Michael Jace Called His Father-In-Law After Shooting

Can you imagine what it must have been like for April Jace's father to get a call from Michael Jace stating that he had just killed the man's daughter. The call lasted three minutes and the father-in-law was called before Michael Jace called 911 to report the shooting. So, in the immediate aftermath of killing your wife in front of your kids, the first thing he did was to call his father-in-law? The 911 call of Jace calling his father-in-law was released yesterday and I can't even bring myself to listen to it. I don't want to listen to someone telling someone they just killed their daughter. I still can't believe he did it in front of the kids, but am thankful for whatever miracle kept Jace from killing the kids. I think in a lot of circumstances that is what would have happened.

    The 911 call is NOT of Jace calling 911, it's the father in law calling 911.

    The three-minute recording released by the Los Angeles Fire Department did not include the separate 911 call reportedly made by Michael Jace.

    I'll give the murderer this - he called the father in law to say he'd shot his wife and they should come get the kids.

    Why do these things even get released so soon? It's voyeuristic to want to listen to it. Who wants to hear some poor father's distress.

      Why do these things get released at all, let alone so soon. I fail to see how this information is in the public interest. I fail to see that the public has a "right" to hear this.

    If he was going to kill the babies, he'd have done it in front of her, before he killed her. It's usually done as the ultimate way of getting back at a woman, or preventing another man from having anything to do with them.

    He may have called her daddy to let him know he'd be getting the kids.

    A really sad situation. He seemed like such a great guy.

    Tyr its the media who request the tape. Under Freedom of Information Act, 911 calls are considered a public record. And since all 911 calls are recorded...

    We have no choice but to release them.

    Where did the bullet hit her? Because he called for help right away makes me think that it was a warning shot, probably meant to hit her but not kill her. Just a guess, I don't know the history or anything else.

    @Dragon, it was reportedly over money, and this wasn't Jace's first rodeo. He abused and threatened to kill his first wife over visitation rights. The sad part of this story is that April (the second wife) defended him and called the first wife a bitter liar. :(

    There are times when the media needs to have some cooth and think about the families of the victims. It really pisses me off when I turn on the news and see a damn reporter standing on the lawn of a family when they have just experienced a loss. Then to play gut wrenching audio for all the world to hear just because they can? Sorry but I hope some of those bastards get a pineapple shoved up their ass by Hitler in hell.

    All I can say is thank God he didn't kill the children. Although...they are going to have a tough road ahead. I hope they get good counseling and have a supportive family.

    Luckily I got this advice way back when I was young enough and the bad stuff was just starting. After Daniel Pearl was executed, Howard Stern watched the video and I will never forget him describing how awful it was, he regretted watching it, he could never unsee it and I'm pretty sure he said he would never watch anything like that again. I feel bad for journalists who have to view the horrible stuff and soften it for us.
