Elisabetta Canalis Suffers Miscarriage

It was just a few weeks ago that Elisabetta Canalis was sharing the news with the world that she was pregnant with the baby of her boyfriend Brian Perri. Yesterday she told the world that she lost the baby because of a miscarriage. Elisabetta was due to give birth in the fall and she says that she chose to share her story with the world because she wanted to offer her support to other women who are going through the same ordeal. It takes a lot to discuss something like this so publicly and I feel so sorry for her that she suffered a miscarriage and really proud of her for sharing her feelings and her thoughts about such a tragic event in her life and doing so in such an open and honest way.

"Unfortunately, life gives you ... a reality that you do not expect, and that is very hard to accept, even if you think you are strong enough and prepared. You're never really ready to be told that there is no more beating [heartbeat] and that it had already stopped long ago. I just want to say to all those women who are going through it to stay strong because life goes on and it is nobody's fault and nature acts in incomprehensible ways. We can only accept it. I just want to say that I feel you close, if you are suffering as I am doing. We can't deny it, it's like an incessant sorrow you can't get rid of."

  2. the first trimester is the trickiest…most women don't even know they're pregnant….

    1. Sad & true. But Elisibetta was already well into her second trimester which is a whole different story. (She was due in Sept/Oct.) I cannot even begin to imagine what she must be going through. Sending lots of love her way ❤️

  3. That's sad. Been there on a few too many occasions and it's tough. Learnt never to announce a pregnancy too early.

  4. Poor thing. :( That made my heart hurt.

  5. A seriously high number of first pregnancies are miscarried and most go on to have healthy pregnancies. We're rooting for you!

  6. Wow her pain in palpable in that statement. I can't imagine the heartbreak women feel losing a child. My cousin lost so many at the 6 month mark. She has grandchildren now so there is a happy ending.

  7. I'll get the snark out of the way first. She wasn't pregnant with the baby of her boyfriend. She was pregnant with her baby BY her boyfriend. It may seem like a small thing, but a woman's body isn't an oven baking her man's bread.

That aside, I agree, it does take a lot to share something so private so publicly. Miscarriages have historically been blamed on the woman, be it her sin or her faulty plumbing or a message from the universe that she's not fit to be a mother. Mourning a miscarriage was laughed at ("it never was a real baby, why are you crying?").

I'm with @TTM, all the good vibes.

    1. Sorry Seven, but I don't see a big difference in those two prepositions.

Sad for Elisabeth. I have friends that have suffered similar late-term miscarriages, and it is devastating. All have gone on to have more than one healthy baby.

  8. So I guess the rumors of her having a sex change are wrong...

  9. Seven, sorry, I would say she is pregnant with their baby, not hers and not his.

  10. So heartbreaking.
I really feel for her. To loose all those possibilities & dreams is crushing.
She is quite brave to share her grief at such a private time.
    Sending healing vibes her way.

  11. Sad. She is brave to come out and speak about something so painful. That's late in a pregnancy. Very sad.

  12. I admire her for coming forward and sharing her story.

  13. Gold digger lost her cash baby is why she sounds so sad. Boyfriend won't be stupid enough to allow that to happen again. Cue crocodile tears.

  14. I can't imagine the pain felt in losing a child. Regardless of how you feel @brian it doesn't change the fact that it's a devastating loss.

  15. She was pretty far along, about 6 months. Her BF looks to be a legit DR at Ceders too, not some foreign con man like alot of these reality tabloid stars seem to "date".

Yes, devastating loss. Approximately $4,300,000 (at $20K/month).

  18. She looks like Justin Beiber.

  19. Im so sorry for her.

  20. V. Sad. Kind thoughts her way.

  21. I admire her for stepping forward, as I have gone through a similar experience. It is unfathomable unless you have gone through it. I hemorrhaged and almost died. For a long time I wish I had died with my daughter.

Her due date was yesterday. She would have been 7 years old today, and it hurts. I am and always will be a mother.

People are welcome to post their thoughts, but it is extremely hurtful to those of us who HAVE lost children to see it minimized @brian with such vitriol and snark. I'm not letting you ruin my day, just hope you treat people in person with more empathy.

    1. I'm sorry, Beth. We lost my 4 year old daughter's twin @6 weeks, and there isn't a day I don't think of him & what he would look like/be like. My heart goes out to her.

  24. God, I can't even imagine. Good vibes to all.

Not to be more of a debbie downer or anything, but a dear dear colleague with whom I worked in the newspaper biz had a miscarriage less than one week before she was due. Wouldn't wish a miscarriage on anybody, couple, family, etc.

  25. Brian, don't worry about it. This is a gossip site, not a support group. You're allowed to snark at one of Clooney's hookers. Elisabetta's track record of famewhoring stories about her private life for sympathy and attention is a lot more reliable than her relationship with the truth.

  26. @Malibu

Thanks, I appreciate someone who sees this for what it really is. A failed shakedown.

I actually think that child is probably better off not being born.

  27. It will be interesting to see what happens now with her boyfriend- try again or break up after an acceptable amount of time.

  28. @Brian, I'm not convinced that she was ever pregnant in the first place.
