Blind Items Revealed

April 7, 2014

What eccentric actor known for a hit 80's tv show and several big screen character roles, who now dabbles in reality tv, is asking fans to help out a co-star's family who recently suffered an unexpected loss? The actor has plenty of money to spend on his own projects, but is asking fans of his current show to help with funeral costs and rent money.

    1. And with that the last good piece of my childhood has died.

    2. Riven you should try being British. An entire childhood of TV and radio happy memories has been destroyed, destroyed I tell you, by Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris et al. Not forking out for a funeral is saintly in comparison.

    3. I remember playing Rolf Harris on our pianola (surpringly I'm not 100 years old) but my parents were fairly candid in their opinion that he was creepy so they kind of saved me from the disappointment.

  2. Maybe he doesn't like them enough to help out on his own. Or hes cheap.

  3. I was about to say I had no idea who he was and then I googled and realised I LOVED that Perfect Strangers programme. Didn't even know he was still around.

  4. Howabout...he spent almost all his money on his own projects.

  5. Balki, you are a douche bag.

  6. Don't be ridiculous.

  7. I wouldn't think he had "plenty of money". His peak was in the 80s. He may live comfortable but paying for someone's funeral and rent may not be in his budget. At least he is trying to help so good for him.

  10. OT But is it me or is Enty posting really slow today?

  11. While he could be asking fans to help with the funeral and rent, he could be helping in other ways.

  12. Funerals cost about $6000.00 these days.

  13. A lot of people with money find that, if they pay everything, people become dependent on them. Therefore, for protection, they ask that others fund a portion. Almost every charitable campaign has donors who specify matching funds (i.e. I'll give a buck if you find two others to give a buck also.)

  14. It could be a face saving way to help the family. Money donated from one person, who you know, is different from taking money from strangers. Taking money from someone you know or work with could be awkward. Taking money donated from strangers could be awkward too, but perhaps easier to handle.

  15. The dude can afford to own 6 houses. At once. I'm sure the fans he is soliciting for handouts can barely afford one mortgage.

  16. Where'd my comment go?
I just looked up his IMBD, he has one movie in post and his last epic in 2013 was (I sh*t you not)
    Kung Fu and Titties.
    Balki has NO money

  17. In with Saints Fan, don't believe he has "Lots" of money left..the 80s were a long time ago, what has he done lately? His "Project" isn't pulling In lots if cash. I would appreciate anything someone did for me to help my family during a tough time. Good on him for helping. May he is also seeing what comes In and will help on the other side. Many times our families donations come from hearing a family in need. I really don't have a problem with this, how about it's a "kindness"??

  18. He came off so greasy on The Surreal Life IMO.

@D Brown- I agree, I have a family member that is well off. Unfortunately everyone in the extended family knows and when they need money they either go straight to him if they have the balls, or they go to his immediate family (I'm one of them) to go the backdoor route.

However, at least Balki's heart was in the right place.

  19. He's also one of these that blames everyone else why he can't get acting work anymore, but he has a bad working reputation & has bad mouth co-stars in interviews.

    I HEART Balki.

Bronson sounds like an okay person too...

  22. I don't have a problem with this. Isn't this what churches do every day?

  23. I don't have a problem with this either. He's using his scant celebrity to help a little. Let's not poo poo his efforts..

Seriously Kung Foo and Titties? Wonder what market that will play. Since Perfect Strangers isn't in syndication now that I know of doubt he has lots of $$ rolling in.

  24. Wow I just looked up his net worth which is 10 million (figures are usually a couple years behind), but what's more interesting is he went to Yale on a full scholarship after graduating as valedictorian from his high school.
Btw, I felt this was more of a kindness blind than bash him for not paying for everything himself.

  25. I don't believe this, either. He was great freaking the reporters out with his weather forecast.

The original BI has that fantastic link of Cheri Oteri being a Mean Girl to a sour grapes girl.

  26. Bronson comes across as being really interesting on his Bronson Pinchot Project show. And, I'm surprised to say, he does not strike me as gay. "Not that there's anything wrong with that," it's just that I'd always assumed he was gay in real life.

  27. Good on him!!! It's not about him being able to afford it or not. Everyone complains that people don't help enough...this guy helps and people still b!tch.

I started something similar. A friend of mines daughter had cancer. When her daughter became cancer free, and their dream was to go to Disneyland. Sure I could have save enough to send them all, but I solicited some mutual friends for donations. It wasn't about me not wanting to foot the whole bill, but much more as a show of support for a friend to show her that her friends and family love her and we are all rallying behind them

  28. Um, my dad's funeral ran around $16K. They are not cheap, plus rent, and maybe he doesn't have a lot of liquid assets... so I'm gonna applaud the guy for trying to do something to help.

  29. There's nothing wrong with him requesting donations, provided HE is also contributing or matching the amount collected.

  30. Ooooh, @Seven! What a fabulous rabbit hole. What a great fall!

Thanks for leading me in that direction.

  31. There's a guy on his show named Mike Pupusha whose father died suddenly in March with no life insurance in his early 50s.

If you scroll through Bronson Pinchot's FB page you can see info. It looks like he will provide housing to some of the family but he and friends/neighbors are trying to help the whole family out with the funeral arrangements.

  32. Why should he pay for all of it? Seriously. It's Balki. It's not like he's loaded.

  33. @seven: random hilarity re: Cheri Oteri - she's on Tinder in LA (my brother is on it and she "liked" him or however it works).
