Gabriel Aubry Gets $16K A Month From Halle Berry

Yesterday a judge signed off on a settlement agreement between Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry. For the next 12 years Halle has to pay Gabriel $16K a month in child support and also has to pay him $115K in back support. Oh, and to top things off she has to pay for all his attorney fees. That is a nice amount of money for Gabriel who will earn almost $200K a year for simply taking care of his child half the time. He is not having to pay for school or insurance or any kind of child care so he probably doesn't have to work very much over the next decade to make himself a comfortable living. It is not like he is that much in demand so he better make sure he saves as much as he can before Nahla turns 18. Halle also had to promise that Olivier wouldn't beat the crap out of Gabriel anymore. That incident seems like forever ago. Oh, or when Halle said she wanted to move to Paris, which of course means she wouldn't have been able to shoot her new television show.

    He can't work as a model any more - no one would look at the clothes, only him, and the x% of the population on Halle's side wouldn't want to buy the product. (Personally, I don't want to buy any products Halle is selling, and I was once a fan.)

    I don't believe Gabriel has much education, but now he's got 12 years to train for some other type of work.

      @TTM Oh, I agree with you that he looks great. But there's too much backstory that distracts from the product I'm trying to sell. Mel Gibson doesn't get many endorsements these days either - not to compare the two men's characters, but to make the point that if a celebrity makes some of the potential purchasers angry, they're not going to be booked for many jobs.

      I would say this is particularly true of products being sold to women. In discussing Tom Cruise's box office problems with various male sci-fi fans over the weekend, I was struck by the fact that they had no idea that anything was going on/had gone on in his personal life. Whereas on the female-centered blogs, that's big news. Tom Cruise will not be booked for any sponsorships anytime soon.

      @TTM I dunno. I think there are people who call him a golddigger, and Halle supporters (both of them) who think he mistreated their girl. Remember she accused him of being a racist during their custody spat.

      At any rate, if I saw him modelling in a magazine, I'd think 'There's Halle Berry's ex. I wonder how he's doing these days. I wonder how their daughter is doing." And pay no attention to whatever it is he was selling.

      Halle wanted a good looking sperms donor to make a beautiful baby and she treated him as such. Thought she could just throw him away and order him in and out of Nahla life as she pleased because she had the money but courts didn't see it this way and Gabriel not as dumb as he looks. Just wait till she has to start paying Olivier because he does not make what she makes either.

      He actually works about as much as your average working male model. Male models typically work - and earn - less than female models. His income earnings from the year this settlement was based on was around $200K which is actually a very good living for most models. Not everyone can be a VS angel. So he may not be movie star rich (doubt Olivier is either at this point) but it's not like he's unemployable.

    A settlement means both parties agree.

    And "receiving $200k per year for simply taking care of his child" - it's a kid. In the spotlight because of her famous parents. Her crazy a** parents. I'm guessing not all of that money is going toward "Daddy & Me" classes as much as it going toward behavioral therapy to cope with crazy a** parents. But who knows.

    And yes this guy can def keep working. They have the older gentlemen modeling evening wear like tuxes and such. Or as powerful businessmen in some ad. Male models have a much longer shelf life.

    I agree, there is a cost associated with looking after this little girl, from where she lives to, to what school she attends, to what security is required and so on. It won't be cheap. Plus why should she live cheap? Her mother is a multi millionaire and worth an estimated 70 million. 200 k a year is nothing compared to that.

    Ps, I can see why olivier wanted to beat the crap out of him, bit of the old green eyed monster.

    I get a little peeved when I read about how both parents are screwed up. What did Aubry do wrong? Assert his paternal rights? He did nothing wrong.

    I'm shocked that she got half visitation. It's obvious she threw every bit of mud at him that she could come up with.

    Halle is a professional victim who blames the men in her relationships for her inability to live a decent life.

    In my opinion.

    Halle put all this in place herself. She insisted hos home wasn't safe, and not of the standard she expects for her child.
    He was made to upgrade on her say so, so she pays.
    The paparazzi are dangerous and harmful to the child, so she pays for the security.
    She tried to alienate the child from the consistent relationship with her father. Courts don't look kindly on that. So she pays.
    She thought he would be a deadbeat and walk away. She didn't bet on him being a good Dad and actually loving the kid.
    In an equal society the parent who earns more helps support the child with the parent who doesn't.

And i love Nahla beccause she always looks so happy and full of life! Always laughing, running and talking animatedly. She seems delightful.

    Looking at the last pictures of nahlia, and I know it's hard to predict at that age, but if nothing goes wrong, she should grow up to me a very pretty if not beautiful woman. However you can't really tell till after the gawky teenage years are over, but she's a pretty child and she is growing up out of the public eye.

    Not a tax expert but my understanding is that child support is not tax deductible. In other words HB has to pay in after-tax dollars (i.e. has to earn $300K, pay $100K taxes and give $200K to GA). He doesn't have to pay taxes on the $200K.

Nahla always looks really happy when ever she's photographed with her Dad. She doesn't look all that happy when she is with Halle. I'm sure it won't be long until she is fighting with Oliver over custody of their baby.

    Iman also had a plus-size daughter but she had a gastric band put in and dropped most of the weight. I read about her just recently.

    Anyway, Halle was a fool not to use a sperm donor. You really can't count on saying, "Okay, we made the baby, now go away and let me raise it by myself" to a boyfriend, which apparently was Halle's master plan. Not too smart.

    I don't believe Gabriel will ever see this much money. Halle will fight this tooth and nail. I heard about a man who went to jail rather than split his fortune with his ex-wife (which was what the court ordered him to do). He said he would rather be locked up than give her anything. Halle strikes me as the same kind of person. (Although I doubt she'd go to jail, because she's famous.)

    Officially it is 50/50 custody, but from what people have told me, he actually has his daughter far more than that. He is the one who scouted schools and picked out her school, takes her to occupational therapy (learning disablity or something), dance class etc etc. He is the primary parent in this case. To say otherwise or indicate that he is lazy is just really unfair.

    Did anyone notice that the judge did NOT set the amount she was to pay? They agreed to it between themselves. It was a settlement agreement that the judge signed off on.
    Good grief people you all are thinking he put the screws to her and some stuff and here they are deciding on the amounts between themselves lol.

    @Lisa: Some states have a set formula that is adhered to. One attorney plugs in the #'s, send the results to the other attorney to look at and agree to.

    If the parties don't agree like that here in NJ, then the Probation Dept handles it, and you both turn in tax returns, so they can plug in the formulas, and the money goes through them.

    Please dont think i'm trying to defend Halle, Fred. I'm just saying they aint smart for not having a father for their kids. I doubt either of them thought " I dont want to birth a child because I dont wanna pay some dude child support". More than likely they didn't want to be bothered w/ prgnancy, didn't want to gamble with their looks/body, wanted someone to love that was dependent on them w/o free will for a few years or they wanted nice little props for pap shots.

    @Count Jerkula: the correct terminology for MANsogyny is misandry, and please let me clarify something: I happen to think that ANYONE, male or as in most cases female, who brings a child into the world for the sole purpose of exploiting the child support laws is DESPICABLE. The way things are right now, these overly generous child support laws are encouraging this kind of abuse.
