He's asked for a millionth time about his exit from his show and his responses have yet to get old.

    1. "Technically I never quit. I'm seven years late."

"The only difference between having $10 million and $50 million is an astounding $40 million."

      About leaving for South Africa:
""There's not too many good hiding places left in America."

  5. A little tough to watch during a WebEx meeting. "Guys, guys ... Keep it down. Trying to hear Chapelle."

    1. Anyone would think we didn't have real lives and could spend all day on gossip blogs.

  8. I thought it was a rather insightful interview. you could tell Dave likes and respects him.
Dave has gained some weight and it looks Good.
My favorite line? (about leaving the show)
It was like a 50's divorce, just tell them you're going out for a pack of cigarettes and leave with what you have on.
....this was before the internet. All you had to do was move 11 miles and not hang out in the same places... It' hard to find good hiding places in America. (oblique answer to Why Africa)
To me, his style hasn't changed.

  13. I watched the interview live while drunk, and I finally got it, I finally understand his appeal and his smarts.
I didn't get him before simply because I am still learning a lot about the US since I moved here. And the Dave Chapelle thing, I just didn't get it. I saw his standup act over the weekend on tv, then I watched this interview and my hat's off to him, he is pretty insightful.

  17. Chappelle picked up the savagely brilliant comic baton from Richard Pryor, maybe in too many ways.

Three hours of Chappelle on stage! Kristin, I envy you.

  18. Thank you for posting this clip! Love him! Wish we could see him in Florida. One of the funniest shows ever. He looks great.

  19. I wish more people were this dead honest while still maintaining his level of thoughtfulness. He doesn't waste words on regurgitated, meme-generated bullshit. Very interesting guy. Love him!

  20. I finally got to watch!

I love Dave Chapelle, but he seemed...bemused? And distracted? His timing and focus was...different. huh. Funny guy

  21. I wouldn't bet a nickel on Chapelle. Remember a few years ago, a private plane had to land because crackhead was freaking out on board? He's funny and gifted, but a train wreck big time an inch under the surface.
