Jonah Hill Has A New Movie And Dropped A Homophobic Slur

When you have a new movie coming out like Jonah Hill does and you have a million press appearances forthcoming to discuss said movie, you like the questions to be about the movie. Well, over the weekend Jonah assured himself that the movie would not be the only topic of discussion. Jonah was being trailed by two paps and one of them commented on Jonah's shorts. He kept at it and was probably hoping for some kind of response but didn't get it. He turned away after saying have a good day and that is when Jonah said, "Suck my d**k you fa**ott. Yeah, so not sure where that came from. Maybe he went to the Alec Baldwin school of charm. Jonah is not the nicest person in the world, but he has never lashed out at the paps quite like this. You will notice that he and Brad Pitt don't speak any longer after what Jonah did at Brad's house. He never stays with a woman very long because he treats them all like crap. Unless you can do something for Jonah he is probably not going to be very friendly. He tries to come across as friendly and just an average guy, but he isn't. I don't know whether he is homophobic or just was having a bad day, but when the words come out of your mouth so easily, it's a fair bet that you have used them before. If you get in a fight with someone, is that the word that is going to come out of your mouth? Was Jonah upset because a guy commented on his shorts? Did that make him uncomfortable? To be fair, the shorts were pretty hideous. If you want to watch the video you can click here to go to TMZ.

  11. um, do you even see what the writing is on these movies that he stars in? and you are getting on him for this?

  21. Dudes, we don't say faggot or retard any more, OK? You'd think Jonah's PR people would have pounded that into his brain. You'd think that would be the topic of a full day workshop that anyone with a starring role in a movie would be required to attend. Just like how I have to go to CPR refresher training every year - just part of the job. There are plenty of tried and true expletives that are still okie-dokie: asshole, dipshit, any variant of the "F word". I'm cracking up, thinking about the workshop facilitator breaking the room up into groups to do some "appropriate curse words" exercises.

  24. Well, thankfully it's still TOTALLY cool to make fun of his weight, right?? Which most people do on most Jonah Hill posts. Thank gawd for that still acceptable form of shaming or all those poor paps would have to go find some new way to try and get a reaction.

That show "Just Shoot Me" had a pretty good episode like that. David Spade's character met Mark Hamill and lobbed about 500 Star Wars questions his way, wouldn't leave him alone. So Hamill started doing the same, showing up, following, driving Spade's character insane. Good stuff!

  47. It's always interesting what sort of pejorative terms people are willing to overlook...and from whom.

Homophobic slurs generally have no consequences for the user. Racist terms are more complicated.

Paula Deen, an old Southern woman, admits to using ni**er once, 30 years ago, and her career is over. The disgusting Justin Bieber is shown on video using the same term a couple of years ago as a joke, repeatedly, and TV commentators rush to his defense. Jason Kennedy still hasn't managed to dislodge his tongue from Bieber's sphincter

    ReplyDelete
  48. There is no way Paula Deen only used the N word once. That is just not a word you randomly use. It's either in your vocabulary or it's not.

  49. It's amusing how far people go to protect their right to use words they know hurt others due to a long history of negative connotation, simply because the idea of their "right" to do so is more important to them than the feelings of people who are tormented by those very words. A++ kudos fantastic human beings all around. Do you have black friends?

If you wouldn't say "retarded" in ANY context to the face of a child with Down syndrome, you consciously know it's a horrible word. I suggest you grow up, drop your self-involvement and speak like an intelligent person in the 21st century. Jesus.

Who cares if it's a word you grew up using? It's not 20th century anymore. Our intelligence and access to information has evolved, why haven't you?

  55. At the risk of sounding too Intro to Soc when his anger flares up he goes for the predictable default, sexuality. Insults to a man 's masculinity or a woman's virtue (with weight a close second). To say that isn't rooted in homophobia and sexism is just inaccurate. Of course it is. As a society we value masculine men and have a problem with promiscuous women. We penalize anything that deviates from that. Do I think everyone that uses fag or slut is homophobic or sexist? No. But let's not kid each other from where the origins of these insults come from and why they are the 1st out of people's mouths.

When they come for paragraphs will any of you take up arms to defend them? When books that make people butthurt are pulled from the shelves and burned in the streets will you all be dumbfounded or sit there with torches and pitchforks, patting each other on the back for striking another blow against free speech and butthurtedness?

It is a slippery slope and I believe we should make our Maginot Line at words, so it never gets to gasoline and lighters at Barnes&Noble. Much like the Truman Doctrine preached containment of Communism, we need to contain censorship, before the Thought Police start implanting chips and carrying out door to door executions. Look how far electricity has come in 100years, censorship has the ability to move 10x as fast, because there is little infrastructure investment needed. And censorship has been around since there were people, it moves about the speed of a slug stuck in tar. It is going very much in the opposite direction, actually, swear words and nudity and the like are all over the mainstream these days. If you were to follow the trend of censorship, you would see a huge decline, but still the same number that feel like PC is taking over. Like they thought it the 70s.

And while we're on the topic, why is "retarded" off limits, but words like "cretin", " imbecile ", and "moron", which have the same history -basically, different terms for various mental disabilities or degrees of mental disability that are obsolete as medical terminology but still used at insults- these words are still OK? Doesn't make sense.

    2. @LowKey excellent point regarding words like imbecile and dumb. Unless I get bored or distracted (yay ADHD), I'll be back with either a good explanation or concession.

It did make me think about 'cunt' and 'dick.' But the others are anatomically-specific and therefore only reference a specific gender. I was in VagMon, so I should know the entomology of 'cunt,' but I've never reacted in any way to it so the idea of "reclaiming cunt" just didn't impact me.

Then of course there's bitch, also gender specific due to it's original definition, though it has evolved and is pretty commonly used with multiple meanings. And asshole theoretically should have universal application as we all have assholes, yet is commonly applied to men (and less commonly towards groups of people i.e. "You are all assholes").

However, I post all of this on my phone so I'm going to let someone else handle that debate should they so chose. I'm already eyeing my kindle and considering saying fuck it, advocacy quota met for the day lol.
