That being said, RIP Mr. Kasem.. I I spent many hours in my youth listening to his countdown every week.

    1. Oh yeah, VERY ugly, very quickly. Expect numerous ragmag covers of the inevitable mêlée to come.

I hope Casey is truly resting in peace. Doesn't seem like he had much lately.

    2. Bella, Kamikaze, and Licky: my first thought too. NOW it's gonna get real ugly.

  13. I remember it was such a bit deal that we had his show live in Australia....so that was a Sunday night....listened religiously as it was often the first time we would hear new release songs or know what was number one in the US. RIP Casey...you touched many lives...

  16. I was going to make a comment on Mrs. Kasem's comment but I will refrain as I am sure the ugly estate battle royale is coming.

Many of us grew up with Casey Kasem. Always seemed like a decent guy.

    1. Tina- i never listened to his show, and my only connect with him was when my own children went thru their Top 40 stage. But. When US went into military action in 1992, and deployed to Arab countrues, they were face to face with very different customs, obviously. So there was talk shiw, casey was on with some soldiers, relaying their experiences with new to them culture, and he pooh poohed it, and said to the effect arabs dont pray 5 x a dat, they dont have dietary restrictions, or treat women differently. These solsiers were looking at him incrediously while he kept denying what they said was true. It was just strange, and I never forgot it. And they were only discussing differences in cultures, NOT putting anyone down.

    2. Kasem was Lebanese Christian, so he had no dietary restrictions & didn't have to pray 5 times a day. Plus the Lebanese Christians always treated their women well as their culture had been heavily influenced by decades of French interference in that country.
40 years ago, you would see Lebanese women on the beaches of the Mediterranean in bikinis along with all the European tourists.

BTW, the minister at the wedding of Casey & Jean was Jesse Jackson, so that marriage was fucked from the start.

    3. Clark, interesting, thanks for info. I just couldnt understand why he kept denying what theae soldiers said, not actually WHAT they said, thats what got me. It was like if I said i just saw mary, and you wld say, no you didnt.

  19. @Sherry he was Shaggy

They are already fighting about the body before Casey even died.

I think this Circus will last awhile.

I was a huge Top 40 and Scooby Doo fan as a kid. I am glad his suffering is over and if Jean abused or neglected him, I want her punished. I agree with everyone else that this is going to get really ugly.

  21. RIP :'( Why do people have to be so ugly when someone is dying or dead? I will never understand that and I'm glad I wont.

  22. RIP, and yes, an ugly story is set to come out. His daughter is hard-core $cio. :/

@Rhysie, $$$ always makes the grieving process easier for the greedy. Sad but true.

  23. RIP Casey.

I've heard Casey's daughter Kerri on her radio show with Nikki Sixx and I was shocked to find out that she's 42 years old. I assumed she was a teenager with her "ums", "yeahs" and "likes", and her anecdotes are boring and trivial. It boggles my mind that she co-hosts a national radio show. She comes across like an utter and complete idiot.

    1. She was part of another show that aired on SiTV. It was about sex and relationships and she acted like a prude the entire time.

  24. RIP Mr Kasem. Is there any proof other than keeping him alive against a DNR order and away from his family that his wife was abusive? They were married for a long time, so I don't think gold digger is quite the term for her. I can understand someone not being ready to let go when their loved one is ill and their days are numbered. I hope that is all it was with her and not something underhanded.

  25. Kerri Kasem says she's not Scio, and I'm not seeing how it would matter if she was. She was losing her father and her stepmother behaved abominably. Some serious mental health issues there, methinks.

    1. @Cee Kay. Yes, because no Scientologist ever lied about it. (coughWillSmithcough) Kerri's a Scientologist. There's proof of it all over the net that the {Cherch} and Kerri are now trying to sanitize.

  26. I googled the Kerri kasem xenu connection and there are photos of her wearing a xenu shirt and listed as a a member. It was on that tony ortega blog.

I don't think we know all of the details yet.

Jean may have acted nuts but who knows what went on. My hubs kids treat him like shit and if he said I don't want to see them in his final wishes I'd do my best.
She was married to him for 33 years, but had a bf too. Who knows? I loved him as a kid.

  27. Wow, a part of my childhood and early teen years is gone.

    RIP

Hope the battle doesn't get too ugly with the family. I absolutely hate when that happens. It's just so terrible when everyone's scrambling to get "their" chunk. Or worse yet, on what to do with the poor deceased person & what their wishes were.
I truly hope that his family lets him rest in peace.
