Blind Item #6

The wife of this aging former A list mostly movie director turned part-time actor was heard complaining about her husband while shopping over the weekend. It turns out that even though he is aging, his proclivity towards beating women has not stopped.

  6. Dammit I liked Favreau. I hope that's wrong. :(

  7. Favreau was an actor turned director, not the other way around. PCU is a classic.

  9. Forget my guess, I had it ass backwards. Hope it's not Favreau.

  10. Mostly it's actors who move onto directing not the other way around although Sidney Pollock is one I remember. Of course he's not a suspect as he's passed.

    No clue.

  11. I wouldn't call Favreau "aging" in this case. He's more "prime of life." In this case, it sounds like someone over 60, when their strength would be fading.

  12. Woody Allen is a good guess except he's like 90 pounds soaking wet and Soon Yi has a good 30 lbs on him.
    Tarentino isn't aging or married.

    Billy Bob Thornton?

  14. Former A List: Rules out Woody Allen, Oscar NOM this year

Sometimes actor: Rules out Billy Bob, Denzel and Favreau, they have a long film list.

Rob Reiner was a child actor (All in the family) before he was a director.

  16. Another option: Peter Bogdanovich.

  17. I refuse to believe it but do Mel Brooks or Gary Marshall fit? They are probably forever A list.

Spike Lee is more than a part time actor, right?

  22. No not Kevin Smith. Silent Bob is a gentle soul.

  23. I forgot Anne Bancroft died and didn't know Marshall's wife did. It's sad no matter what but these two seem so kind.

  24. How about Barry Levinson? Married, aging, Oscar winner, and appeared as a Supreme Court Justice in that recent HBO TV movie about Ali.

  25. Has Ridley Scott done any acting?

  26. Is this beating women as in "he's an ass hole" or beating women as in he enjoys S&M?

  27. UGH! Please reveal this so I can make sure I never attend any of his movies.

  28. John Singleton.

Aside from the Tupac movie that's planned he hasn't done much in years except play himself on various tv shows. He's only 46 but all of his game came when he was 23 so I can see where "aging" fits (the idea of maturing as you age versus getting frailer as you age).

Except I can't seem to confirm if he's married, though he has six kids with multiple women. It could be entern typo or it could be he got married during his off years and no one cared.

But he he has spousal abuse charges from at least one ex. And there were suspicions of others, including Tyra Banks.

That being said, I can't find anything to refute Peter Bogdanovich or Jonathan Demme as possibilities.

  29. Bogdanovich is divorced. He cheated on his first wife (production designer Polly Platt) with Cybill Shepherd, but he was the "good" guy in the Dorothy Stratten case. He ended up marrying her sister.
Jonathan Demme had a few cameos but hasn't been featured in any part since 2000.

Edwards Burns is both a director and an actor, and he's married to Christy Turlington, but I don't think he ever reached A list as a director, he's 46 and the BI would have mentioned that the wife was famous.

Oliver Stone hasn't done anything on screen other than a string of cameos.

  30. Couldn't ever hit a woman myself, just not in my nature. However, I no longer feel sorry for these women. Women are pathetic creatures.

  31. Jordan, what kind of mother did you have? She sounds awful if this is really your take on women. If not then you better finesse the art of sarcasm like A LOT!

  32. Rolotomassi, By Jo I think you've got it! James Camron is an excellent guess...until someone comes by and says otherwise.
