan Fox? No. She was in the Transformer's sequel, she's been active (like This is 40, Jonah Hex, Jennifer's Body) and she's set for TMNT.

Linda F is a great guess.

Linda Fiorentino looked all set to return in the sequel to the 1997 hit sci-fi comedy "Men in Black." After all, her character Dr. Laurel Weaver had taken over from Tommy Lee Jones' secret government agent K as business and romantic partner to Will Smith's J. But Fiorentino, who has a reputation for being a difficult actress to work with, was simply dropped from the sequel, allegedly because the cast and crew did not want to work with her again. Smith's character dismisses her absence by saying that Laurel had returned to her job as a deputy medical examiner.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I wonder what would have happened if she had gotten that Oscar many people felt she deserved for "The Last Seduction". She wasn't eligble for nomination because the movie was shown on cable first. It's too bad, I really liked her and found her much more interesting that Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock.
